One of my friends is one of those people who gets very philosophical when she drinks. The other night, she came over after a party and immediately asks "Was God a monkey?" She explains that, maybe god started as a single-celled organism and evolved, creating us in his image along the way. I thought that this was a very interesting theory, and so, decided to share it with you.

Hmm this is interesting however since we are believed to be decended or evolved from apes so if god was indeed a monkey then how can he be god because he was/is the first if god evolved the same way we did then wouldn't we be equal? However it is plausible and frankily an bloody good thought that we are modelled after ones own image no? I'll have to put more thought on the subject.

It is quite a difficult concept to grasp.

I want to meet your friend and get her completely drunk. She sounds awsome, and inspirational. Quite frankly I don't think her idea is that far fetched at all when put up against noah and his ark and other such concepts.

In fact, perhaps the concept of 'God' is nothing more than an extra terrestrial (possibly extra universal, or whatever) that is much farther along in the process of evolution? Maybe not the 'monkey to human' precise evolution, but a rather looser interpretation of some humanoid creature?

In the bible.. i think in romans or hebrew it says. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. and in 1 john 5:7, The father, the word, and the holy spirit bear witness in heaven and they are one or somethin.

It's settled God was a monkey and Jesus was born a crab but evolved into a flying, egg-laying cup.

lol tht's pretty thoughtful, but (yes i am aethist) if we were truly created in god's image, wouldn't we all be perfect? And in that sense, wouldn't the possibilty exist that god actually did, 'evolve' with us in a way?
