We've all been there. Whether it was your on birthday years ago or if you have a kid that age, you know what I'm talking about.
For some reason, it is a law of nature that your kid will want the entire class to share the celibration of their birth. And that of course means classroom cupcakes.
How do you handle this at your house? Do you make them yourself, baked, frosted, and ready to eat once in the room? Do you allow your kid to help out with the baking or the frosting? Do you bake them, but leaving the frosting for the kids in the class room? Do you bake serverial kinds or just one type?
And do you have any class room snack memories? ^^

Heh! My birthday is on Valentine's Day so we'd always have parties on my birthday when I was in elementary school. That was pretty cool. I usually baked cookies to take with me.

I've put 5 kids through school, my youngest is in his last year of elementry school, so this will be my last year. 95% of the time we made the cupcakes at home, I usually let the child whose birthday it was help me make them. We then decorated them together and delivered them to school the day of the birthday. The thing I have found to be most helpful is now you can buy the sugar deco that you put on top of the icing. You can get it to be any character you want just about. My daughter loved scooby doo, my youngest son, likes yugioh, so that is what we had last year. We haven't decided on what to do this year yet, but we have a few months still.

During my b-day we were usually just trying to get out of school. I've always had like some type of final exam on my birthday unless it was a weekend or something. Perhaps that's why I've always just tried to ignore my birthday.

My birthday is in the summer, so I never had class room parties. And I bet if my birthday were during the year I still wouldn't get to have one. sad My schools sucked like that.

Even with my kids that had summer birthday's I'd get together with the teacher and arrange to do it in the first week of school.. My kids that were a bit sneaky usualyl worked it so they got one at the end of the school year and one at the beginning. It usually had nothing to do wtih the school, but the individual teacher and how persistant the parent was. Some of the teachers actually set specific days that it could be done regardless of when the birthday fell. Like one teacher would only do it on Monday's because she thought it brightend up the dreaded Monday's and some teachers only did it on Friday. So many variables. The biggest thing the teachers were about is that no one was excluded. All the kids in the class had to involved.

We never really got to have individual bday parties, the teachers felt it wasn't fair to the kids who couldn't afford it or summer bdays. An idea I thought was great was celebrate all the bdays of the month on one day.

My 16th birthday was May 26th.
Everyone hit me 16 times and my boyfriend thought it would be funny to spank me 16 times. He gave me 16 of something else instead.. ninja

I usually took cookies in, but people were mean to me...I didn't have many friends crying (being sarcastic about the sadness)
I think I did it only a few times...mainly because I've only had school on my birthday maybe twice...(late December birthday).
