Elana sat on the outer edge of the cement wall surrounding the small fountain, legs dangling over the side. She had her body twisted inwards to face the water pouring out of the top, eyes shining happily when some of the water splashed onto her face.

Wiping away the droplets on her face with the back of her hand, she dipped it inside the cool water. It was supposed to be a Summer afternoon, but the sun was hiding behind some clouds and a gentle breeze was blowing. It was a warm day, but the wind made it cooling and a perfect day to go out.

Removing her hand from the water, she flicked it before using her shirt to dry it off. If she had felt more energetic, Elana would be running around the fountain playing by now, and not just sitting there.

It was another warm day, the sun rays washing the streets of Barton in their hot rays. A perfect day to visit the fountain. Trailing down the larger streets of Barton, both Fai and his Author headed straight for the fountain. One, eyes filled with curiosity, glanced around everything either side of him: to the garish little stores littering the side of the roads, to the odd people who stared at the rather odd pair (saying they, they had every right to stare. Taley and Fai weren't exactly a typical family unit walking down the streets after shopping) and then back to his latest pride and joy.

The metal shiny hung around his neck, slung just on top of his thorn covered cross. It was a little scratched by now, the (what had been) polished silver whistle having scraped and scrubbed so many times over the sharp thorns that not a single inch of the metal wasn't covered in delicate scratches. Fai loved it anyway, his thorn covered arm hand latched onto the whistle: refusing to let it go for neither love nor money.

"Come on, let's go to the fountain for a little while, hm? We can eat our lunch there?" Taley suggested, bouncing the small boy on her hip. Having the little boy stuck to her hip was the easiest method, as his walking controls hadn't been fully functional quite yet. Appeasing the fact he couldn't walk properly, Taley headed right for the clear cut cement wall that was Barton fountain. Her tail twitched behind her, in truth - she was looking forward to sitting down.

It was a little too hot for the furries liking outside.

Hazelnut eyes lifted as they started heading in the opposite directions, grey goose feather wings flicking back against his head. They flicked against his goggles, the leather straps slipping for the third time that morning. Gravity taking hold, his goggles landed right upon his nose, reach side of the glass landing cockeyed against his forehead.

Scrupling up his nose, Fai tore himself away from the musical whistle, chubby fingers reaching up for the goggle straps. Extending slowly up towards the straps, he bit his tongue between his lip, fingers curling around the leather. Now just to get it back where it usually was: up upon his forehead. Not an easy task for a two and a half year old.

Elana let out a tired sigh, feeling bored and weary. The last few nights had been filled with horrible nightmares, and pain. The visions were so vivid that she woke up drenched in cold sweat each time. Not only were the visions vivid, they were real as well... And painful.

She pouted to herself, looking at her reflection in the fountain water. Ripples created by the falling water kept destroying the reflection, and Elana felt sleepy after staring at it for a while. Besides, her stomach had started protesting - rather loudly - that it needs to be fed with food. Now.

Elana petted her belly gently as she looked around with eager eyes. Her mother was always slow when it comes to buying things! Sleepy, bored and hungry on a warm day isn't a good combination, and her stomach gave another loud growl.

That was when she heard approaching footsteps. Thinking it's her Dragain, Elana spun to look at the figure. She was about to let out a disappointed sigh when she'd realised that the child was a Tale... A cure to her weariness!

She bit her lip and forced herself to clear her mind. She had been feeling guilty for a long time now, and without Ayden by her side, this guilt is making her wish to stop her energy draining. But if she didn't do this, she might just fade away and disappear.

Putting on a smile, she waved at the other Tale and his guardian.

"Oh, hello," Unlike Elana, Taley didn't quite realise this was a fellow Tale she was now looking at. Weaving her way around a scurry of people, Taley parked herself down beside the little girl. Where exactly was her mother? Scrap that, should she even be talking to strangers. All thoughts were abolished a moment later, grey bi-coloured pupils gazing down towards the little lad now parked in her lap.

Fai's wings flapped against his head as he looked on down towards the pretty silver haired child. In truth, he didn't truly know she was another tale, rather- her wings were just far too pretty to miss the opportunity of meeting with her. He smiled a milky white tooth smile, fingers finally prising his beloved goggles from around his eyes: shifting them all the way up to rest up against his forehead.

Not that they'd stay there for long, but it was worth a try.

He didn't usually wriggle, but this was one circumstance. Pushing his boot covered feet out, the little boy did his best to wriggle out from his Author's grasp, pushing himself forwards so he slid out of Taley's lap, sitting on his rump ontop the cement walls. Hazel eyes shining with joy, he reached a hand out towards the fellow Tale. For now, it was his version of hello.

"Fai careful," Taley warned, reaching her arms out instinctively towards the small Tale to make sure he didn't topple off altogether. Steadying the two and a half old with one furry hand, Taley dug about with the other to find what she was looking for. Aha. Pulling out the bottle of water from her bag, the rather warm furry shifted on her spot, the tip of her light purple tail trailing in the water.

"Are you waiting for your parents?" Taley enquired, doing her best to edge around the subject nicely. Pulling the cap from the bottle, she just held it between both furry hands, her darker rings of purple along her arms brushing up against the other. First finding Fai in the stationary store, next finding a group in this very spot a few weeks ago having hallucinations, and now a girl that couldn't have been very old sitting here alone.

Elana's stomach gave another growl, and she blushes a light pink. Giving a smile, she reached out a hand and took Fai's hand in greeting. The feeling was sensational, like she had just woken up from bed and just came out from the bath.

"I'm Elana," She pointed to herself as she shook the hand, moving it up and down gently and slowly. After a brief minute, she let go of the boy's hand and returned them to her side. Turning to face him and who she presumed to be his guardian, she pulled up her legs to sit cross-legged on the cement.

"I'm waiting for my mum." She replied to the female's question, eyes glancing around the area. "She went to buy lunch, but she's taking an awfully long time..."

Lunch? Taley couldn't help but smile as her white ears picked up the sensitive sound of one empty stomach. Reaching into her bag, Taley shuffled around with the contents, doing her best to try and find what she knew to be a large paper bag of toffee she'd bought this morning for later on. Nothing like filling in time with some sweets while waiting for lunchtime to roll around.

"Fai," The little boy felt the need to introduce himself despite having already been introduced. His tiny fingers clasped onto hers for that brief moment, the Tale having to blink twice as she let go. His soft wings flapped against his head, and slowly his gaze drifted down to the shiny held around his neck. Now that introductions were over...

Maybe she'd like the whistle as much as he did? Sitting steady where he was, his fingers clasped around the shiny around his neck. Milky white toothy grin firmly planted on his face, he pulled and held the whistle out with joy. With it fully off from around his neck, he offered the whistle out to the older silver haired girl.

"Ma says it's a whis- whis- whistle -" He stuttered throughout the whole of his sentence, his lack of speech capabilities limiting him. His face contorted into a frown as he tried to get the name of the instrument out, feathered wings flapping once more against his head. Once out, however, the little boy beamed once more.

Elana smiled curiously as she looked at the thing Fai had called a 'whistle', and hesitated. Reaching out her hand, she took it from the other child and examined it, holding it up to the sky. As she did so, Elana let out a happy giggle.

"It's shiny!" She exclaimed happily as the sunlight reflected off it. Placing down the whistle and examining it again, she turned her attention back to Fai. She held out the whistle to its owner and gave him a smile as a thank you.

((Gah, sorry for this taking so long. >.<))

Fai beamed as she examined the beloved piece of metal, the little boys wings flicking up to flap against his head like a dogs tail might do when happy. The sunlight reflected back of the metal in her grasp, almost as if it was brand new, covering all the blemishes within it's glittered path. So she did like it after all!

Making sure she was finished, smaller fingers leant out to grasp his item back, unknowingly brushing over Elana's slender hands. He wouldn't notice it, but the boys mottled wings drooped against the brown leather straps, as if they didn't quite have the energy to pick themselves up. Gathering strength, gray feathers took their time to perk back up against his hairline, lapsing down at either side of his goggles.

Hazel eyes didn't even register the change, chubby fingers fumbled to clasp it back onto its chain. One baby tooth bit down onto his lip doing so, shuffling to steady himself as he clasped the instrument back onto it's clip. It seemed to take a battle of pushing and shoving of toddler fingers, but the defined metal slung back onto his neck a moment later.
Grin still plastered to his face, Fai opened his mouth to stutter once more. His words weren't by any means refined, but they served their own purpose.
"P-etty w-w-ings," He exclaimed. Body language is always far more powerful than words, and as of such a chubby finger pointed at the white wings upon her back. He was almost bashful about his approach, his button nose twitching as he tried to pull the string of two words out.

Watching the two carefully, Taley continued to delve around the canvas bag. Finally, her fingers found the edge of a paper bag, drawing it out from the depths of nowhere. Her tail absentmindly flicked down beside the side of the fountain, poising her question carefully this time. Waiting until Elana had a chance to reply about the wings, she rested the brown bag in front of Fai's lap.
If she knew Fai, then small fingers would soon be delving in for the sticky treat inside.

"Feel free to help yourself," The author commented with a kind smile, before bi-coloured gray eyes turned back to people watching. Maybe if she'd have known more about the two, she'd have watched more carefully, but Taley was clueless.
