My local arcade finally got a new machine, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
It has the Extreme logo on the very top, but below that it looks nothing like an Extreme machine. It's pink and blue, and the buttons are different. It also has metal pads I haven't seen before. Really shiney... red arrows.
It's not up to go yet, but the screen was on so I caught a glimpse of a few songs on preview. And they weren't any from Extreme arcade version. D: There was Only You and some other weird song... with a pixellated video of people dancing... and toast popping out of toasters...
Sorry about being so vague, if I can, I'll get a picture of the thing.

weird.. i'd almost think you gotten the DS Fusion with that song "move your feet" from senoir junior... btw, thats the original video clip, a funny pixelated song.. and yes, it has those cell-shaped chara's that people might remember from old arcade versions, and console versions.. note: the 2nd release of the DS Fusion, can record highscores, and is also upgradeable to DS SUPERNOVA edit: here the video clip of that certain song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmMln54lt9A

Did Konami really make the Dancing Stage logo for it?

It doesn't really look like that machine...
The screen was quite on the small size, and below it, the machine was hot pink on one side and blue on the other. And right under the screen there were two pictures of discs.
Then, above the buttons it has the words "Decide"... which I haven't seen before.
But yeah, that was the song on it.
Also, on the start-up screen (where it goes through a green screen with text and KONAMI and whatnot...) it says "Max and Max2 now in stores!" which I haven't seen on any arcade machines before.
I can't find a picture of it on google either. D:

Do you know of any documents (online) that say it's illegal? It'd help if I decide to report it to them. I'll check the konami site. Maybe I can convince them to get a Supernova instead... ninja

Ahh, okay. I'll just explain to them that the arcade machine they bought is illegal because the songs were copied off of the PS2 game. I'm sure they had know idea when they bought it. Clueless theatre people and such.

Update:
So I went there tonight to take a look.
We decided to have a game to test it out. First of all, they jacked up the price of tokens. It used to be a dollar to get four tokens, and now it's a dollar to get three. Making it an odd number was a really jackass thing to do, since all the games cost even numbers.
We battled to get the machine to accept the tokens, all EIGHT of them, for a good ten minutes until it finally worked.
And yes, it was just Extreme for PS2. And another thing, modifiers weren't enabled, which really pissed me off since I'm a speedfreak. D:
And one more things, the new mats SUCKED. They looked brand new, but they're s**t.
So yeah. We walked out on our first song and gave a group of girls the rest of our songs. Waste of 2 bucks, that's for sure.
We told the manager that the machine was illegal, and she had no idea. She said that they have no say in what machines they get, but the people (I don't know who) are coming in in two weeks so they'll take a look at it.

Yeah, you just described what we have at our bowling alley. Shitty pads (with TX-1000 panels), EX US in it, and no modifiers. Was the judgement difficulty also jacked up? Ours has the judgement and life difficulty set to ridiculously high levels. Had I gotten anywhere in the song, I probably would've gotten single-digit Perfects. D:

I just walked off the mat about 30 seconds into the first song. 1x kills me. D: PS - This is Tawney. I keep forgetting I'm on my boyfriend account. Who also happens to be in the DDR guild. rofl
