Shadows danced across her calico back as she quickly padded through the ruins. Kichea needed to find Riku and pull him away so she could share her secret with him. She was a bit nervous at how he would react but after thinking about it for some time she knew it would have to tell him now. It didn't seem like that night was so long ago but she had already begun to notice some changes. He needed to know before the truth became more obvious.
She slowed, her golden eyes scanning the crumbling buildings. Her stomach was bulged a bit but, unless they knew it could still just seem like extra weight. It wouldn't be like that for much longer. She let out a small sigh. Where was he at... Shaking her head softly, she continued forward with a small smile. "Riku...", she whispered hoping only he would hear. For now he should be the only one to know.

Tamariku was walking through the ruins of the oasis, a passtime he had been doing more and more often. He found the stones and strange markings fascinating, and he loved to sit and make up stories of what the symbols may have meant.
As he walked through the discarded stones, his multi toned eyes caught sight of a familiar calico coat. He smiled to himself and hopped from the rock, padding over to Kichea he nuzzled her gently in greeting. "Hello there." He said with a smile. "How are you?"

Kichea's tail swayed slowly with excitement as his familiar face came into view and padded up to her. She nuzzled him back greeting him as well before speaking. "I've been quite well." She smiled and looked into his eyes for a moment, pausing, her mind covering all she had to tell him. Shaking her head lightly she looked around. "Is anyone near? I need to talk to you were I can't be heard. I don't want Nyek to hear...", She whispered a bit nervous but still excited. Walking around him she looked at the ruins, trying to spot a place to talk. She hadn't been this far into the oasis before, or at least she didn't remember her way around if she had.

Riku could sense the excitement in her voice and overall presence, and he smiled a little at her. "I don't think Nyek is around, but there's a private place to talk over here. Follow me." He smiled and jumped atop the large ruin before them, and padded towards the outskirts of the oasis. They were almost to the very edge of the sands when Riku stopped and motioned his head to a large patch of ruins, that looked like nothing habitable. "It's hidden." He said with a smile. "I found it by accident, I was climbing over them and fell through." He felt a bit embarrassed at the way he ahd found it, but he shrugged it off and walked over. There was an overlaping stone ruin and beneath it there was a small hole, just large enough for them to fit through one at a time. Riku waited for her to enter, and followed quickly behind.
Inside was rather spacious for a seemingly tight space, and Riku was just able to stand up completely without hitting his head on the cieling. "Nice eh?" He said with a grin. He sat down across from her, smiling, "So, what is it you wish to talk with me about?"

Kichea happily followed him to the edge of the oasis. It was a nice secluded spot that couldn't easily be noticed unless you knew it was there. She slide through the entrance and sat down inside, her tail swaying slowly on the floor. "Yes it's very nice... Probably even better than the one we stay in now." She giggled softly. It was all too exciting for her but she didn't know how he would take it. After all it would change both their lives forever and she had come to realization slowly. He would have it all at once. Taking a deep breath, she smiled and spoke softly," We're going to have cubs."

Riku watched as she sat and he smiled, knowing she was excited about this news she brought. He wondered what it could be, but when she said it his eyes opened wide and a huge smile spread across his face. "We're..." He began, but was unable to finish. He jumped up, almost smashing his head on the cieling, and nuzzled her happily. "Cubs! I can't believe it!" He laughed, never before feeling so good. He took a few deep breaths, and smiled at her, sitting closer to her now, as if he needed to protect her even more. "When did you find out? How long until they're here? Do you think we'll be good parents?" His questions flew out one after the other, and he laughed with embarrassment. "Sorry, I've never felt like this before... I'm so excited!" He smiled and nuzzled her again.

Kichea's golden eyes lit up, seeing his excitement and her smile grew. " I'm so happy your excited with the news! I am too, I can't wait! I guess I figured it out over the last few weeks and when I started to notice I was gaining weight in my belly." She giggled happily and nuzzled him as she spoke," I don't know how long til they will get here but I know it will be a bit more obvious when it gets soon." She smiled, set one paw on top of his and took a step back to look at him. He was so young, hardly what she imagined a father would look like and yet she knew he would be perfect for that very role. " I think you and I will make amazing parents. As soon as we get out of here we can teach them and show them what lifes really about... but that's another thing needed to talk to you about. I don't know what I'd do if Nyek found out or got a hold of them." Her smile faded and her worry started to spread to her across face. Through all the excitement and joy that was the one thing that troubled her.

Riku grinned as she spoke, chuckling when he felt her paw on his head. "Yes we will. We can teach them so much, this will be wonderful!" He nuzzled her again, but as she continued to speak he noticed the change in her voice, from excitement to worry. Riku hadn't even thought about Nyek yet, and as the lion crossed his mind he felt that all too familiar knot of hate inside him grow even more. "Nyek... He will never get ahold of the cubs, never." He said, nuzzling her gently. "Don't worry about him. He doesn't know of this area, we can conceal them easily here when they come. We will get away Kichea, I promise you, we will get away from here." He smiled softly at her.

Kichea smiled as he nuzzled her and gave her words of reasurence. "Thank you Riku. I don't know what I'd do if you weren't here to help me through all this." Her smile bightened a bit as she decided to listen to him and not worry about those things now. She stood back and slowly started padding around the ruin looking around. It quite nice to have for themselves, with a little work it would be even better. She would bring in some grass or leaves later to make a bed. "Yes, this can be our den and it'll do good to keep our cubs away from any of the others. Good thing you fell into such a nice place." She giggled remembering how he had come across it. Her tail swayed slowly as she returned to the enterance. "Think you could show me around? After all I might be spending quite a bit of time here." She smiled thinking happily about fuffy balls of fur again," We still have alot to talk about, like names and family stuff. I don't know alot about families..."

Tamariku watched her and smiled, glad she was feeling better. He laughed and nodded, "I've always liked surprises." He smiled and nodded, standing up. "It's not very big, but it does go down that way quite a bit." He said, motioning to the back of the cave. He walked next to her to the back, where the ceiling became even lower. He ducked down, grinning up at her. "This would be a good spot for them to play. I remember how much I loved hiding spaces when I was young." He smiled at the memory, and nuzzled her. "As for names, I think maybe we should wait a bit and see how many will be coming." He grinned, loving the thought of cubs.
He looked at her with a bit of concern as she spoke of fmailies. "Oh... I know how that is. But we're family now." He smiled softly at her and nuzzled her gently. "I'll always stay with you."

Kichea followed him to the back of the cave. She sat down and smiled as she listened to him. " I'm so excited. The more we talk about them, the better they sound. That sounds like a good idea, waiting to name them. Hopfully there's not to many of them. I don't know how many I could handle. Especially if they are anything like I was as a cub." She giggled and looked down at her paws for a moment. There wasn't much she knew about having cubs, all that she knew was by instinct and common sence. It would be quite a feat for her to care for more than just one or two, even with Riku's help, but it was a challenge that sounded exciting and fun.
"You're right... We are a family aren't we and we'll be even a larger family soon." She smiled softly and nuzzled him back, leaving her cheek against him for a few moments. "Where are we going to go when we leave here?" Her mind had started wandering again and she thought again about leaving but that was just it... Where would they go? She had nowhere to return but the open savvanah and there wouldn't be any family waiting for her.

Riku smiled and closed his eyes as they leaned against one another for the time being. "We could go back to my family. My mother is part of a pride, along with my aunt and uncle and cousins." He said, opening up his eyes to catch her reaction. His hesitated before asking his next question, "Do you... have anyone to go back to?" He spoke softly and with understanding, not wanting to upset her or bring up a sad subject.

Kichea looked up at him as he spoke, her cheek still against him. Her golden eyes lit up at the thought of a real pride and more lions to call family. If they were anything like Riku it would be paradise to live in their pride. “Me? No, I didn't live in a pride and my mom left when I was a cub. I just kind of wandered around after that." She frowned a bit remembering how lonly she had been, but then smiled weakly. " Your family sounds quite nice though. I wouldn't mind joining a real pride for a change. Do you remember what it's like there?" She spoke softly as she still leaned Riku and smiled. He was such a contrast to the world around them. She sighed happily and looked up at him.

Riku smiled warmly at her as he spoke, "It's wonderful. It's in the jungle, there's no sand for miles." He chuckled a little, "Water all around, and lots of trees and shelter. It's beautiful." He nuzzled her and smiled at the thought. "A wonderful place to raise a family."
