.: Thunder Rolls :.

All things considered, his mood was far better than it had been within the past couple of days... At least, than at had been since his last (first) encounter with a certain mare. He was running through the open feilds, bucking from time to time in a way that left his main and tail to flutter like a wildfire amongst the grasses, blazing against the dark midnight of his coat... And the open night sky.

The air was cool and calm. The sky was clear save for somewhere in the distance where clouds were forming. A storm was on its way. He knew it. He could feel it. The entire air prickled with electricity... Or maybe it was just the excitement tingling along his hide. Either way, this night had so much promise... If one could properly seize the moment.

The young mare gave an excited whinny and rounded herself. Out of the trees she ran, weaving her lean body through them and out into the valley she ran. The storm seemed to n** at her heels as she ran, nickering with freedom and the thrill to be alive. Her short white tail streamed behind her as she ran, her thundering hooves the pre-curser to the lighting that would soon strike the ground. She feared it not. The storm would be a bad one yes, but she would watch in awe, the power of nature and the spirits around them.

A Midnight Black speck in the distance, outlined in fire caught her eye. That could be none other than Remy himself. She Reared herself up, hooves striking the sky. She Nickered to him and bound forward again. Kitara found it no surprise that he was out here during this time either and was glad to seem him again.

As the sky darkened the painted Tobiano stallion pranced about feeling the vibes of the storm. He lifted one fore than the other in a dance flicking his tail as it swayed back and forth. Life was good he thought just out there in the the midst of the beconing storm. That was his time to shine as he continued his waltz in the dark curtain surrounding him. Dripped of chocolate and white vanilla he moved smoothly in an unbroken gait.

His ears caught a whinny of someone close causing him to cease his steps to watch the chocolate mare race towards a stallion that glowed in the distance. Snorting he began a trot that increased into a full canter . Still his steps playful and elegant he neared toward them noticing his sister Kitara.

His ears tilted towards the sound of the whinny, nostrils flaring with a playful sort of snort as he reared back, battling the sky as he 'roared' in greeting. He remained standing on hindquarters alone for as long as he could, taking a step or two before dropping. Should he wait... Or should he run, bidding his petite beauty to take chase?

He chose the former, waiting so that he could greet her properly... See if all was well... Make sure that she hadn't...

That she hadn't run into that big, bright excuse for a stallion... That he hadn't been able to insult her to her face because, if he did... His eyes narrowed as, watching her, he caught sight of another in the distance. He stood his ground, ready to defend her should he so need to do so.

She was delighted to see that he had seen her and was waiting at the crest of the valley for her. She smiled as she trotted to his side, near breathless but she wouldnt dare show him that weakness. Her tail flicked behind her as she pranced before him. "Hello Remy. Some how I knew a night like this would pull you out..." she giggled and followed his stare off into the valley. there she saw the dancing steps of her brother and rolled her eyes. She nudged Remy and Smirked as the chocolate stallion approched them. "Takoda what are you doing out, Dancers should stay in doors during a storm." she said with a sneer. "Or is it because the beetles are in hiding tonight?" she asked with a tilt of her head. She giggled and pressed her nose to his to show that all was in jest and good spirits. Although she was a bit miffed he had followed her.

Shook his head as he neared them still in stride. "Who says a dancer has to be cooped up in the midst of a storm brewing sister?" he chuckled now coming straight up to them. "Should say the same thing for you as well knowing those beetles will get you in your sleep one day."

He turned to the stallion she had approached noticing that his coat did indeed glow as he saw in the distance. "Hello. I'm Kitara's brother Takoda. " he nodded with a friendly smile. Curious as he was to know what relationship these two had he held back not being pompous or rude about it. He was the friendly type who loved getting to know others save for the dung beetles.

"Evenin', chere..." He reached out and, for a moment, she might think that he was about to touch her neck with the tip of his muzzle. He was about to... But he stopped the moment the other stallion approached them, glad that he had ceased his actions the moment the other two began speaking with one another.

It was only upon hearing 'Takoda' call Kitara his sister that his tension seemed to fade. "Brotha, eh? Mah pleasure." He tilted his head into a slight bow before looking the other stallion in the eye. "Remy LeBeau. D'ose who know me bettah, like da petite chere here, jus' call me Remy... Since you her family... Ah guess you can call me dat too." He had a broad smile on his face, trying to make a good impression. So far he'd done well with good impressions on stallion's... Save for that one...

Kitara smiled as she looked between the stallions.. Takoda wasnt being suddenly over protective like she had feared...this was going well. She nudged Remy lightly with her muzzle and smiled at Takoda. "True enough Brother... " she said with a wry grin, her white tail flicking against her chocolate pelt. "Remy has become a good friend of mine Takoda...we raced together." she said with a giggle.

The wing began to pick up, blowing fallen leaves towards them, a few got stuck in her hair and she shook her mane. "Bleh... That storm's comin..."

The chocolate dripped stallion looked to the horizon and frowned. True that is was wonderful to dance in the electricity the spirits made but rain.. There was another thing he could do without. He smiled genuinely at the stallion remembering his name well. "Aight then Remy. Call me Takoda and we're even." he winked with a friendly nod.

Sniffing the air the rain was closing in as the streaks of lighting trailed across the sky. "Hmm getting closer now.. thought I had more time." he sighed with a swish of his tail.

"Takoda it'is." He nodded, tossing his head back as he did so. The electricity was growing nearer. He could feel it just as much as the others did... And, when something 'dangerous' grew near there was only one thing he could think to do (well, two, but one couldn't exactly fight a storm while the mare ran and he had a strong feeling that Kitara would have stayed to fight beside him anyways). He tilted his head towards the sky, eyes narrowing as he attempted to judge just how much time they had. "... You in da mood for a race, chere? Dis time it you, me, Takoda.... An' da storm."

Kitara chuckled tossing her head back with a wild whinny, she lived for moments like this. "Im always ready." she replied to Remy, a glint in her amber eyes. Her gaze then fell upon her brother, how would the dancer fare in a race against the storm. She smiled, for although she picked on him often enough, she loved him deeply, and she also knew that he was in fact the stronger of her siblings... unfortunately. Kitara tossed her head back again, her snort mane bobbing behind her, white foam on the sea of chocolate waves of fur. "Let it come then!" she said, rearing back, her front hooves pawing at the sky, agging on the growing storm.

He danced in place feeling the aura surround him, electric fibers grazing his fur with tiny shivers. as the sky darkened he smelt the rain as she traveled in the vast indigo sky. Chocolate dazzled betwixt the white causing him to glow in the contrast.

"To dance against my sister in the fury of nature? I live for it Kitara! Remy shall we give the storm a race for all its worth?" he questioned pawing the ground a firm flick of his tail black as ebony. Rearing up himself he looked like a dancer pawing at the air as she did. So started his love of things more exasperating than he ever could have imagined.

Nature's fury all around him. He was ready for it.

"Oui. Let's go." He took his turn just as easily as the others did, rearing up to pound the clouds just as a bolt of lightening streaked across the sky. His hooves hit the ground in time with the rumbling sounds of thunder, kicking up dirt that formed a small cloud of his own.

It would be the last cloud of dirt that they would see for the night... Just as the race began, so did the rain.

Kitara gave a giggle, a wild laugh that taunted the storm that nipped at their heels. "Catch me if you can!" she called back, wheather it was to the males behind her or the strom was uncertain.

The storm was begining to pick up as he raced onward after the other two. Strong muscled and determined his stride strengthened into a full gallop. Strewaks of lightning crashed down miles away yet appeared in flecks of purple whites near where they raced. Throughly soaked now he snorted and kept onward feeling himself grow wings and soar through those mighty lightning crashes far off in the distance.

"I'm catching up" he teased as he stretched out further letting his bunched muscles take the reins giving him more speed.

"I catch you, chere!" He nickered as he bolted after her, running alongside the spirited mare's brother. The race was on... The three of them against one another... And against the storm itself.

It would seem almost as if he ran fast enough to avoid the water droplets but, as the rain fell harder, the moisture could be seen clinging to the stallion's dark pelt. The beads glistened, catching the light as it flashed through the sky, drawing out the brilliant blue coloration that was often mistaken for the darkest black of night. Rain flew from his coat as he raced on, hooves crashing as the water pounded down around him.

Lightning darted against the sky, a shyer horse would have sighed at the very thought. But Kitara raced on. Her hooves beat against the ground, water flying from her heels. In her mind she raced the storm, the boys where never there to begin with. She raced for the sheer joy of racing, and she flew. She flew across the wet ground filled with danger as the thunder shook her to her very core. The mare gave a wild whinny as she raced on. The hoove beats of the males not far off, the storm was catching up.

Full fury now the snakes of electricity danced above their heads. A dazzling sight illuminating each form as they ran in sync across the semi drenched ground. Rain like droplets first pounded harder on the ground like a thousand walls falling toward the earth.

Soaked with a curly black mane and tail the stallion painted in browns and white like a fudge sundae pounded the earth for all he was worth. He heard in the near depths of his mind the ancient drumbeats of the natives. A power so unique and wonder it ringed in his ears.

The Wind Horse.

He felt himself take flight as his head lowered ears pulled back. Eyes distict chocolate brown not seeing anything but the shadows he raced. For a moment Takoda was in stride with the spirits. Thunder crashing the ground in mighty thrusts sought to edge him off course, but his love of running, a dancer in the storm he tore off like a demon. Crash.Rumble.
"his is why I was born" he thought to himself, "To dance with the spirits."

No matter how quickly the three moved across the plains, the storm remained close on their tails, threatening to overcome them... To drag them into its very core... To consume them. The electricity crackled, touching down in an area that was too close for comfort despite the freedom of the moment.

"Dis way!" His voice carried in a loud whinny as he veered away from the course that they'd been following, pausing for a moment to make sure that Kitara had heard him before racing on. There was a thicket not far into the woods; the woods themselves not that far from this part of the plains. They could watch the rest of the storm safely from there... For as glorious as it was to race with the storm, only a fool would fight it once it began to become clear that the storm would win.

The elation she felt was indeed short lived as the lighting stuck to close to her hooves. The rain began to fall in droves and as cool and refreshing as it was, her spirit feel with it. Sulking, pouting she turned at Remy's call. The woods would be the safest place for them, where the lightning had many targets and they where not a sitting duck in the clear open feilds. She sighed softly and rounded herself, her hooves splashing through the puddles that began to form in the low spots of the valley.

Intense. A crack of lightning sent Takoda's heartrate faster than he would have liked it to be. He snorted still pushing on as the cascading rain rolled downward lapping at his strong back and and neck. No longer did his mane fly in the wind on its own accord. For now it literally lay fuzed to his neck by the torrent of rain pounding upon him. Takoda now mud soaked knew this race was a non winning battle which saftey was the key at this time. Perking his ears to Remy he followed diligently turning himself toard the woods where the others lead toward.

He permitted his pace to slow only once they were within the woods, nickering softly once Kitara was closer to him. "Y'ran like da wind, chere. Gave da storm a good run." His neck stretched, the tip of his nose brushing against her before he turned back to Takoda. "An' you! Do'se be some fine dancin' moves... But now... Now we watch da storm dance wit da wild'ah'ness."
PostPosted: Tue Aug 01, 2006 9:07 pm

Kitara huffed as she entered the safty of the woods, as much out of breath as she was disheatened that she had to stop running. She smiled softly as remy nuzzled against her for but a moment, his words bringing a glimmer of happyness through her own cloudy Storm. Yes she had raced well. She smiled and nodded her head to the males. "Aye, Takoda you're more like father every day."

Takoda entered the clearing looking rather muddied and damp from the downpour that blanketed him. He couldn't explain that feeling of the storm that had almost spoke to him. He would tell Ascoscoi when he saw her of this day. How the dancer was one with the spirits, consuming his entire soul till his legs stretched out so far they nearly didn't touch the ground anymore. If that was as close to a winged as one could be he certainly held that power deep in his now heaving breath.

"Wow very good race. Kitara you two were so uncredibly in tune with one another. I only hope Ascos..." he blinked and shook his head feeling downright silly. "Ah nevermind... Thanks sis.. and Thank you Remy."
