Today was an odd day, teh breeze ruffling the leaves on the bushes, a little black mass rolling around on a dirt path, trying to stand up, not knowing where they were going.
A pup...
A young one at that. Just old enough to be weened off her birth mother, today was the day, that the female would be able to open her eyes and see the world, she knew it, she could finally look at her mommy and daddy, adn listen to them, for she couldn't hear things quite well yet.
Soon her ears folded up, that noise...what was it...like a chirping...that was annoying. She roleld over again. Her black pelt not nearly blending in the with dirt.
She squeaked as she rolled over a stick, it hurt, but today she'd speak her first words, she'd finally see ehr mommy and daddy...but where did they go? Mommy was just carrying her, daddy alongside her, she felt herself plop down not that long ago. She thought they went to go get food...but they hadn't come back yet.
A new scent was on the air, the female thought she heard thunder crack through the air, but it wasn't raining, why did it lightning then? Perhaps it was thunder...whatever it was, she heard it a few times, then nothing.
Where were they?
She was all alone, rolling around like a little wingless bird trying to obtain flight, she felt that she could open her eyes soon, where were they...she wanted to see ehr mom and dad.

As a soft breeze ruffled and began stirring up small ripples to trail across his tapered, jagged fur, Damu yawned and slowly padded down the worn deer trail through the woods. Lately the days consisted of sleeping and wandering wherever inspiration and a newfound curiosity guided them to. But the once vagabond was not alone- no, Damu had found his mate; he had found Taima.
Again as his maw gaped open and a whine broke the silence of the early
morning, the white and black swirled male flickered his eyes and shifted his ears slightly.
"What a morning!" He commented with his deep, slight hint of a gruff tone as a wide grin sat upon his maw. "Looks like a good day."
Emerald eyes glanced round about, peering in all directions as the possibilities and chances of what exactly laid in store for them seemed limitless! The days lately were casual but, for today, he felt invincible! The sensations that there was nothing that could stop him surged through his wolfish veins, carrying him to newfound heights and breaching limits!
Nothing could tear him down!
His black ringed tail swayed casually behind him, flicking and sweeping to the side as he paced just beside his mate. Stepping upon the path with a stiff-legged appraoch, he drew his head closer to her and graced her maw with a tender kiss.
"What's in store for today, love?"

Taima closed her eyes for a good second as she let the cooling breeze ruffle her fur and fill her lungs with pure, clean air. It had been quite a while since they had settled into Hige's lands and had made themselves at home.
The past few days had been rather uneventful and casual, but the female didn't at all mind. All that mattered to her was that they had found a home after miraculously finding each other. They were like feathers on a bird, they belonged together, where ever they went and where ever their paws carried them. No matter what lands they were in, they'd always belong together.
Opening her eyes again, she smiled at him as she loped easily beside him. She wasn't sure where they were going, but she didn't much mind. Anywhere with him was paradise.
Giggling slightly, Tai pressed herself against him for a second before nipping his ear then pulling away. "Oh.. I'm not sure. There's so many options!" She hopped for a second, her excitement of a new day simply taking over. But then she was calm and smiling warmly at him. "Maybe we could--"
She stopped.
"Do you smell that?" she asked, sticking out her tongue to taste the air for a moment. There was something new and strange, but somehow delightful...

The little mass of black, silver and orange fur was wriggling and rolling back and forth along one area of the worn path now. Her eyes still closed but wanting to open, mind wanting to call out to her mom and dad, but they weren't back yet, why did they leave her all alone in the path here?
She wriggled and tried to push herself to stand on her wobbling legs but flopped over on her side with every try, she needed someone to lean against to help her, dad would surely help, and mom would be happy wouldn't she?
But where were they...
The pup was getting upset now, and afraid, being left alone in the woods here, unable to see or speak, barely being able to hear correctly, she could hear that strange cracking of lightning and thunder in the distance, hearing those strange chirps fly over her head.
How to get their attention?
Only one thing she could do, she ket tumbling over herself trying to stand, but she whined and squeaked out, hoping her parents would hear her tiny voice.

A slight shock of surprise and a wide grin spread across his maw as his mate nipped tenderly at his black ear and pressed herself against him.
Taima was too perfect!
Her compassionate and motherly nature always made him smile and, truthfully, it was she who made him warm up and to feel at ease. Shaking his head as he chuckled softly, Damu smiled as his emerald orbs peered into those of his mates.
"How abou-"
Before he could speak further, Damu wrinkled his muzzle and let the foreign scent seep into his nostrils and within his maw. His tail flicked behind him with curiosity as his ears shifted, swiveling about as he let the scent draw in.
"Another wolf...." he mused as the small whine of the unknown presence did not go unnoticed. Tilting his head, the white and black swirled male perked his ears upwards as he began padding forward a few steps. His emerald eyes began scanning about the brush and trail as they looked and sought for where the cries came from and, of course, from whom they were from.
The same, unfamiliar scent wafted heavily in the air as his black ringed paws continued to lightly step upon the worn trail with a cautious manner; taking each step carefully in hopes to not distrub nor scare off the one they sought.
"It's nearby somewhere," he called out as he glanced back towards Taima. "Close...but I'm not too sure where."

Taima sniffed the air over and over, trying to learn as much as she could about this new scent. Most of what she gathered after a few minutes consisted of this:
Whatever it was, it was definitely a wolf, as her mate had said. It was also a young wolf, female as well and very fragile. That last part was enough to get the female trotting quickly through the forest, trying her best to follow the scent and locate its origin.
Whining, Tai passed her mate several times while desperately searching. She had no idea why, but she simply had to find this little girl. That scent... it just screamed easy meal for any larger predator than the little thing herself. She had to get there and find the pup before something else did!
"Damu.. have you found the pup yet?" she asked, almost out of breath as she momentarily passed him.
In all of her flurry, it was amazing she heard anything but her own breathing and whining. But, miraculously, she heard the tiny voice of the one she was looking for. Ears perked, Taima quickly followed the sound, woofing a bit both to her mate and to the one that she was looking for, and eventually she wound up a few feet away from the tiny girl. She looked abandoned in some way, but she couldn't think why anyone would want to leave this precious thing behind.
Whining again, she approached the pup and began to sniff at it. There was a faint scent of older wolves, but they seemed gone now. Lifting her head, she wagged her tail once then called out to her mate.
"Damu! Over here.. I've found something." Someone, really, but she'd let him find out when he came.
"Oh you poor little thing," she whispered to the pup, sinking to her belly as she pulled the other closer carefully by her scruff, afterwards placing the little wolf delicately between her paws. Smilling, she then began grooming her. Acting very much like a mother Tai was.

The little black, silver, and orange mass heard others coming. Yay! Must be mommy and daddy. She wriggled trying to push herself to her feet, hearing them talk to one another, and they were coming closer fast!
Soon she felt herself being picked up and gently placed down again. She could smell the scent of her mom around her, her dad not too far off from where she was with her mommy. Yay! They came back!
She wriggled under the touch of her mom and squeaked, eyes squinting ready to open...
Finally she would be able to see them!
Slowly she began to open her eyes, wincing once of twice as they began to adjust to the light here. Everything was so green! Her orange hued eyes peered around and she saw a big poofy white and black male wolf, it was daddy! She yipped at him happily and wagged her tail, then looked up to the image of her mom, she was so pretty!
She wagegd her tail at both and tried to say her first words now, surely that would make them proud of her, "M-mommy!!!!! Daddy!!!!!" She then snuggled up in between her mom's forearms and curled up while still looking at the white and black figure not too far away.

Gritting his teeth as his black ringed tail swayed behind him, Damu was becoming a bit disgruntled. Though he had been unceasing with the search he couldn't help but feel he was going around in circles. His senses were not as "acurate" as Taima's but, still, something told him that he could not stop; he had to keep searching.
Tai's first question did not compute wholley with his train of thought as he kept his nose low towards the ground and intook the scent fervously. Black ears shifted and swiveled as he continued padding upon the trail.
"No...still lookin'," he mumbled as he began rummaging through the thick brush and deviating off the path.
Several moments passed and when Taima called out again, the white and black male suddenly perked his head upwards from the depths of the brush and leapt towards her with haste in each step. "What did you find?" He replied as the strength of the scent wafted heavier within the air.
Padding softly behind his mate, the emerald eyes of the male grew wider as he peered over his mates shoulder.
"Is- is that....a pup?" The white and black male stammered as his ears fell somewhat against his skull. "Who would just abandon a pup out here? Or why would anyone?"
Casting his gaze down towards the small female, a lighthearted smile drew up upon his maw. He always wanted to have kids and with only a simple look towards the small pup made his heart yearn.
"Are we keeping her?"

It simply touched her heart when the pup between her two forelegs cried out mommy and daddy. The pup seemed large enough to be able to survive without mother's milk but also small enough to think that Tai and Damu were her real parents supposedly. The poor thing, she probably never saw her real parents.
Grinning to her mate, she nodded before licking the pup's ears, one lick for each. "Of course we are keeping her," she said softly, nuzzling the little girl lovingly.
"That's right... mommy and daddy are here.."

What were they talking about? The little pup did not understand, she didn't understand many of the words they siad, the only one's she recognized were "her," what were they talking about? She tilted her head towards her black and white fuzzy dad and squeaked at him happily.
She nuzzled up against the underside of her mom chin adn looked back to her dad, wanting to snuggle him to. She made odd squeaking noises as she tried pushing herself to stand, her tail wagging out of control.
Slowly she gained balance on her wobbly legs and she yipped again, "Daddy!" One by one she took slow steps towards him, trying to not flop over when her legs wobbled, they made this look so easy! One by one, she was almost there!
Now she was right by her dad's forepaws, just as she was moments before with her mom and she snuggled against him fondly, "Daddy, my daddy..."

A broad grin set upon his maw as his mate replied with a nod of her head and a replicated smile. He, Damu, was going to be a father! Though the pup was not their own, the instincts of the patriarch of the family were begining to coarse through his wolfish veins and set in. Behind him his black ringed tail wagged estatically behind him as he casted his emerald eyes back towards the pup that resided between his mates enclosed forepaws.
To his surprise, the pup was not there!
Where did she go?
Diverting his gaze as the small pup yipped outloud, the white and black male found himself somewhat speechless as he watched the young female stumble towards him.
Watching with a cautious nature and anticipation, Damu smiled warmly as the young pup nuzzled against him.
"My daughter," he softly remarked as he slumped onto his stomach and encircled his paws around her and pulled her close. As he emitted satisfied and comforting rumbles from the depths of his chest, Damu smiled as he peered up towards his mate.
"What shall we call her?"

Taima was as thrilled as her mate that they had found this pup. True, it probably wasn't the same experience as having one's own pups, but it was still one to take care of, love tenderly, and raise into a fine wolf. She was simply thrilled that she had been given this opportunity, for she had been secretly wanting pups for a while now...
A warm smile suddenly sprung up onto her face as the little female began to make her way towards Damu, calling him father all the way. It warmed her heart when she heard her mate call the pup his daughter, and she couldn't have been happier.
Tail wagging slowly yet excitedly, Tai made her way slowly over towards the pair. Once she reached the male's side, she sank down to her belly as well and licked the pup once before she had to reply to Damu's question.
"How about Kaede? Do you like that name, daughter?" she asked, her heart soaring with the fact that she had someone to call a daughter.

Kaede wagged her tail and squeaked excitedly as her father pulled her close, he was so soft and nice! She wriggled and curled up and laid her head on his paws, seeing how big his paws were to hers. She placed her paws on his and smiled.
She watched with orange hued eyes as her mother now came over and sat with them too, she smiled and wagged her tail at her, Kaede's nose memorizing their scents. With the statement of a name...she figured it was like 'mommy' and 'daddy' and that name seemed quite nice.
She nodded very much so and yipped, "Kaede! Yes mommy!" she was excited, she had gotten a name, could see and hear, and she was with her family."Daddy like Kaede too?" she asked, fumbling with words, she didn't understand much, but tried to put things together vocally that would make sense.

Glancing from Taima back towards their newfound daughter, the white and black swirled male nodded his head with a pleased smile. "Of course," he commented as he nuzzled against the small pup, "it's a fitting name for a beautiful girl."
The males emerald eyes felt as if they could not part away from little Kaede. There were countless emotions that surged through his body as, for the first time, he was begining to finally experience what fatherhood was all about.
And he liked it.
Damu had always wanted to have pups of his own and, truthfully, the mated pair seemed more "cautious" about bearing pups. But, perhaps, this would help both Damu and Taima prepare further to raise their own family.
Lowering his muzzle closer towards the crimson and black hued pup, Damu tenderly licked her as he chuckled softly.
"Well, now that we're together, what shall we do?"

Taima wagged her tail, happy and proud as could be. She was glad that the other two liked the name she had thought of; she rather liked it too.
"Very fitting for our daughter," she said, smiling down at their new pup. This was exactly what the couple had needed. Tai was a bit... nervous... when it came to thinking about child-birth. She had never done it before, and truthfully she wasn't sure she wanted to. But in order to have pups of her own, she needed to go through it. Perhaps Kaede would help her get used to being a parent before she actually had to go through having her own.
Yes... this Kaede would be her first daughter, her most precious thing in the entire world.
Blinking as she was disturbed from her thoughts, the new mother tried to think. "How about food? Are you hungry, Kaede?"
