My father, being the a*****e that he is, has been researching filters for my computer. ('Cause that ******** doesn't believe that I don't have a ******** myspace). And I read an article not too long ago that said certain filters can check every IM you've ever sent. Help me! I'm scared to death. If he finds out about Sora...Or about me being, y'know, i'll probably get kicked out. Oh God. Please help, someone. Is there anyway I can persuade him not to get one?!?! Please tell me there's something I can do. Oh my gosh. I can't stop crying now....

I'm sorry. I know i'm always complaining, But I really need help. I don't want to get kicked out. Or something worse....D:

Hm? I'm confused. Is it some kind of faze parents go through, or something? I mean, Jesus Christ, He's asked me like fifteen times if I have a myspace and each time i've said No. Which is true. That ******** a*****e just refuses to believe me. Ugh. D:

There's no real way to check every IM you've ever sent. Hell, not even AOL could do that. Just to be safe, there are freeware programs you can use which will help wipe undesired material from your box.

Of course, there are really two issues here: 1.) he doesn't trust you and feels the need to search through your s**t, and 2.) you can't trust him to be reasonable should he discover your sexuality. Which, in your opinion, is the most pressing? (Honest question. I wouldn't split your energy between the two, is why I ask.)

I'm sure he's just worried. Theres alot of problems that happen though that site and all that adults see is whats on the news so then they get scared for their kids.

If you have MSN or Yahoo or any other type of IM messanger if you have message history you can click it and it should give you an option to delete any past IMs.

If you want teche advice on how to secure you computer. then if your *realy* parinoid, and I mean realy, realy worried aobut this then I would do this.(note: Following points only if your are VERY determaned, they are diffcult to do and can be risky) In no perticlar order.

1. Backup your data and nuke your hard drive with a secure file deleteion program like dban(Darik's Boot and Nuke) to delte your hard drive( WARNING: VERY RISKY: Only do this if you have NO OTHER CHOICE and make sure you back up all your data because if you use this program on the dod(Department of Defence) Mode or Guntman Mode you are not getting your data back of this hard drive EVER. Just a little fore warning there.... :sweat )
2. Re-install your Operateing System and put your backed up foles back on
3. Create a new IM account to be safe, don't use an online handle(name) that you usaly use.
4. Use an encryped IM service, You might be able to find an IM program that is purely Peer to Peer(that means that instead of Sending your IM to say Microsoft in the case of MSN who then send it to your GF that your chatting with. It would send it directly to your friend)
5. User TOR, google it, it an anoymity service
6. Consider useing an anoymiseing Live CD like "anonmy.os", again google it.
7. Consider useing Linux if you currently use windows.
8. Encrypt private data with a strong encryption program like PGP or TrueCrypt.

As I said, that was in no pertcualr order. and be very carefull with that DBAN thing. The "Department of Defence" Deletion mode is adiquatly named. It delteds ALL your data on your hard drive, Operateing system like windows included, to a standard that the department of Defence use. After that it's not comeing back.

I just use firefox's Clear Private Data Option. In versions of firefox 1.5 and above(the current version is 1.5.0.4, click "Help -> About Mozilla Firefox" to find out what version you have installed.) You can hit Ctrl + Shift + Del and it will ask you if you want to clear your private data. 3nodding

I use two browsers. Firefox and Flock. I use Flock for normal stuff and Firefox for specialist stuff where I have to remain anonymous. I have the Tor bar plugin for firefox for example.

Oh and do NOT use Internet Explorer. It records all websites you visit, even if you clear the history. Plus you might as well paint a large bullseye on your back and hold a sign saying "Install Spywere here!" if you use that walking secrity hole of a web browser. evil

I don't have a mac( crying ) so I haven't used it. I've heard it's based on Konqueror though. There is a mozilla browser for Mac though called Camino.
