I used to have abunch of friends that worked at pet stores that quit after they found out that the petstore they worked had puppy mill puppies. Then I did research to find out that alot of petstores do the same thing. Some petstores though have personal breeders for the pet stores. I've looked up some cases of puppy mills that were shut down, and had proven information that they sold the puppies to petstores. It took alot of research, I wouldn't start anything like this if I wasn't sure. Pet stored is how they make most of their money.
Some Puppy Mills though you go to the person who is runnning the puppy mill, and they wont let you see the parrents. My Aunt's next door neighbor is running one, and sells puppies to petstores and at her house. So I went over and acted like I was interested in buying a puppy. And I asked if I could see the parents and she wouldn't let me.

Most pet stores get their pups from mills or backyard breeders. The mills sell the pups cheap to pet stores, because they know the stores will keep coming back. Ask any pet store employee about where the pups come from- They either won't know or will give a vague answer, and they'll never provide information on the "breeder" they get a pup from.

Yeah heres a conversation I had with a Pet store owner onces:
Me: So where do you get your Puppies from?
Owner: We get them from breeders all over.
Me: Can I have information on the breeders?
Owner: No it's confidential information, Its illegal to give out.
Me: Did you know most Puppy Mills are illegal?

Then I got kicked out...

there's a pet store at the mall in my city, and there was alot of protesting because supposedly they got their puppies from mills, but that was BEFORE they opened. BEFORE they even had puppies..(??????) i really like this pet store becuase they take their puppies out on a regular basis and play wtih them, also socializing them. i am willing to shop there.

There probably are a few out there that do it humanely, but you can never tell.
See I dont believe you can make a living off of breeding (humanely), unless you're husband/wife has another job. Unless you're selling the animal for insanely high prices, and breeding them every time the female goes into heat(wich is unhealthy).

They prolly didn't use common sence in their protesting. And its good that the pet store does that with their animals. I think just being in the pet store is good enough for socializing but alot of the puppies dont get enough exercize.

I would only get a puppy from a good insanely humane loving breeder, or the humane society...

and I volunteered at a shelter for well over 2 years, so I know how to pick out a good dog that has no problems, YAY!
