What I don't get is how come something of that size is moving...
But since it is, how come it's not pulling planets out of orbit with it?

That reminds me of some stupid rumor I heard.
There was a comet headed for Earth, and it's supposed to hit us around the year 2018 or something.

What I find interesting also is that what if the meteor is something that no longer exists? What if it's just the light of the remains that have travelled across the galaxy that astronomers are just now picking up?

I'm going to guess it's still around. It's just probably smaller by now.
But all the same, God needs to lay off the beans.

Shaun The Bunny What I don't get is how come something of that size is moving... But since it is, how come it's not pulling planets out of orbit with it? Because there's no proof yet that something bigger may be around that we cannot see For example, we cannot see dark matter, but we know it's there because of it's gravitational pull on light The universe is HUGE, we barely know 1% of it

Father Knows Best ~ Shaun The Bunny What I don't get is how come something of that size is moving... But since it is, how come it's not pulling planets out of orbit with it? Because there's no proof yet that something bigger may be around that we cannot see For example, we cannot see dark matter, but we know it's there because of it's gravitational pull on light The universe is HUGE, we barely know 1% of it it also has to do with overall density.... Dark matter may be extremley dense but it also is quite compact (theoretically anyway) and as such its gravitational pull is more localized You then factor in that since Protostars within a nebula heat the gas of that nebula causing the outer layers of frozen gas to melt.... the outward flow of the gas as the heat generates Kinetic energy pushes the surrounding heated gases further away from the actual body of the comet it is complicated

Father Knows Best ~ The universe is HUGE, we barely know 1% of it Actually, I believe we know about a billionth of it, depending on who's theory on the size of the universe we're using.
