The arrival of the two Vectors in the Project Aquarion hangars (previously known as the Boiled Clam hangars) was for the most part eerily silent. Yes, the roar of the jet engines could hardly be called quiet, but the lack of hangar bustle, the lack of comm chatter, and the lack of much lighting did much to make the hangar bay seem empty. Only the big 'pineapple light' structure in the background was active. Still, as the two young pilots exited their craft, one man exited the shadows near Vector Mars. A very atypical Japanese man, strong featured and wearing a dark, patterned heavy coat. "An uneventful field test hmm?" He smiled. "No matter. Still, I am interested in any peculiarities you noticed."

Sparrow tried not to jump at the man's sudden appearance. She hadn't noticed he was there until he'd spoken, but she didn't want to display such weakness in front of - well, anyone.
"Pecularities...?" she echoed, brushing her dark hair away from her face. The girl seemed to think about it for a moment before shaking her head 'no.' "Everything seemed to go as normal, it handled as I would have expected from the earlier testing...though I didn't really do much with it, just flew in circles a couple of times."

Eileen took longer getting out of her Vector than Sparrow did: She'd explained to the other girl over the comm system that, "This was the good part." Still, she managed to catch the last of Sparrow's response as she performed her usually unnecessary gymnastics-style vaulting dismount, her long long braid spiraling after her and landing thickly a second after her feet touched the ground. Midpose, Eileen blinked past her bangs.
"a-ano, sparrow-san, who are you talking to?" A quick glance would show that the man was now nowhere to be seen, once more.

Sparrow turned to look at Eileen as she landed; it was always fun to watch her pilots acrobatics. She smiled, then answered "Oh, just to..."
She turned to gesture to where the man had been standing before, and her sentence trailed off.
"...huh." A glance around the empty hangar in both directions. "Where did he...?" She sighed heavily. "Oh, well."

"...a...ano..." stuttered the sometimes shy pilot as she blinked at Sparrow. "...there was someone here?" sweatdrop Eileen hesitated, fidgeting by tapping her pointer fingers against each other in front of her. Finally she took a breath,"...ano... ...w-wouldyouliketoseethebasenowthatwe'rehere?" The words were very very quiet, and accompanied afterwards by an inward wince. .oO(haaaaaa~....it all came out in a rush again! crying )

((I would know his name, right? If I wouldn't, ignore the part where I say it.))
"Yeah, I think it was...that Dr. Akimoto guy? I dunno, I'm bad with names..." Sparrow just kept staring at the spot where he had been, looking around the hangar to figure out where he might have gone. Unable to, she sighed and turned back to Eileen.
Just in time to hear her mumble something incomprehensible.
"Um...uh..." Sparrow blinked, not sure how to respond. She was sure that her ears were at fault, not Eileen...ever since she'd merged with Owle her hearing had been diminished. Tiamika's ears had been exceptional. Great, now how was she supposed to respond when she had no idea what Eileen had said?
"Okay. I didn't quite hear that...would I like to...what?"

Eileen blushed furiously past her bangs. She had lowered her head, effectively screening her face with her odd hairstyle, but the glow managed to seep through the strands. It was a little bit before Eileen tried again. Another deep breath.
"...ano...wouldyouliketoseethebasenowthatwe'rehere?" Another wince, but the words might almost have been audible this time.

Sparrow still couldn't quite make out what Eileen was saying, but she could at least be sure Eileen was asking her to...come see something? Maybe? The poor girl was already so flustered, it didn't seem like asking her to repeat herself again would do anything but make her more embarrassed. So Sparrow just nodded and smiled.
"Sure!"
She had no idea what she'd just agreed to, but she hoped it would become obvious as Eileen led the way to whatever she wanted to show her.

Eileen clasped both her hands to her chest, and quietly 'phew'ed to herself. "hai.......! ....ano...this way, if that's ok." She gestured towards the lift doors with a small indication from her still crossed hands, then waited until Sparrow had taken a couple steps so the two were walking side by side when she started.
Eileen led them outside the now-underground spaceship-turned-building, and towards the hexagonal plated above-ground structure that was likely the entrance to the ASDF complex proper. The sky was a nice hot blue, with wispy trails of white to mark the various contrails of jets that had passed by. The cracked asphalt the two walked on radiated some of this heat, creating distortions further in the distance. There were signs of battle on this pavement, the ground sundered in patterns which radiated outward from the inevitable small impact crater. The dangerous ones appeared to have been filled for a hasty but effective repair job.
As a small, yellow, six wheeled vehicle started to drive past, Eileen ran forward and flagged down the technician operating it with an energetic wave of her hands. He nodded, and stopped the cart long enough for the two to hop aboard. "ASDF main base?" He called out above the whine of the engine. Eileen nodded her head. "Cool, I was headed there myself." A glance at Sparrow. "You're new aren't you? I haven't seen anyone with your body modifications on the base before, if you don't mind my observin'."

"Alright," Sparrow said, following where Eileen motioned. They started off side by side, but it seemed like Sparrow naturally fell half a step behind...like she was used to someone else leading when she walked.
Her eyes sought the sky as they walked, her small wings twitching. Since she'd started flying the Vectors, she hadn't exercized her own wings much...
The craters on the asphalt caught her eye next, but she was soon distracted by the vehicle it seemed they were boarding. She hopped on after Eileen, and blinked at the tech in consternation.
"Body...modifications? Oh! You mean the scales?" She glanced at her own shoulders, as if they were suddenly foreign to her. A quick glance back to her fluttering wings, then her eyes returned to the tech. "Oh, I wasn't...modified, these are natural. Well, at least in the sense that when Tiamika woke up, she had scales, and when Owle woke up, she had wings." Sparrow shrugged. "Just a part of what they were."
Before he could start asking awkward questions about that, she added "Anyways, yeah, I'm new. The name's Sparrow, what's yours?"

"Oh... er...interestin'." He inserted a bit awkwardly. "Name's Tom. Tom Burns. I'm in Logistics... just got done deliverin' some toner carts." The vehicle squeeked to a halt alongside a security door. "Here's your stop. I gotta park this cart, but if you want we can talk more in the Mess later.
Eileen giggled a little, then hopped off. "ano...thanks for the ride, tom." She tossed him the tiniest of waves while waiting for Sparrow to follow. "...this is the base's main entrance." she stated in that quiet voice of hers, by way of introduction. "...when they properly finish with your transfer, you'll be able to enter here on your own..." She made her way to the side of the entrance and peered at a thin black panel set at eye level on the doorframe. "a-ahem...hello computer. one guest..." The panel blinked red briefly, and she placed her hand it in response.
The doors slid open. "...yay, the computer remembered me~! come on inside...!"

She smiled broadly at him. "Sure, Tom! I'll see you around." Never hurt to be nice to people.
Sparrow hopped off the cart after Eileen, and followed her to the entrance.
"Wow, that's pretty nifty," she commented, watching Eileen with the computer. "When do you think I'll be able to do that? It seems to take people an awfully long time just to go over some papers..."
So saying, she made her way inside...never letting herself walk ahead of Eileen.

Eileen put her hand behind her head and laughed lightly in embarassment. "...h-hai, it does take a while to get through just those papers..." a pause, during which time she brought her hand back around to place a finger on her lip. She tilted her head as she continued. "...ano, if you think about it...i think that it must be the number of people who have to see the papers, instead of how many papers there are."
She walked them down a series of identically constructed hallways while they continued talking. "...um, i think that you'll get the biometrics done faster than the papers....if it's ok, i think we can stop by logistics and security first to get you your quarters and your appointment for biometrics."

"Seems awfully inefficiant to me," Sparrow commented, shrugging lightly. "Ah, well."
She smiled at Eileen, continuing to walk beside and slightly behind her. After a few minutes she couldn't have told you which way they had to go to get out...everything looked the same to her.
"Bio...metrics?" she sounded out the unfamiliar word, then nodded. It seemed like something she needed to get done, and quarters would be good. "Um, okay! That would be cool."

((OOC: gonk Sorry Owle, got all tied up in my various projects, forgot to post! It's time to re-merge our RP with the Nida Ascendancy too, so gonna wrap up this part, then continue in the Nida Ascendancy thread))
Eileen and Sparrow eventually reached the Quartermaster's office, a generic seeming room in layout, liberally dusted with huge stacks of papers. The Quartermaster on duty at the moment was a Taiwanese man with leathery skin and stubble on his chin, chewing languorously on a toothpick. "Hoh." He greeted around the shard of tree in his mouth. "Whotdaya ned?"
Eileen very quietly began talking, but the man held his hand up to stop her. He leaned back and reached for something underneath the counter, then lifted it up and placed it in front of her. A bullhorn. Eileen blushed on cue. She meekly picked up the rude device, and spoke through it. "A-Ano. Sparrow-San Needs A Room Assignment." The man smiled as if proud of some achievement, then slid a clipboard with a three part form towards Sparrow. A pen was conveniently attached to the clip.
"Full taht up." After the form was completed, the Quartermaster gave Sparrow back what looked like a plastic stick of gum, a stack of uniforms, and a private's insignia. He also spat out his toothpick into a nearby trash can. "The first of the Aquarion transfers huh? Here you go, seven standard issue sets of uniforms, one dress uniform, your pips, and the temporary key to your room. The Lieutenant here knows where you'll be staying." He said, referring to Eileen's last rank before she left the ASDF for Aquarion Project. He then turned to Eileen. "Rora's old digs." She nodded. "Security's just up that way. Get your biometrics done, and that'll be it for today."
((OOC: I'll have a second post ready once you reply, for the Security part.))
