Flerida sat by the river bank, taloned feet dipped in the cool river. The heat of the morning had prompted this quick visit to refresh herself and so far, she was enjoying the day. Huni was around more often, that was a comfort for the young girl, but the few other Fables she had met weren't. She wondered if it was possible to stop being friends with someone, like you stop being healthy and get sick.
As she contemplated these thoughts, she stilled. She glanced back, did she hear someone or was it all in her imagination?
"Is someone there?" she calls out.

Medeine, definately not someone who'd you'd be scared of at first glance, had been taking her daily stroll through 'her' forest, and quite often visited the river. In fact, this was where she'd last seen Tasius, so, she was relaxed, and even pleased to find another Fable.
And a female, at that.
Slipping from the cover of the trees, the teen moved smoothly past Flerida to seat herself on a rock, legs crossed at the knee. She was slilent a while before replying, blue eyes studying the other girl merrily as a slow smile lit her face.
"Assuming that thee would think myself to be a 'somebody,' than yes, I am indeed, Lady of Feathers."
Medeine was one odd cookie, but a friendly one at that.

Flerida nearly jumped in surprise upon finding Medeine so close to her. She inched away, uncomfortable at the lack of proximity between them. She spoke oddly, at least it was odd for Flerida, then again she hadn't met many people. Maybe she was the one who spoke oddly?
"I'm not a lady of feathers," She blinked, raising the hem of her sleeves to show that they were indeed merely cloth and not feathers. The sole feather that grew atop her head didn't strike her as enough to qualify her for that title. "I am Flerida, and whom am I speaking with?" She was nervous and a bit fidgety.

"Mmmn... Indeed, just as Lord Tasius is not Lord of Drowsiness, perhaps?"
Medeine did think it was enough to classify the girl as such, as she'd only done so to recieve her name. The other Fable seemed rather... Tense, and Mede only responded by growing more relaxed, and standing to curtsey in one fluid movement.
"They call me Medeine, but as of yet, I am not sure if that is who I am."
Deine did speak strangely, in a mix of modern and slang, with Old English.
"What's up, Lady Flerida?"

At the mention of Tasius, Flerida brightened. "You've met Tasius?" At least they had something in common! Flerida wondered what else they could possibly talk about. "I-if that's the case, I'll address you as Lady Medeine then." The avian Fable is still a little wary, despite the friendly demeanor Medeine exuded. It just wasn't in Riddy's nature to be so open and relaxed around strangers.
"What's up? The sky, I believe. And the Sun. And some birds," She enumerated in confusion, what did the older girl mean by that?

Unable to explain herself in slang, the teen let out a warm chuckle and continued to speak in her natural way.
"Lord Tasius and I have an... Intriguing relationship, indeed."
Falling silent, as she often did without embarassment, the girl finally rephrased her earlier statement.
"How doth thee fare?"
Letting slim fingers slip into the water, she wriggled them, appearing instantly pleased with the sensation. Medeine, while incredibly intelligent, was made happy by little things.
"Thee doth naught enjoy the company of one unknown to thyself..."
Her tone was soft, reflective almost as if she was speaking to herself.
"I had no desire to disturb thee."

Flerida somehow managed to understand this manner of speaking better. Although it was not the sort Huni used, nor was it familiar, Flerida did get a much better sense of what Medeine was saying.
"Is it more interesting than being friends?" She asked, she still wasn't certain what a 'friend' was even after all this time. "I am fine, I suppose. The heat got to me," she explained, self-consciously pulling her talons out of the water. "I-I'm sorry, but what does 'naught' mean? And you're not disturbing me, really."
Riddy was embarrassed that she knew so very little of others, of things beyond her house, and beyond Hameln. This affirmation made her all the more antsy.

Once assured that she wasn't disturbing the girl, she became very... Medeine-like. Which probably frightened the girl quite a bit more. Once more on her feet, she placed both hands on her hips and tilted her head at Flerida.
"Why, thou art gorgeous indeed! And quite unique in appearance... Much like Lord Tasius."
Naught sounded like not, and meant pretty much the same thing, Medeine forgot to go into it, continuing her small speech, eyes twinkling.
"Oh, no. 'Tis just as interesting as being friends, but in rather different ways. Hmmmn... I would not say we are friends, but enemies? We are far from it! Complexities can be pleasing at times."

If Flerida had been wary with Medeine just a few moments ago, she was now completely distraught by the older girl's observations. She wasn't entirely certain what she was talking about to begin with, it seemed Medeine was going off-tangent.
"Um, thank you?" She blinked, inching away ever so slightly. "You are enemies with Tasius? And you're happy about that?"

"Oh, no, no... Far from it. Yet, we art not friends. Lord Tasius has few. Art thee his only, perhaps? I am merely an intrigue to one such as he."
Yes, Medeine did go off on tangents most of the time, although they usually came full circle.
"I am glad, however, that I did not disturb thy time at this river."

Medeine was certainly an interesting person, but Flerida wasn't certain of how much of this interesting Fable she would be capable of understanding. "Does that mean your relationship with Tasius is the same as his relationship with Aeka?" She didn't know if Medeine had met the coyote Fable before. At this point, Flerida was finding keeping things straight was enough of a task.
"Where do you live?" She found herself asking, perhaps finding out who her guardian is would help her understand Medeine better.

"No, not like my dear Aekepi... For Lord Tasius cares for me, in his own, strange way. Aekepi also cares for me, in a different way, and both males... Do not get along because of it."
And it actually wasn't entirely Medeine's fault! Tasius had looked like he was choking her when he was only holding her throat, and Aekepi challenged him, and... Well, things went downhill from there... Snapping back to the present, the teen chuckled.
"I live where I please. Until I was a young girl, I was raised in the forest by the Fay, but now I occasionally stay with the Reever family, but I am still free to come and go as I please. And thyself, Lady Flerida?"

Flerida couldn't help but wonder if all the male Fables were so unagreeable with each other. Well, except for Ryose and Snowe who seemed to get along. Then again, Ryose didn't like his guardian, and it seemed like Snowe was sharing the sentiments.
The blonde girl was beginning to think all men needed to adjust their attitudes. "The Fay? Who are they? I live with my guardian, Huni although she tends to disappear for days on end and I'm tasked with taking care of the house in her absence." She shrugs, well that certainly wasn't informative. Flerida didn't know the Fays or the Reevers, then again what did she know?
She still couldn't find it in herself to calm down around Medeine, she felt too ignorant and was apprehensive of saying anything else.

"The Reevers... Would be considered my second adoptive family, whereas the Fay art the first. The Fay art... the collective term for most magickal beings that enhabit the natural world. Faeries, Nymphs, and such, if thee will."
Medeine tapped her chin with a blue polished finger, looking thoughtful before grinning suddenly at Flerida, perfectly comfortable, brows raised.
"From what I gather, thee do not seem to have much... 'Fun'. Perhaps... Perhaps I can be of assistance in such a pursuit, that is... Once thee become used to one such as I."

Flerida huffed in indignity, "I do so have fun! I mean, I get to sing at the top of my voice whenever I feel like it, and I get to dance when no one is watching. And and and I read!" She frowned, folding her arms across her chest, "Those are all fun things."
Of course, Flerida forgot to mention the sudden sharp pangs of loneliness and ungodly sensation of isolation that came with her 'fun'. She didn't have many friends, if she even understood that word correctly.
