Though we have this place called Underwater World it's pretty cool and we get to see the marine life.

I've never seen a whale outside an aquarium. Lucky bugger. xd

Humpback whales are one of my favorite animals. Did you knnow they don't even have vocal chords? Scientists guess they make their songs by moving air through the chambers of their lungs.

We did see manatees once when we went to teh Columbus Zoo. The ones there have been injured by boats, as most manatees are, and you can still see the scars on them. After watching them, it's amazing how effortlessly graceful they are in the water. The tank had fake poles to immitate boats docks, and they would simply place one flipper on a pole and turn completely around. Very fascinating to watch.

As for in the wild, I've seen jellyfish washing up on the beach at high tide.... and I thought I saw a sea slug once, when we were in the water in Florida. My mom thought it was seaweed and wanted to pick it up, until I noticed it was moving oddly a lot like it was swimming, and I warned her not to. Many, if not all, sea slugs eat sea anemones, and the poison in the meal transfers to their own skin, making touching them very, very painful.

Cool; we have a Seeaworld to, but it's more of a theme park besides the sharks, dolphins, turtles, fish and the polar bears xp
Where are you anyway?

How neat! You're especially lucky to see that blue guy!

I saw a finn whale just a few feet away when I was in the St. Laurence River whale watching. You're very lucky to have seen so many whales, but nothing beats a finn whale a foot away right in front of your boat. biggrin

The best experience I've had with whales was when we went to Sea World, and the orca they wanted to bring out to perform would not come into the show tank. They tried for about eleven minutes and gave up on her, using another one. My mom and I thought it was hilarious. Go whale attitude!
