Taban had waited patiantly outside of the oasis, starring up at the sky until the stars began to take shape against the dark canopy of the sky. His aqua blue eyes narrowed as he mused to himself, casually glancing over a muscled shoulder towards the oasis. With a smirk and a hump he rose gracefully to all fours, shaking his fur out to rid it of the sand. Nasty stuff... dry...hot. Not his thing.
What a disappointment, here he had expected to see a mighty army of thick, brutal lions... only cubs under a giant bully who used fear and brute force to get his way- a large cub himself... stupid and no more clever than the hair tipping his tail. Some war lord indeed... pitiful. Far too... barbaric for his loyalty and skill.
Taban looked up slowly, his eyes picking through the shapes in the sky. Soon he found the guiding star, north... all he had to do was adjust his course a little. "Simple." He chuckled to himself, walking smoothely out away from the oasis. "Too...simple."

They hadn't got out yet, Harabu was worried about Amani and told her to rest, away from the others but out of the sun. He had gone to see if Nyek had started a patrol yet, the slaves where getting larger and he could still take them all on.
He reached the edge and saw the cheetah, a little surprised, there was no doubt about that, he hadn't expect Nyek to take on a cheetah and leave it to patrol.
He lowered his body to the ground stealthly and counted under his breath, one... two... three... pounce. He pounced, heading straight for the little cheetah cub.

The cheetah turned over a shoulder, though sand was significantly more silent than hard earth, it spattered and shot out behind a charging creature. He whirled himself about, the mane along his shoulders and head instantly rose up, making them seem like quills, his eyes blazed and his massive shoulders rippled as he lowed himself to the ground. "I do not suggest you attack me little scout... Dancing with a lion of my upbringing could be hazardous to your well-fare..."

Harabu let out the snarl as he looked the cheetah over. "You patrol but yet you dont have that stupid mark. Your only a cub, I could kill you so get out my way. I need to get someone to the healers.." The snarl never left his throat, his red eyes blazing. No one was going to stop him getting Amani to the mistweavers.

"Patrol?" Taban lifted his head out of his defensive stance, "...Patrol?" He chuckled, his large shoulder bobbing as he did so, "I patrol nothing...I owe no loyalty to this daycare and it's nanny... too barbaric... foolish the lot of them. He could not appeal to powerful, older beasts with wit so he steals youths from all over the lands and raises them in fear." He tossed his head casually, "They will grow weak and afraid, mindless zombies. Brutes I will admit- but moronic brutes marked by a mad cub for the rest of their lives."
He rolled his shoulders, casually tipping his head, "You speak of healers? Why that's a bit far fetched."

Harabu let the snarl go though he was still cautious. "Its a pride I heard rumours of, the Mistweavers. They have been known to heal and I need to get Amani there, see if they can wipe that ugly mark Nyek put on her." He watched the small cheetah cautiously. "If your running away... Nyek will try to find you."

"Hmmm... sounds intersting." Taban only smirked a bit, not caring to stray into the topic of the healing pride. There'd been rumors, there'd been stories, none more legit than the other... there could be truth in them indeed.
At the second remark Taban chuckled again, "The key word in that phraise... is try." He lifted a claw, "On the contrary... he believes me to be a cheetah... what use does a lion have for a cheetah? He is clearly mad...a lion of my age already has twice the wit of a brutish adult."

"That is indeed what I wondered when I saw you. I must say you are delusional and Nyek could kill ya pretty quick after all for what you might believe you are, the opposite seems to be true." Harabu then stretched. "Either way you are wasting my time. I have no interest in cheetahs who think themselves to be a lion."
He then turned heading towards a bush, "Amani, come on we better get going. This cheetah is irritating me." He then turned back to the cheetah and then at the night sky. "Good luck, a delusional animal doesn't normally live for too long." He let out a yawn waiting for the femme to appear.

"Hmph... indeed they don't. A pity- you're young too." Taban snapped his tail sharply and began walking out into the sands, glancing up to the sky to insure that his path was correct. Foolish lion...they were all mad. How dare they speak to a prince in such a manner? Once he met with Lucia and Fubar they'd give them a piece of their minds for saying such things.
Cheetahs... had...spots. He very obviously didn't, therefore he was no cheetah. Cheetahs were born of other cheetahs, not between a noble pair of lions.

Amani had enjoyed the short rest, though she did not sleep. It had given her time to think things over. She was leaving the oasis. And with Harabu, who seemed intent to have the mark healed without a scar. Did he really care enough the that the very sight of Nyek's mark made him that angry? She had almost dozed off when she heard Harabu call to her.
She stood and stepped out of the brush, blinking a little. "Coming, Harabu," she said and walked up to him, smiling a little. Her leg was just sore now, not really hurting anymore. She saw the cheetah he had refered to and tilted her head a little. He didn't have spots either, like the little pink cheetah cub she had met what seemed a lifetime ago.

Harabu smiled as she appeared.
"I am alot older then you are cheetah." He then turned, he and Amani were heading to the path that Harabu had walked a hundred times over. After all, it was the oasis he could always return to, the map imprinted in his mind.

"Age is a silly thing to call into play... you are larger, yes, and older, yes, but more mature? I'll have to question that." Taban chuckled inwardly, walking along casually. "...why... are you following me if you say I am such a fool? You and your lady-friend. She is marked, doesn't that mean that you are loyal to that pink brute? Or did I hear his speech wrong?"

Harabu snarled. "We aren't following you. We are going to the pride I spoke about. So you could get out our way." He ignored the rest of the cheetahs talk. He was a cheetah after all who thought he was a lion, how could he call himself mature!
Nope one last comment had to come in, "After all, you brought age into it. So think about who is mature. After all you think your a lion. you look like a cheetah, you have the body shape of the cheetah and you smell like one. Your deluded." He then turned to just leave. Stupid cheetah.

Amani walked by Harabu's side and sighed a little. He seemed rather irritated. Today was just not his day. "Harabu, it's okay. You can just ignore him," she whispered to him before looking to the cheetah.
"No spots. You're like Chukari," she stated with a small smile. "She was my friend a while ago, a pretty little pink cheetah with no spots. Except for one right in the middle of her forehead in the shape of a heart," she explained and frowned a little.
"I'll never be loyal to that... monster. I never want to think of him or this place again," she stated a little coldly, even shivering slightly as she turned to look ahead at where they were going.

"Believe what you will... cheetah or not, I've outwitted that great pink babysitter..." The cheetah flicked his tail to either side, increasing his pace in the sands forward, sliding down dunes and walking himself along the ridges of those that rose before him. Time was short- he had to make the journey during the night while the stars still mapped the path for him. When the sun came- not only would he be faced by the blinding sun glaring off the sands into his already pale eyes, but he'd face the heat and be without a map.
"I travel in the direction you seek, follow or fall behind."
