So I've read the guide on how to make a perfect town; but what pattern actually works? So far a 1x1 square across and down doesn't work, you end up with too many trees. Now I'm trying a 3 across and 2 down; but I'm still working on that one sweatdrop
Does planting trees near the lake, houses, or bulidings (like the museum, tailor, shop, and town hall) affect the growth of your trees (like do they grow, and if they do, will the fruit fall into the water?)?
Any specific pattern's that you used that worked? Please share >w<;;

Try dividing it up into a 4 x 4 grid with each grid being 16 x 16 squares. A square is the same size as one pattern. The best way to begin would be to start with a full 16 x 16 grid, usually in the upper right or upper left section of town. Lay a pattern every square for 16 squares, then move down and repeat for 16 more. Do this until you complete your first 16 x 16 grid. Repeat for the rest of your town.
You must also take into account that the river will break "acres".
Eventually, you will end up with a grid pattern looking similar to this: (This is not the actual size of the grid, only an example) Credit is to be given to CMH from animal crossing community for this wonderful grid.
X = Pattern
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X X------XX------XX------XX------X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Now all that's required is to have between 10 to 14 trees in each "acre" along with at least 3 flowers

Does the trees that surrond the walls have to be regular trees, or can they also be fruit trees? And for the: Quote: X------XX------XX------XX------X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX------XX------XX------XX------X red X part, do those have to be regular trees or can be fruit? sweatdrop

it doesnt really matter, trees are trees and your fruit wont fall into the water, it will just fall in a different spot than normal

There can only be two-hundred trees in a town, and they can't be placed right next to rocks, other trees, buildings, pavement, sand, water, or bridges. Basically anything that's an object. For example:
G= grass R= rock P= pavement H= house T= tree BR= Bridge
GGRPPPPP GGGGPPPP GGGGTPPP
^ Won't work. It's to close to a block of pavement. Only this:
GGG GTG GGG
^ Will work. Or...
RGGG BGTG RGGG
Something like that. Now, since Nintendo makes their trees in stupid ways, they'll have a tree next to a building. That won't work, even if you cut it down and put a non-native fruit there. Unfortunately, I got my hopes up and wasted a perfectly good pear. Stupid me. Oh, and I need pears since it's the only thing I don't have.
But... that's how I do it. Sorry for this big block of text.

I've tried planting trees on blank areas(but still close to other trees) and they just die out. Is there like a limit on how many trees can be close to each other?

it doens't matter to much. i was able to achieve a perfect town with the trees that were planted there from the begining of the game, plus the extra non-native fruit trees. actually, i didn't get the perfect town until after the flower festival, where i just maintained the flowers that my animals had planted, and then i was able to get the watering can

I just did what they told me at the Town Hall. It doesn't matter where you plant the trees, as long as they aren't right next to something else, besides a flower.

[Z]ero_chan what can you do with coconuts? (i found them by beach shoreline yet when i plant it nothing happens) The only way i've been able to grow coconuts is to plant them near the shore but not right in the sand. More in the dirtline right before the sand :3
