[Cole's Profile]

Full Name: Cole J. Sullivan
Meaning: "Dark-eyed [Black-eyed] Warrior"
Age: 10
Gender: Male! D:
Race: Human
Height: 4'7"
Weight: N/A
Personality: Cole has no confidence in himself. He's very shy. He does talk to people, but never really opens up to anyone unless he trusts them with his life. He doesn't look up a lot, unless he has to make eye contact with someone. He knows common courtesy, but isn't over polite or proper. He likes to be by himself. He feels that he's the black sheep of his family, so he doesn't usually talk about his siblings or parents. He's also jumpy. It doesn't take much for him to go from resting in a tree to falling quickly to the ground below. He has the luck of an Irish man. ...Well, an Irish man who walked under a ladder, stepped on a crack, who spillied salt, and had a black cat walk in front of him. At the same time.
Island of Birth: Illusion
Current Place of Residence: Illusion
Likes: Reading, relaxing, sleeping, and candy. Meeting new people, even when they don't talk much. Being able to relate to others, however rare that is.
Dislikes: He's afraid of lightning, and isn't fond of surprises. He's all right with flashes, just not loud noises and flashes together. He hates sour foods, and chicken. He doesn't really have a reason for that, he just doesn't like it for some reason.
Fighting Style: He doesn't like to fight, nor does he have much experience. When he is forced to, he'll mainly attack using his legs and feet instead of his fists [or use a spear, but he doesn't have one of those.].
Goals: To be brave.
To become a great pirate, no matter what it takes.

[Fellow Pirates]

User Image
-Kamaria-
Cole believes Kamaria's nice, though he really wishes that they had met under better circumstances. Getting stuck in a tree is not his favorite thing to do. He's greatful she got him down, and glad to have her as a friend. Even if she is blind, Cole doesn't seem to notice or think any less of her because of it.

User Image
-Aerie-
Aerie was there to give him some medical attention when he banged his head on the table. It was surprising for him to actually meet someone from Skypia, and he's interested about learning more about the land. But of course, he will never ask her unless he gets more comfortable with her.

User Image
-Lance-
Lance and Cole met very briefly when Cole went to the Inn for the first time, so he doesn't really have any specific impression of the boy yet.

User Image
-Pollyanna-
The first time he met Polly, it was in the Inn. The second time was at the Inn, as well. But he had more time to actually speak with her. She seems to be kind and care, though a little eccentric. And she apparently likes cooking.

User Image
-Quidam-
Quidam and Polly are twins, apparently. The only regret Cole has when he met Quidam (other than banging his head on the table) is that he didn't get to see more of the Devil Fruit's powers. After all, when would the next time be when he'd see someone with the power of a cursed fruit? But Quidam himself is nice like his sister.

User Image
-Eliza-
Again, Eliza and Cole didn't really get to meet very well the first time in the Inn. The only thing he knew about her after the first time they met was that she had a fight with Aerie. Which he failed to prevent, as even though he was standing next to them, he couldn't get a word out that they could even hear. The second time they saw each other, though, he got to actually speak with Eliza and find that she is understanding.

User Image
-Haruka-
The two of them get along well enough. Cole's indebted to Haruka, because the other boy pulled him away from Aerie and Eliza when they went on a short rampage in the Inn. And his bird is interesting, because it seems to understand at least a little of the human language.

[Way to go, Cole]

This has got to be a dream. There's no way she would do this. No. Possible. Way.

Cole flipped himself over, taking the sheet with him. Still half-asleep, he barely noticed that the large blanket that had been there when he went to sleep was gone. It was pretty heavy. But there was something else on his bed. It made the whole thing move. The girl was staring right at him. After a few moments of staring, she got bored and moved her head. Since Cole had moved his head, the sun was now glaring right at his eyes. The only thing that had been shielding him was his sister's head. Now that it was out of the way, the light shone right through the window. Only one of his eyes dared to open. It darted toward where he felt his sister.

"Hey, Cole! You need to wake up now~~"

She began jumping again, narrowly avoiding his leg. Her bouncing kept him from sleeping or even getting up. This had never happened before -though, he had to say, he prefered it to the ice water she used last time. Maura had long since given up on trying to wake her brother by traditional means. It seemed that she had made it her goal in life to find a new, more annoying way to wake the unconscious boy each morning. And every single time, it took him a few seconds less to figure out who it was disturbing his slumber.

A soft groan escaped the thick blanket that covered Cole from head to toe. In the middle of the night, he had managed to pull it all the way up over him. He'd been half-asleep, but it had served a purpose. His eyes were safe from the sun. Though not safe from everything else. The thing that had awoken him sat just outside his window, making aggravating noises that he could do nothing to stop. Instead, the boy decided to paw at the window until it left. He dragged himself up off the pillow, eyes still shut. "Could you stop that please?" It sounded like he was talking to himself.

The noise refused to stop. Cole again asked it politely. Still, it continued. His eyes shot open, glaring straight at the source of the noise. Of course, it was just a bird. ...A raven with the tail and eyes of a cat. Not the most normal-looking thing in the world, but not completely strange, either. There had been so many eccentric animals that he'd read about (or seen himself) that it didn't completely surprise him. Though he'd never seen one of those before.... He opened the window and shooed it away. A loud 'caw!' and a hiss came to his ears as it left. The window closed again, and for the moment, he forgot about it.

It didn't take long for him to realize that the house was empty. Actually, he figured it out in a single moment. That morning, there had been no wake-up call from his sister. And when he opened the door, none of Cole's siblings nor his mother were eating breakfast. He was a late sleeper, so it wasn't abnormal to not see his family eating. But he found that they weren't anywhere in the house. The door to the bathroom was open, and the room itself was empty. He was thankful of that, at least, and took a short shower.

All clean, Cole now decided to have something to eat. Though his stomach was the one who really decided. He was fully awake and aware now. One glance at the table, and he saw something. It took a second glance to realize what it was. A small note sat there waiting for him. 'Cole- Have some breakfast and relax. Everyone went out to get groceries and do some chores, and you can do yours when you're all ready. Love you, hun. -Mom.' What followed was a short list of chores. There was one he didn't really understand. But the last one... It was more of a favor than a chore, but he dreaded it just the same. 'Visit your father's grave and leave some flowers, if you have time.' It wasn't as though he hadn't done that before. But he still had scary thoughts about the graveyard and the story of the maiden. He swallowed his fears, and went to make some breakfast.

But that didn't go according to plan, either. All he wanted was to make some small pancakes. Simple, no? Not simple enough. There was already some batter from the ones his mother had obviously made that morning for his siblings. It was still sitting on the counter in a bowl. So he turned on the stove, narrowly avoiding the flames. For a few moments, he looked at his hand to make sure it was all right. It didn't look like anything was burned, so he put the frying pan on top. The batter poured extremely slowly. He moved to more and allowed gravity to do the rest. "Come on, come on..." He started to grow impatient with it. All at once, it fell onto the pan. Now, instead of a few small pancakes, he had one huge one. "Why do these things always happen?" He ran about, trying to locate a spatula. Much to his displeasure, it was nowhere to be found.

When he finally managed to find it, the pancake was long since burnt. Now the bottom was black, and the top was still uncooked. Again, he groaned loudly. Cole quickly grabbed something hold the hot pan with, and threw the horrible cooking experiment away. He really needed to learn how to cook.... On his way back from the trash, he had to think about what he'd make for himself. This almost made him miss the second note, along with the small batch of perfectly-made pancakes. 'Cole: Only you could burn something that you've made over a dozen times. <3 -Maura.' He silently thanked his sister, ignoring the blatant insult she'd made. They were still warm, which meant they'd probably been made moments before he woke up. It's scary sometimes how they know me so well....

It didn't take him more than a few minutes to finish the food. It'd been over twelve hours since he'd eaten last, and he'd felt it. He grabbed the first note -the one from his mother- and gotten dressed. The last things he put on where the bracelets. It seemed appropriate to wear them, considering he was going to visit his father. But the chores came first, and he was content with that. Maybe he wouldn't have time... He had to collect some flowers, anyway. Again, he'd been sent out without any money.

The first task was the one he didn't understand. Apparently, he was supposed to collect shells. How many, and for how long, he had no idea. But he was supposed to. Thus, he went to one of the beaches he knew with a basket. It had been sitting on the table along with the note, and he'd just barely been able to grab it before he left. It was definitely beyond girly -probably his sister's- but it was all he had. As soon as he got there, it began filling with all sorts of shells. Maybe his mother should have been more specific.... But it was too late now. It only took a little while to see something coming towards the island. Definitely a ship... From the structure, it had to be.... It only took a little while for his suspicions to be confirmed. It was indeed a pirate ship. The Jolly Roger flew proudly above its mast. Pirates. He had nothing against them. Actually, he didn't feel uncomfortable around them. Which was saying something. Cole was uncomfortable around everything bigger than a gnat. The pirates pulled in to the docks. It wasn't rare to see them, so the town didn't make a big deal of it. Usually they stopped, got drunk, stayed the night, and left. Not many caused any trouble. And the ones that did were taken care of by the adults.

The next task involved something more appealing to him. Actually, had he not been told to go, he might have stopped by anyway. Ah, the book store. Definitely his favorite shop in the marketplace. The boy had been there so many times, he might as well have worked there. It was small, but it was also cozy. A perfect place to escape the world. The door opened with barely a sound, as it usually did. "Are you in here, Mr. Knox?" He spoke quietly, and surprisingly, without stuttering. "Yes, I'm in the back! I'll be out in a minute!" A voice called back to him. The man had good ears, probably from listening to the smallest noises in his shop. Soon, the man appeared. "Ah, Cole. You here for the book?" He nodded. "Just a moment, then." He disappeared again, then came back out with a large hard-cover book. "Thank you, sir." Cole took the book without looking at the title. "Have a good time reading it, and tell your mother I said hello!" Mr. Knox waved as the little boy left, carring both the book and the basket in his hands.

The final task before heading to the grave was to get some flowers. There were a few places on the island that he could go. He had to hurry, though. From what he knew about storms, it looked like one was coming. And he would very much prefer not to be anywhere near thunder or lightning that day. He had enough on his mind. Knowing a storm was coming made him hurry. He finally found a good place with some beautiful flowers. Nothing looked poisonous, so he picked a large amount of them. But that was mostly to stall for time. When he had an incredibly huge number of flowers, he knew he could carry no more and that he still had time to make it to the graveyard.

And it was just as horrible looking and gloomy as the first time he'd come. And the second. And the third. And all the other times. Cole sighed deeply before walking through it. His legs knew exactly where it was, so it was no problem. The grave of Carden Sullivan was exactly the same. Cole placed the flowers in front of it, then saw a note just below where he'd placed them. It had his name on it. In his mother's handwriting. 'Don't open this until you get a good look at the book.' Cole blinked. What did the book have to do with anything? He humored her, and looked down at the book she'd asked him to pick up for her. A History of Pirates. All right, so? He glanced back at it, as if hoping it would answer. Nothing. His fingers flipped through the pages. Nothing much, just plundering, pilaging, and some things about the Grand Line. He had no plans of going there, that was for sure. "All right...." He opened the note. 'Cole- First of all, I'm so sorry. We finally decided that this would be the best way to tell you. By slowly introducing you to the idea over the course of the day. Second, you know I love you, even if it doesn't seem that way. Your older siblings know this, but Kendra doesn't. Don't tell her, please. She's going to find out on her own, too. Even if you're mad at me, you know not to take it out on her. I trust your judgement.
Your father wasn't in the Navy.' It stopped there, and at the bottom of the page, there were only four words.
'He was a pirate.'

CRACK! A huge lightning bolt signalled the storm was there. It began raining after only a few seconds. The ink on the paper began to fade and run down the paper, leaving Cole pondering as to whether or not he'd just imagined the note in the first place. The ship coming in, the book, the note. It'd all been slowly introducing him to it. He shoved the note in his pocket, along with the other two. His hands tightly clutched the book and the basket. He shielded the printed wonder with his own body, leaning over to the point where he was about to fall down. Without even realizing it, he walked all the way back home. When he came in, his family was back. He was soaked to the bone, but he just quietly shut the door to his room. No one said anything. They knew not to. It was now dark outside, and the rain kept coming down. He was drenched, but laid down on his bed anyway and covered the back of his head with a pillow. He stayed this way for over an hour, before moved the pillow again and stood up. His gaze looked out the window, into the storm. The bird was back, letting out it's high-pitched noise. It stopped when their eyes met.

"...I'm going to be a pirate, just like -no, better than- my dad. I'll do whatever it takes."

The bird took off and went into the rain. Somehow, it seemed to be satisfied by the words.
