Kate was feeling hungry, although it was no surprise. She had always felt hungry when she's feeling bored, and she's currently very bored. There was nothing to do, and surprisingly, all the video games didn't seem all that fun to her.

She had played most of them before anyway, having been stuck here, she had took to spending more of her time in front of the games. She sighed, kicking up some sand with her foot. She had never enjoyed a day out with her family before, especially to the beach.

How she wish to hear her annoying little brothers now, and the sound of her mother's nagging. Even her father's weird jokes will sound like music to her ears now.

Sighing again, the female sat down on the sand, her toes getting wetter with each passing moment as the waves crashes onto the shore.

Doe was a little reluctant to go down to the beach again, as that was the place where she learned the horrific truth of the island from Oz. It still was shocking, even more when she saw people like Kaveri and Jamal; she couldn't eat much without vomiting it out. She wished that, for once, her memory loss problem would let her forget. Somehow, it stuck in her mind. And it didn't help much that she read her journal every morning to refresh her memory.

Leaving her journal in the duplex, she finally convinced herself that fresh air would be good. Darting out and closing the door behind her, she looked out for any islanders around. No one, thank goodness.

She walked to the beach, letting her hair flow in the breeze, still in it's braid, not noticing the other teen.

Kate was absent-mindedly staring at the sea, almost in a trance. Her eyes were looking at something that only she could see, far out in the waters. Her pair of sneakers lay beside her as she suddenly let out a sigh. When will she be allowed off the island? It's already been quite a while.

Pushing her spectacles up her nose, Kate finally noticed someone else's presence. Thinking it's one of those people in an animal suit again, she looked to the side.

'Thank goodness,' She smiled to herself. 'Not another weird guy.'

She nodded to the other female from where she was seated, spectacles slowly sliding down her nose again.

Doe breathed in the fresh air and exhaled slowly, closing her eyes. After a while, when her eyelids opened, she noticed someone else out of the corner of the eye. Panicked, she turned to get a closer look. Whew. It wasn't any of the anthros. Her stomach had enough of throwing up for a day.

She walked over and gave the other girl a smile, sitting down beside her.

"Er, hello." Kate said softly, eyes still looking at the horizon. She don't really like meeting new people, much less talk to a complete stranger. But being on an island without talking to anyone, even if the stay was temporary, would be rather boring.

Clearing her throat, she looked at the other female with a slight smile, "So... Well, my name is Kate. Yours?"

Always start with an introduction. It can't go wrong from there.

"I'm Doh-e," the teenager replied, empahsising the pronounciation of her name. It wasn't just pronounced "Do", which some people did. It was a little annoying. "Hi Kate."

"So...I'm from Singapore. You? And how did they trick you into coming here?" Doe asked. The second question seemed to be what everyone would ask after finding out the truth.

"Singapore? You don't look Singaporean to me!" Kate gave a laugh, a rather cold one but a laugh nonetheless. She gave a smile, "I'm from Singapore too... And I want to go back." She gave a sigh, a habit that was dieing hard.

There was a moment of silence before a shock look crossed her features as her spectacles slid down her nose again. The teenager blinked, before replying, "Trick? What trick?" She frowned, pushing her eye-wear up her nose again.

"I was supposed to stay here until they could arrange me a flight home."

"My parents weren't Singaporean." Doe said flatly, but her dark eyes showed some interest, "You come from Singapore too?" she paused after this as Kate sighed. "I don't know if I want to go back to that stupid orphanage. But I don't want to stay here either."

Oh no. Kate hadn't heard of the truth behind the island either. Doe remembered Oz's reluctance to tell her the horrific facts. Now, she knew exactly how he felt. Would Kate react the way she did?

"Uh...I don't think I'm the right person to tell you," Doe stuttered. Gawd, Oz could do this better than she could!

At Kate's next remark, the girl snorted, tossing her long braid over her shoulders. "Oh they will?" she asked sacarstically. "Tell them to get me off too then." her tone was bitter as she kicked at the sand.

"Yes," Kate begun happily, but stopped suddenly. "I... Uh... I'm sorry... I didn't know." She paused, looking down at the sand, feeling a little embarrassed. She listened to the waves, and remained silent for a moment.

"Not the right person to tell me what?" She asked, observing the way Doe was acting. After a moment, she added, "That I’m stuck here? And that something very bad will keep me here permanently?" Her eyes stayed calm, trying to predict Doe's next move.

"It doesn't matter," Doe replied bluntly, "I didn't really know them before." She didn't really feel embarrassed about the fact that she had to live in the orphanage.

The teen's face twisted in pain. 'Oh god, I can't do this.' she thought desperatedly. "It's...complicated," Doe stuttered, her voice dropping to almost a whisper. "Being stuck here...I...I don't know if you should really...well...augh," Doe felt almost like throwing up again.

Kate heaved a sigh of relief, and nodded silently. She had thought that Doe would be upset at her slip-up. Having no parents doesn't seem to bother the girl though. Maybe it might be a good thing then.

Regaining her composture, Kate frowned as she mused out loud, "What? I'm stuck here, and cannot go back." Thinking again, Kate continued softly, "And that I'm being turned into an animal? I'll never be a ble to see my family again?"

She looked down at the sand again, face covered by her long bangs, "So, is my guess correct?"

Some times, she just hates to guess things. So much for her inspiration of becoming a psychologist.

Doe gave a choke at Kate's guess and glared at her, "How did you know?" her eyes narrowed as she stood up, still glaring at the other teen, "Are you working for the labs?"

No one, no one in their right mind could say, even think about this horrific fact so...so...unemotionally. And even if she had saw some of the anthros around before she knew...Doe heard that a staff member had took delight in tricking an islander, apparently called Josh, that the anthros weren't real with some made-up excuses. And he did believe it. Doe reckoned that she would have too. So how would Kate guess it so easily? That girl seemed so...well, kind of calm as she said it, so Doe had the impression that she had to be working for the labs. Or just...crazy enough.

"s**t." Kate replied, her features still hidden behind her bangs as she drew circles in the sand. "It was just a guess... It's pretty obvious. Who would want to go around a warm island like this dressed in animal suits? And they look too real to be suits anyway..."

"And the way you're acting make the whole fact more clear." She continued softly, looking up at Doe. One could see that her eyes were wet with unfallen tears.

"And I'm no lab tech," She added, turning away. "That should be pretty obvious as well."

Doe rolled her eyes, "Whatever. How about, who would be crazy enough to actually think of something as...as...horrifying?" she watched the other girl warily, still not sure.

"The way I'm acting?" Doe could have almost exploded, "It's not like I'm one of those anthros, I didn't even drop a hint! Gawd, when Oz was acting all nervous, I couldn't guess at all!" she took a deep breath and looked away, as the sea breeze blew at her, calming her down. She should have known not to come down to the beach at all.

Kate seemed like she was going to cry, but wasn't it a little late reaction? Still, Doe felt sorry for her, with everyone else on the island as well. Except the lab techs.

Her face still averted, she said, "I was just guessing. Like you were, but I guess I wasn't so accurate huh?"

"Maybe because I'm more of an observer?" She offered, returning to drawing circles in the sand. Man, she hate to cry in front of people. Talking only made it worse. "And I've just taken a lucky guess. My family and friends probably think that I'm dead already."

She stayed silent for a moment before she continued, "The way you're acting shows agitation, and... Like you're feeling sick. And you sound afraid to tell me the truth of this stupid place."

"So, how the hell do they turn us into those things anyway?"
