Ayden walked beside his guardian, Heart, his head held low. As he walked his red cloak swishing against his black skin as he walked across a stone bridge to the park. His silver blue eyes gazed across the thick green grass ahead of him as he searched, he knew exactly what he was searching for to. Ever since his visit to the Stationary Store he had known. He felt weak from not being around Elana. But he knew what would make him stronger. He was okay with it, stealing energy from other tales, it made him stronger and it felt good to him. The stronger he was the easier it would be to protect his sister, who was not so happy about stealing energy. Ayden moved into the grass and stopped beneath a small, shady tree.

Heart was now a little further behind Ayden he was far ahead of her keeping a withdrawn distance. Heart sighed as she watched him with a steady, caring eye. She was carrying a thick brown picnik basket and a red blanked. "Is this where you want to settle?" Heart asked as she set the blanket and basket down where Ayden had stopped and spreaded out the blanket.

Mehiyal buried his face into Nima's shirt, shunning away all the natural light. "Come on Mehi," the redhead said soothingly to the child in her arms, "It'll be fun to get out."

"My name is not Mehi!" the Tale snapped at her, refusing to look up. Nimaina gave the boy an incredulous look, while her Fandangle grumbled at him for upsetting his Bonded. Mehiyal had been getting...strange of late. Never exactly social, he was even more withdrawn now. And the past day or so he hadn't treated anyone with even his usual cool politeness, instead snapping and arguing with the rest of the family. She'd figured the best thing to do was get him out of the house and away from his siblings.

"Fine then," she finally said. "Mehiyal. You need to get outside more loveh. You'll see, it's not that bad. We'll even have lunch out here, just the three of us, okay?" Mehiyal grumbled something incomprehensible as the trio got closer to Ayden and Heart.

Ayden looked sat down on the fuzzy, red blanket and looked around curiously in between glancing at Heart who was busying herself with sandwhich making. Ayden's ears caught wind of a voice a little down the path of a boy snapping at someone. He listened further and wondered if it was a tale. As the boy and the person who was with him got closer Ayden got a feeling as if he had just had a piece of candy. A tale, it had to be. Ayden gave a small smile, now this would be a piece of candy that he would enjoy.

Heart layed out some slices of bread and began to put ham and turkey and condiments on them still keeping her eye on Ayden, he was worrying her of lately and she never let the boy out of her sight no matter how much he always tried. "Ayden do you want lettuce on your san-"

Ayden looked up at her sharply. "No! Shh... I'm busy." Ayden said frustratedly to Heart. As he looked towards where the voice and the energy was coming from.

"That looks like a nice place to rest," Nima said, pointing her chin at the tree. "Did you want lunch yet?" she asked the bundle of grouchyness clinging to her. Barely a mumble came from beneath those white-blonde curls. "Fine. What do you think Ari?" she turned to her disc-like familliar floating beside her shoulder.

"I don't eat Nimmy."

"Mrf...I know that, I meant about the spot." Maybe this outing wasn't such a good idea after all.

"Oh, it'd be perfect! If there weren't people here." Arilin said cheerily, floating around the tree to point out Heart and Ayden.

"Oh..." Nimaina sighed, noticing the pair. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize anyone was here...We'll be out of your way in a minute." She leaned against the tree trunk to take a breather, looking around for another spot.

Ayden smiled cheerfully. "It's ok, would you like to join us." he said excitedly. "My... mom... packed extra sandwhich things I think." Ayden's silver-blue eyes lit up as he stood up and looked at the curious tale that was clinging to the woman. "Are you by anychance from the Tome?" Ayden asked as he peered around. If the boy knew about the Tome he would be a tale and if he didn't then it wouldn't matter.

Heart watched Ayden curiously surprised at his sudden personality change, maybe he really wanted to have them for lunch and make new friends, other then his sister, Elana. "Uhm... yeah... I have extra sandwhiches if you want to join us, after all its not everyday you can have a picnic with a complete stranger..." Heart smiled at the group.

Nima glanced at Ari, who rolled in the air as his version of a shrug. "Well, if you really don't mind at all..." She slid down to the ground with a slight groan, prying Mehiyal's fingers from around her neck. "We've got some extra macaroni salad and chips if you'd like." She held out her hand to Heart. "By the way, I'm Nima, and this is Mehiyal and Arilin," she gestured to the two with her. "So we won't be exactly strangers anymore."

Mehiyal finally looked up, his eyes dilating at the light. "Yeah," he grumbled, rubbing his eyes. "Wait..." he looked Ayden up and down. "Are you a Tale too?"

Heart nodded her head, "No we don't mind. Alright, good, we can combine our lunched then." Heart smiled as she held her hand out. "Nice to meet you guys. I'm Heart and this is Ayden." Heart said releasing her hand and patting Ayden on the back. "Yeah, good idea." Heart agreed with a nod.

Ayden looked at the boy the woman called Mehiyal, his silver-blue eyes lighting up even more with the fact that this really was a tale and he wasn't imagining things. "Great!" He said excitedly, "I mean, yeah I'm a tale, and it's nice to get to know others who are from where I'm from... kinda... I'm Ayden!" He said smiling at the boy.

"Nice to meet you too," Nima said grinning. This outing was a good idea, so far at least. Arilin floated around Heart in circles as Nima unloaded food from her bag.

"I'm...Mehiyal," the boy said reluctantly, eyeing Ayden with suspicion. No one should be that cheery, especially when they had to be outside.

Heart finished making a total of 5 sandwhiches since she hadn't heard that Arilin didn't eat and set them on paper plates passing one out to everyone. She then pulled a few juiceboxes out of the basket and set them in a pile on the blanket.

Ayden looked at the boy and scratched his forehead quizically not sure what to say. "It's nice to meet you..." He said, that was the best he could come up with. He lowered his smile so it wasn't so overpowering. "Hey after we're done eating lunch do you want to play a game?" Ayden asked as he blinked his eyes softly and crawled over to where the juice boxes were, grabbed two, and then crawled back to Mehiyal, handing him one of the boxes.

"Thank you," Nima said accepting the plate. She opened up the salad and chips, placing them in the middle for everyone to share from.

Arilin hovered over his plate quizzically, wondering what to do with the sandwich as he had no mouth to eat it with. He gently nudged the plate back to Heart. "Thanks, but I can't have any," he said brightly.

"Mm..." Mehiyal murmured and accepted the juicebox quietly. "Thanks...I guess we could..." he said nibbling on his sandwich. "D'you wanna play tag or..." his soft voice trailed off, leaving him open to suggestions from the other boy.

"Oh, sorry about that." Heart apologized to Arilin. "I didn't realize." She smiled and grabbed the plate and put it's contents into a plastic bag in the picnic basket. Heart put some salad on her plate and some on Ayden's and then she began to eat her sandwhich.

Aydeb looked at the salad disgusted and pushed it into the far corner of his plate. He picked up his sandwhich and took a small bite out of it and then set it back down. Ayden then looked back up at Mehiyal. "I guess we could, I don't know how to play though. I don't know very many games..." Ayden shrugged his shoulders. "How do you play tag?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 3:47 pm

Mehiyal look even more suspicious now. What kid didn't know how to play tag? "It's not hard...the kid that's 'it' runs after everyone else and tries to tag them so the other kid's 'it.'" He shrugged and took a big bite of his sandwich.

"It's okay," Arilin assured her, making himself gleam in the light in his version of a smile.

Nima munched on a chip awkawrdly, trying to think of something to talk about. "Soo...Heart...um...how long have you had Ayden?" she finally asked, figuring most parents would love to talk about their child.

"Oh, so how do we decide who is it?" Ayden asked as he stared helplessly at his sandwhich before picking it up and eating some more of it. Ayden then set the sandwhich down and opened his juice box, taking a few large gulps from it.

Heart watched Ayden interacting with the boy Mehiyal carefully. At least Ayden seemed a little more awake now that he was around the boy, and a little more cheerful then he had been acting lately. Maybe she was right and being around other people made Ayden happy now. What Heart didn't know was it was a specific type of people that made Ayden happy. "Oh." Heart looked up startled at Nima because she had been so involved in her own thoughts. "Right, uhm let me see... it's been quite a few months I think now. What about you Nima?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 5:16 pm

Mehiyal swallowed and shrugged. "Dunno...I think rock-paper-scissors or something like that..." He took a bite of the salad, made a face and reached for a handful of chips. He really hoped Ayden knew how to play rock-paper-scissors as he didn't feel like explaining it.

Nima grinned behind her sandwich so Mehiyal wouldn't see. At least he wasn't snapping right now and acting more like his usual self. "Hmmm, I think about eight months now." It felt so weird saying that about a boy who looked around five.

"Alright works for me." Ayden smiled and watched the boy eating his salad thinking how odd it was that he would eat it without having to be forced to by his mom. "As soon as you're done eating we can play." Ayden nodded his head firmly. He wasn't finished with his sandwhich yet, but he was eager to play a new game.

"Really... that interesting." Heart smiled and nodded her head. "It's hard to take care of someone who you barely know, or know anything about, it's quite a learning experience, to start raising them when they are older, isn't it?"
