Everything is still underconstruction...I will update/tweak as often as I can! Quest Info Username: xMurdocx Mule SN's: Trynt Loomis IoDM Newbie? (Y/N): Yes Serum: Spotted Salamander Welcome to xMurdocx's IoDM quest! A Slimey Situation is my quest to turn my character into a slimy little amphibian ^-^ It's everyone's dream isnt it?? [I have changed my quest from a bat to a salamander because number one, there's already two bats on the island...and I want something original, and secondly I just wasnt happy with the old concept. It was a great character, but I dont think I would enjoy RPing a bat as much as a salamander. So there's my explanation :3]P.S.- I am always open to comments and critique! It's quite welcome actually!Name: Trynt Loomis Age: 24 Birthday: June 13th Nationality: He's a mutt...mostly European decent/known Welsh decent Height: 6ft even Weight: 168 Build: Average, somewhat lanky Eyes:Grey/Blue Hair: Choppy, spiky and black... Skintone: Pale/ivory Attire: Mostly t-shirts, carpenter jeans, sneakers or boots, and a pilot-like jacket Accessories: A watch, sunglasses, various hats and other random crap... Likes: Music, rain, food-especially chocolate, the feel of sand/soil between his toes, being outside, animals, singing, and of course art... Dislikes: Ignorance, untrustworthy people, being talked about behind his back Occupation: Trynt has worked on campus throughout his college career as a lab asisstant in the animal department of the university's medical center. He has always been stuck with the unpleasant, and monotonous jobs that no one else in the lab wants to do. He thinks its high time to find a new job, preferably another lab to work at where he can actually progress past 'lab tech'. Trynt is also an environmental activist. He's not a fanatic, but he is concerned, and passionate about wildlife conservation. His most recent, and longest ongoing 'project' is his involvement in preserving a local green belt area. The habitat was in danger of being developed into a large dairy plant, but was saved when a local environmental group (which Trynt belongs to) brought to the County's attention that the habitat in question was the main breeding ground for a large population of yellow spotted salamanders, as well as home to numerous other small critters. A bill was passed that protected the salamanders home. After that, Trynt helped his environmental group build an underground tunnel under a nearby roadway for the migration path of the salamanders. Many had been dying on the roadway during their breeding season, so the tunnel was built as an alternate safe path...it was successful. [Note: People have actually built such tunnels for yellow spotted salamanders in real life ^-^ ] Education: Fresh out of college.... Hobbies: Trynt loves animals. It's a huge part of his life...simple as that. He also loves simply being outdoors. He enjoys hiking and being in the woods, and also likes tracking animals. The sound of birds, wind, and water; all of it thrills him. He is a reasonably good artist as well....he draws on almost everything he can get his hands on. Music is another big factor in his pastimes. Location: Trynt lives in Wisconsin. His mother died right before he started college, and so up until now he has been living on campus. He pays for the cost of living and tuition with both the inherited money his mother left him, and his own income. Family: None as of now...father left after Trynt was born, mother recently died of cancer, grandmother died when he was 12, and thats about the extent of his ties to 'family'. No siblings... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ideal Transformation Stages:0%- Well..er...how he is I guess
25%- Dark patches appear on his skin over different parts of his body. Loss of finger and toenails, and slight elonigation of toes and fingers. Beginnings of a tail. Tongue feels thicker.
50%- Nose begins to flatten, and mouth stretches wider. Dark patches covering most of his body, and yellow spots begin to be visible. Skin stays moist. Fingers and toes become slightly bulbous at the tips. Tail almost fully formed, but somewhat lacking in motor control. Arms and legs shorten slightly and legs splay out slightly. Rib cage/spine begin to stretch out. Hair begins to recede/fall out. Teeth begin to split, increasing his number of teeth essentially. Two lines of small teeth begin to form down the center of the roof of his mouth, creating a V. Tongue becomes very fleshy, and can be 'flipped' out of the mouth.
75%- Face pushed out more, and shaped more like a salamanders. Mouth almost all the way across his face. Eyes have changed to black and stick out from his head. Salamander coloring is completely taken over his skin which secretes more mucus. Tail is fully formed, and he has control over it. Arms and legs shorten more and legs are positioned facing out. Almost all hair has fallen out. Spine and ribs elonigate more, and costal grooves (the indents along the sides of the body that look like ribs...they are for moisture control) are apparent. Teeth become more numerous, pointy, and smaller. Teeth in the center of his mouth are fully formed.
100%- Basically looks like a normal salamander standing on its hind legs. Face/head shaped exactly like a salamanders, all costal grooves are prominant. Arms and legs at the proper length. All hair is gone. Teeth are all small, pointy, and numerous. Havent really thought this part out, but he may also lose his er, man bits seeing as salamanders only have a vent/cloaca

About The Man Personality: Overall he is a really friendly guy; very personable and easy to approach. One reason for this excess of friendliness is that one of his biggest fears is to be alone (as in no friends/people around, not just being by himself wink ). This fear probably stems from the fact that his mother (who was his only family) died when he was relatively young. For this reason he is also very self sufficient. He doesn't like getting 'help' with anything (even though he does need it now and then) and he wants people to see that he can take care of himself. Trynt is also a very introverted person... he always has been. He is most comfortable being alone with his thoughts, or simply being an observer. His other comfort zone is when he is with animals (heh...the island may change that). However, with his strong will to please others he forces himself to interact with people more, and as time goes on he gets more comfortable with this. One of Trynt's best characteristics is his loyalty to friends (when he has them...). Since he doesn't have a family of his own (his father left when he was young and his mother died of cancer shortly after he got out of highschool, and he has no wife/children) he cherishes any sort of companion he can befriend. History:Trynt was born to two people who were too young, and unprepared to raise a child. His father, Craig Thomas left not long after Trynt was born; naturally, Trynt doesn't remember him. His mother, Christina Loomis raised him the best she could by herself with a lot of help from his grandmother as well. Unfortunately, his grandma passed away when he was 12, but by then Trynt was old enough to help his mother and take care of himself while she was at work. She worked full-time with almost no time off, leaving Trynt to entertain himself. This taught him to basically fend for himself (cook, clean, get a job as soon as he could) and be independent, but that also meant he became a very solitary person. This is also the roots for his introversion. Trynt struggled through school, but he worked his a** off and did graduate from highschool with decent grades; his efforts payed off when he got accepted to college. However, because of his family situation, he never really had time to make close friends. Trynt loved his mother but they were never very close. Though once his mother died (when he was 19), he felt regretful that he never made a better effort to really love her as much as she deserved.... A quirky little tidbit of info- The motto for the name Loomis is: Yield not to misfortunes (Kind of fits his life?.) Also, Trynt is a Welsh name meaning "lives near the stream", somewhat fitting for a salamander eh?

The Animal Serum: Spotted Salamander Why?: Because um...I think the island needs more amphibians? sweatdrop Salamander Info Description This is a rather large salamander reaching lengths of 6 to 7 3/4 inches long (Conant and Collins, 1991). Adults have a black, bluish black, or gray ground color with two rows of round yellow or orange spots running lengthwise down the back. The rows of spots may be irregular or straight. The spots run from the eyes to the tail tip and are usually well rounded and do not run together to form large blotches or lines. Some individuals have two bright orange spots on the head that stand out against the bright yellow spots on the body and tail Good Pic of Orange Spots. The belly and lower sides are slate gray and lighter than the dorsal ground color. Often there are silver fleckings present on the sides. In adults, the bottom lip and throat are light gray. They have 11 to 13 costal grooves and there are four toes on the front feet and five toes on the back feet. Larvae are olive green above, lighter colored below, and have no strong markings except near the tail tip. They also have bushy gills. Newly tranformed spotted salamanders have light bellies and smaller dorsal spots (Petranka 199 cool . HabitatSpotted salamanders require woodlands with ponds for breeding. Petranka (199 cool states that mature deciduous forest is the main habitat type for the spotted salamander, but Minton (1972) also makes note of mixed hardwood habitats. Vernal pools are very important for breeding. Fish free ponds are best, but Figiel and Semlitsch (1990) found that larvae may change habitat usage to survive in ponds containing fish. HabitsSpotted salamanders are obviously one of the most secretive salamanders in our state, which is why they have gone undetected for so long. Nearly all of their time is spent underground in burrows of other animals. Occasionally, they are found above ground on damp or humid nights. The only time they are found above ground in numbers are during heavy spring and fall rains while they migrate to and from overwintering sites. It is not known how visible these migrations are in Minnesota. Spotted salamanders breed early in the spring, but slightly later than some of our first spring amphibian breeders. The adults migrate to the breeding ponds during periods of heavy snowmelt, warm spring rains, or humid nights if there is no rain. The migration appears to be synchronized. Males court the females by nudging and rubbing them with their snouts. The male drops a spermatophore, which the female walks over and picks up with her cloacal lips. Males may drop nearly 100 spermatophores in a season. The breeding period lasts from a couple nights to over a week. The time varies by location. The females then lay from 1 to 200 eggs in a globular mass. The mass is attached to twigs or other underwater structures; very rarely they are laid on the bottom. The mass is covered with a jelly-like coating which may be clear or white. This prevents some predators from eating the eggs (Petranka 199 cool , but it is probably not the full function of the coating. The eggs hatch in only a few weeks. The larvae actively feed and grow for 2 to 4 months. The larval stage varies based on geographic location and water temperature. Some larvae are known to overwinter and transform the following spring (Phillips 1992). Spotted salamanders spend a few years as terrestrial juveniles before becoming sexually mature. The terrestrial juvenile period may last from two to five years or longer. Transformed juveniles and adults spend nearly all of their time underground. They may be found under rocks, logs, or other debris especially during wet, damp, or humid conditions. FoodSpotted salamanders eat invertebrates such as earthworms and insects or anything else they can catch and swallow. Adults secrete a milky toxin from glands on the back and tail for defense against predation. Ambystoma maculatum Tidbits: The word "salamander" originates from an ancient belief that these animals were fire lovers. This was perhaps based on seeing such a creature, when the log in which it had taken cover was placed in a bonfire, escaping, rather than emerging, from the fire -- a significant difference missed by early observers! Spotted salamanders are rarely seen by most naturalists because these animals spend most of the year beneath forest litter or under the ground and rarely emerge in the daytime. In the early spring, however, soon after the snow melts, they migrate to ponds and ditches, particularly on rainy nights, and breed. They are readily recognizable by their black colour and pattern of bright yellow or orange spots. And of course, the ever necessary Wikipedia source:http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_Salamander Credit: Various sites off of Google, and Wikipedia.com

To the Island! How he gets there:I haven't really decided on something solid.... My main idea is this:Trynt is looking for a new job working with animals in a labratory setting right? Well I thought it might be possible that he applies for a job at Feral Labs....However...once Moreau sees his background info, and that he basically has no family, the doctor's intrest may be peaked? Perhaps Trynt even writes in his application that he is willing to pick up and go anywhere the company needs him to be for work, seeing as he has no ties to his current location. I dont know...this is just the basic idea.... Any suggestions are welcome!!!------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What he brings: -Clothes: 2 jackets, numerous t-shirts, a few pairs of shorts and jeans, boxers, a pair of sneakers and a pair of boots, socks, a hoodie, and a pair of swim trunks -His sketchbook and artistic utensils -Sunglasses -Portable CD player+batteries and numerous CDs (mostly burned mixes) -Toothbrush/paste, comb, razor (hardly uses....), deodorant, shampoo -A BIG book of animals...its like an encyclopedia just for animals -Various college text books regarding zoology/biology -A duffel bag for his clothes, and a backpack for everything else....
