A young adult was making a casual pace across the shorter grasses of the border of the Pridelands.
In the passing days the pack had grown, four or five members now, and Haiji was well on her way to becoming a fully fledged adult. They were taking their time, but in doing so made sure that things were done right. Ujuzi was rather happy with that fact, and took the opprotunity to familiarize herself fully with the landmarks in the free territory they currently occupied. It would help later down the road in case they returned here in a state of need.
She did wonder, however, when the pack might take up moving once more. They hadn't traveled entirely far since Dhati and Mataka disowned them, Dhati denouncing Haiji every step of the way. That day seemed so far off and far behind now.

The hills were not alone on that soft day, infact another wild dog was currently wandering the lands, the rest of her group asleep about five minutes away. Miremba knew it was close enough for her to howl for assistance, but she kept silent as her form continued. The white pelt with blue markings made her look like a ghost, her form hunched and her eyes downcast as many thoughts trailed her mind.
Her paws halted after a long moment, and a sigh of frustration left her maw. Everything was moving too fast, and suddenly she could feel the pressure of the pack bearing down upon her shoulders. It didn't feel so long ago where she was under her father's watchful gaze, learning all she could about protecting her family, her friends. And now, after so much wandering, she knew she failed not only her family and mate, but her father as well.
These dark thoughts were cut short as she caught sight of another dog, Ujuzi to be exact. Holding her breath, her light blue eyes just gazed where the darker dog was, waiting to see what might happen. Had it been a few weeks before, Miremba probably would have fled upon first sight.

It took just a few seconds for Miremba's scent to drift into the nostrils of the other.
Ujuzi lifted her eyes to the distance, spotting the other while continuing on her way. She made sure her approach didn't give off any signs of threat, not wanting to alarm the other, especially since there were many other scents mingled in with her's. She had a pack, or a family, it seemed, and Ujuzi did not want to have their wrath come down upon her or her own friends for a misunderstanding.
"Hello," She greeted politely, voice soft but assured as well as she drew near enough to speak without shouting.

Miremba lowered her head lightly as the other moved closer, eyes trained though no other sign of aggression. While the while dog knew that she wouldn't survive in a fight, she still hoped to have the advantage of speed. As Ujuzi moved closer still, Miremba waited until the words were spoken before she stepped back, as if struck.
"There goes the strong front..." She murmered as her ears fell, before lifting her head once more and sending a shaky smile back towards the other.
With a stronger voice, she responded lightly in turn, "Hello..." Tilting her head to the side, Miremba added thoughtfully, "Strange how more Wild Dogs end up through these parts now a days..." Working to keep her smile strong, she flashed it once more at Ujuzi as she waited to see what might happen.

"It does sometimes seem as though we're all drawn to this point, doesn't it?" Ujuzi conqured in question, watching the other while leaning her head down and reaching a paw up to scratch at her ear with her hind leg. It itched terribly all of a sudden, a fleeting irritation.
As her leg lowered again and her neck and head straightened Ujuzi gave the other a quick once over, nodding her head in a formal greeting afterwards.
"But, better to find many wandering nomads than parentless children..."
For that was how she'd come across Dhati and Haiji, two children wandering together in search of others to form a pack.

Miremba took on a pained look at her responce, and murmered a soft noise of agreement. She knew not to blame Ujuzi for the sudden onslaught of past memories, for the darker dog could not have known of Miremba's past. It had been when she was only but a juvenile that she had traveled across the lands as well. After a long moment of silence, she shook her head and forced away the memories. Now was not the time for her to look to her past.
"I have not seen many children lately..." She spoke up after she gained control of her voice, and her eyes met the lavender ones of Ujuzi, "The last time I ran into one was when I had hardly grown into my adolescence myself...though I am sure more pups will scatter the lands now that more adults are coming forth from their youth."
Nodding as if to strengthen her view, she paused before bowing her head in another sort of respectful greeting, forelegs bending slightly as well.
"My name is Miremba, it is a pleasure meeting a fellow Wild Dog within these lands."

She'd struck a chord, that much she could blatantly tell. She didn't exactly look the part of apologetic, however, but her eyes did soften.
As Miremba finishhed speaking Ujuzi thought carefully over the other words while offering her condolances.
"I apologize, it seems that I've said something a bit out of line somewhere. It's a pleasure to meet you as well, and agreed. I had started to wonder. It seems just months ago I came upon the first two I've seen in ages. There are roughly five of us now... but I'm rambling. I'm called Ujuzi,"

She faltered slightly, though covered it well as she listened to the other's words. With a long sigh and a shake of her head, Miremba sent a smile before her ears flattened in a relaxed state.
"There is no need to apoligize, for many do not mean to bring up my memories so," and by leaving it like that, she brushed away the pain and kept her smile strong, just like always.
"Five of you?" She asked, changing the subject along with Ujuzi, "Does that mean you are within a pack?" All sorts of good ideas flowed through Miremba's mind. She knew that if she were able to send a scout out, they might be able to make an alligance with Ujuzi's pack, so it was better if the white dog got as much information as she could.

A small nod of understanding, and Ujuzi let the subject go. All was forgiven, it seemed.
"Yes, I'm a part of the Hamaji pack, my alpha is Haiji."
She tried to get a read on the other's reaction, judging at least that she found the idea of Ujuzi's pack to be a point of intrest, but not much more beyond that. She'd wait before going further, to see where Miremba wanted this conversation to go.

Her nose curling lightly in thought, Miremba kept silent for a moment before shaking her head and smiling meekly.
"I do not know of the pack nor of your Alpha...though maybe we could work something out. You see, I am traveling to reclaim my packlands in the south, and if the need be it, I shall step up as the Alpha as well..." Not sure why she would say this, Miremba had hopes that maybe they could form an alligance in the future, though her hopes for such things were distant and a reach.

Ujuzi's tail thumped against the ground a few times as the other spoke. It was clear by her expression that the tan and black female had not been surprised nor taken offense to Miremba's statement. Who, after all, would know of the Hamaji still except in children's story or old fables?
"Work something out, is it safe for me to assume that by which you mean an alliance?"

"Indeed," Miremba responded quickly, her voice soft though her tone was one of pure delight. However, her smile faded quickly as she relized some difficulties.
"It would not be possible until the pack is back and together...for we must vote as a whole...as well as a representive of the pack must journey to your lands and speak as well as work everything out." She paused in deep thought, before sighing, "Or you could always come and visit, if you feel it is safer for your pack. At least I know of you, so it would be easy to let my friends know of your journey...but I am getting ahead of myself..." She seepishly smiled once more and metally yelled at herself. She was acting like a puppy again and probably was coming off the wrong way for Ujuzi.
