This is basically a thread for people to talk about different cultures and norms that they have seen while visiting other countries and how they differ from your own. For everyone's first post, please give:
Your name Where you live
My name's Kyle: I'm from Northern Ireland. In Northern Ireland, there are several dialects and these are often centred around particular families. For example, my family uses: Dialect: Meaning
Pruck/Tasty Convenient Savouries: Snacks Public Conveniences: Public toilets Glory Hole: Door to attic (door in ceiling) Wastepaper basket :Bin/ Trash can<--for Americans
I enjoy Irish music (usually played on violin, tin whistle flute, bodhran (pronounced boron-a sort of Irish drum that you hold vertically)
Please, feel free to post about your own country's cultures and micro-cultures!!! Let the culture spread!!

Is there any cultures you'd like to try out? Personally, I'd love to live in Japan and follow Japanese culture-it just really interests me. The whole idea of tables being knee high, speaking such an elegant language, anime/manga, samurais is just a culture I find completley fascinating. I'd love to either live there or go on holiday there-t'would be great! 3nodding

I'd hate to be Welsh though. Mums there usually mother their children so that we have goofy, teenage-like 19 year olds like Glyn from Big Brother (UK only folks). God I hate him...

Well...My real name is going to be a secret. ninja I live in the U.S.A. About this place.....it's....special? I don't know. I'm with Rebel on this one, just ask me and I will try and tell you.
Places I would like to go. As Aquila said I would like to go to Japan. I would like to get a job there and live there when I get older. I'm going to Japan on a school trip next year, so I can stake out some land then. xd But the trip should be fun, and I hope to learn some new things while I'm there. 3nodding

it has been my exspirance that smoking ciggarets is a norm there. every one does it. they dont have the same tabo's in other countrys as we do here. it is very weird to see other cultures think of dayley activoties and tabos. has any one eles noticed that?

@Cocano:
Yeah I noticed that. The only forein country I've been to is Spain and there, when they saw us walking around at siesta time, they nearly had a corona. I've been studying this is preparation for my Sociology A-level and whenever someone thinks that another culture is bad or inferior to their own, it's called ethnocentrism. I'd also like to go to Australia and I can thank Finding Nemo for this-the whole Sydney harbour scene looks great! I'd just love to live there and experience the whole Xmas dinner on the beach and such...

Oh crap, I have just realised that there is already a cultural exchange thread but people only seem to be stating their different bloods and then leaving. I swear that this thread was my idea, I swear it!! Is it ok with everyone if we continue with this thread though??
ps. I'm sooo sorry Neitsabes! gonk I didn't steal your idea I promise, we just had the same idea!! I'm sorry!!

xd It's fine, this one just seems to be more in depth. You should have known it was fine when Blade claped for it, since he is one the the oldest mods in the guild.

hi I'm Katherine and I live in England.
England can be considered pretty damn boring..and people usually think the weather is really bad. It's not as hot as other countries and it may rain more often but we don't have large storms or dangerous weaether, so it's all good xp
The main reason tourists come to England is to see the countryside, because places like America don't have any like we have. It's green and there are plenty of fields. We also have quite a few castles and the historical elements are relevant. I love visiting castles and always have since I was a kid. People seem to be interested in the myths and legends that tie in with the historical castles.
I live near Manchester, which is a city in case you don't know. Most people remember it because of Manchester United rolleyes who suck, by the way xd It's an alright city and I like to live here, the people are generally nice but what mostly attracts tourists is the countryside in other parts of england or the big city of London.
I like living here ebcause after having been to America I find the way we live here much more comfortable...no wide open spaces here, closer communities and more individualism.

I've been to London! surprised It was pretty fancy, I did get to walk around 1 or 2 castles. Unfortunatly I was only there for a day or 2 so I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked, but what I saw was pretty interesting.

I've never been to London. And I don't really want to to be honest. It's too busy...I live near a busy city but it's not like london..it's a bit like the country mouse and the town mouse story xp
