Well, he is certainly an interesting writer who deserves to be discussed. However, I've always had rather mixed feelings about him. I'll read one of his books (one of the earlier ones before he went off on his incest/polygamy tangent--those ones I stopped bothering with after the one about Lazarus' mother) and think, "Well, that's certainly an
interesting opinion. And he does
phrase it well. And I
want to agree with it. But at the same time, doesn't it go against all of my other personal beliefs?" And then I'll sit around being confused.
That's what's so interesting about Heinlein. In his day and age, he was one of the first people to write stuff like that. There are many other Science Fiction books that go against things that we hold as personal truths. For instance, Asimov's Foundation series. It goes and outright says that without a central government, our species, Homo Sapien, will spiral down into barbarianism.
