I was wondering why there wasn't a video game chat thread in the guild yet... But anyway, here are some games that are cool and some I wish I had now, damnit.
~Cool Video Games~
Dynasty Warriors 4 (PS2): Meh, it can get repetitive after a while, but it's still fun and cool as hell. Lu Bu and Gan Ning are by far the biggest badasses in China.
xd Devil May Cry (PS2): One of the best games period. I've beaten it about 5 times and it still hasn't gotten old. Dante's the definitive of video games badasses. Though DMC2 was God awful, DMC3 looks better than the original DMC.
biggrin Halo (X-Box): Basically the only reason I still use my X-Box. It's a bit short though, but fun as hell in multiplayer. But I swear if one more noob makes a topic about Halo 2...things won't be pretty. *gets cage of rabid Flood*
twisted Final Fantasy VII (PS1): Yes, I'm a FFVII fan and also a Sephiroth fan, but not a rabid one. *kills rabid fangirls that only like "SEFEFEFPHYYY!!!11!1eleven11" for appearance* The story was incredible and was made all the more better when Aeris died. *laughs evily, then stops suddenly* By far the best RPG and one of, if not the, best video game of all time. And I lost count of how long I had One Winged Angel stuck in my head, until I bought the soundtrack.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2): The fifth installment of the infamous GTA series. Taking place in Vice City, Florida during 1986, it blows GTA3 away in my mind. Tommy Vercetti is sort of a funny when angry character and blowing up people and cars with an uzi has yet to get boring. Not to mention the soundtrack full of great 80s music, as well as radio stations like VCPR and K-Chat which are funny as hell and let you listen to what happens when you put a goth, a con, and a girl on God knows how many anti-depressants and have them discuss important issues with a former clown, self-obsessed host.
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube): I've played just about every single Sonic the Hedgehog game there is, and this one's by far my favorite. Great soundtrack, storyline, and characters made all the more better by the fact that Eggman is still being a persistent b*****d.
xd ~Games That I Wish Were Out Now~
Devil May Cry 3 (PS2): Despite the major upset that was DMC2, the third installment of DMC looks promising. The concept of using one of four combat styles (Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Trickster, and Royal Guard) seems very cool to me. But one thing that's making me somewhat skeptical is what Game Informer said Dante's voiceover sounds like.
Game Informer
...we can certainly say that DMC3 bears more resemblance to the revered first entry in the series, with the exception of voiceover work that makes Dante sound like he'd rather hunker down with Haagen Dazs and watch Moulin Rouge than rid the world of evil.
I hope they're just over-exaggerating.
sweatdrop The only thing that makes me more aggravated than if Dante's voice did sound like that, is that the release date of DMC3 was pushed back to February.
stressed Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires (PS2): OK, so now this is the second spinoff of DW4 and also the first DW spinoff that wasn't Xtreme Legends. I'd rather have DW5 but DW:E looks to be the best DW yet. With a new mode that has you conquer land like a giant game of Risk, it should make for interesting gameplay even for those new to DW. You actually have to make decisions during the battle (ie: to help another general, to heal another general, to aid your men, etc.). But unlike DW:XL, DW:E is
NOT an expansion for the original DW4. In other words, you only start with the original start-out characters of DW4 (Sun Jian, Sun Shang Xiang, Huang Gai, Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, Guan Yu, Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, and Xiahou Yuan) as well as only the first three stages (The Yellow Turban Menace, The Yellow Turban Fortress, and The Yellow Turban Rebellion). And you can also use lesser known officers of DW4 (ie: Jia Kui, Cao Ang, etc.), and use character types in edit mode (ie: Strategist, Better Nanman edits, etc.). Another new character edit feature is that you can use weapon types the characters of DW use, and the weapons you can use are unisex. For example, you could give a male character the giant fans Xiao Qiao uses or a female character Meng Huos giant claws. This looks to be a very promising game, but I just hope that once DW:E is released that they stop the DW4 spinoffs and work on DW5.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2): One of the most anticipated games of the year, GTA:SA looks to continue the infamy and controversy started by GTA games. The same basic gameplay from GTA3 and GTA:VC is still there as well as some new features that make gameplay even better than before. You play as CJ Johnson, who has spent the last five years of his life in Liberty City and returns to his hometown, Los Santos, to pay respects to his late mother, who was murdered. The story is basically CJ coming back just to pay respects to his mother, but gets dragged back into the gang life he left behind five years ago. First off, this is the first time an African American played the lead role of a GTA game, but you shouldn't mind unless you're a racist a*****e. But something that's caught my eyes is that you can customize your character's appearance. Among the things you can customize are hairstyle, physique, weight, driving skills, clothes, possessions, weapon skills, character, relationships, and you can even start a small gang. Los Santos is about five or six times the size of Vice City and there are even small country areas between each city. Something also new to GTA games is that your character's appearance changes depending on what he does. Like if he eats too much fast food, he'll become fat. Going to the gym can turn a fat character back to normal or just make your character buff. And vehicles get rust and dirty as time goes by. There's also a vast number of new vehicles, among them are bikes, police motorcycles *cough*Chip*cough, bulldozers, biplanes, quads, and tractors. There's a lot more, but something tells me I've already used up a lot of space.
sweatdrop Well, that's that, I guess. I'm off to go do something better with my time. *leaves*
