The following is an account of the relationship between Imriel and Laramie; the latter of whom has attempted to obtain his father's approval for marriage. Asher, his adopted father, is happy for the pair and gives his blessing, yet his natural father Jean-Claude has voiced his reservations on numerous occasions. Julianna has not literally voiced an opinion, though Laramie suspects his 'mother' has similar reservations.

Time passed and Asher became impatient with Laramie's pining. That his son should suffer himself to wait indefinitely was both noble and stupid. Compared with vampires, Imriel's life would be short, and he was willing to wait for his lover as long as it would take. So, being who he was, Asher sent the pair on a trip to Paris. They had no choice in the matter. And yet, with a profuse allowance, the penthouse suite at a resplendent hotel, and free reign to get married on their own terms... could they really be upset?

During this trip, Asher has broken ties with his mates, Jean-Claude and Julianna. It is unclear the reasoning behind this, and he insists that the two events are unlinked. It has however remained in the back of Laramie's mind throughout the trip.

The future will reveal what fate has in store for this pair... but for now, honeymooning is bliss.

Laramie made every effort to act like he knew what he was doing. He had, after all, grown up with a European vampire. So naturally, one would think, he should know all about plane tickets and checking into fancy hotels in the middle of Paris. Something however seemed to stamp his forehead with American whenever he addressed the French in their native tongue, and something about the light in his eyes screamed tourist as he gazed upon his surroundings.

Like right now, as he lead the way to their suite for the first time. Its spaciousness, elegant Old World style marred only by their luggage which had been shipped here ahead of them, and something in the air - a scent, an atmospheric something that made him want to squeal.

He blinked rapidly and stepped aside for Imriel, a broad, slightly sheepish grin on his face. "We're home...or at least what will be home for the next month or however long we decide to stay." The last he could not help but speak with a little chuckle in his voice. He was downright giddy with happiness.

Imriel, don't pinch me... I don't want to wake up from this dream...

In contrast to his excited lover, Imriel seemed to have that mildly-interested nonchalance -- he'd grown up in France, and seen Paris a thousand times -- downpat. And while his absence hadn't been long -- really, he was ridiculously glad to be back in the City of Lights. It had been far too long since he'd watched the light of a cathedral shine out through magnificent, ancient stained glass and bathe the slushy snow in prismatic colors, or smelled the fresh, warm, yeasty scent of fresh-baked bread drifting from the boulangerie. He'd missed it dearly, and was eager to have the fresh, strong coffee served in the cafes -- but what he wanted most from Paris now was to share it with his beloved Laramie.

There was snow in his hair and on his coat and scarf, and as he stepped out of the shoes he'd worn, even though he was clothed he seemed in high spirits. "Home, indeed, petit cher. I am quite glad to be here -- I missed France, you know." He ran a hand back through his snowmelt-dampened hair and smiled brightly. "We shall make the very best of this -- I shall certainly have to bring you to the loveliest places, non? Although I am quite sure that between us, we shall not leave this room for a week, perhaps more."

His green eyes glittering with mischief, Imriel shucked off his coat, hanging it up on the hook behind the door, growing more comfortable by the moment.

"Of that I'm sure..." Laramie remembered himself, removed and put away his own jacket after tossing his hair and wings with a light shower of icy water droplets. "But we do not have to stay here if you would rather someplace else. Inari offered the use of a cottage in the countryside. He and his mate Pierre own it, said it's quite cozy..."

Here or a cottage, for now Laramie did not care where they stayed as long as he was with Imriel. His Imriel. That was what he was excited about, not the location, but the fact that he stood with his lover and mate, by law and eternal vow. Words... were incapable of describing how he felt now.

Laramie slid his arms around Imriel and held him close, cheek to shoulder. "Je t'aime tellement beaucoup, mon loup d'or."
