Yay, my first topic on the art fags board.

This is a tigerlily I painted today. It was rather quick and I added two petals because it looked super gay without them (it also looks super gay with them). Advice, tips, comments, condescensions, and critique are appreciated.

Medium: Acrylic on a piece of cardboard
Time: An hour or less, I wasn't keeping track

P.S. My scanner sucks at life so I took a picture with my digital camera, making the colors and stuff all wonky.

Lovely use of contrasting colors! Your strong dabs of paint really add character and beauty to picture. And the stem looks gorgeous.
I can't believe you did it on cardboard. Do you do that often?

Thank you!

No, I don't usually use cardboard but I found a piece lying around and decided to use it. It's also a bit more cheap than good quality paper xd

Hmmm... I'll go try to fix that.

Hope that works.

Two thingies- ouch black xp and bendy cardboard!

The colours of the flower are nice and bright and pretty but I think you have lost the shape of the flower and the shading upon it by missing out on lighter and darker tones and going for ka-pow! colours.

It would also be better without the kinky cardboard..although painting on cardboard is fine in itself and alot cheaper than acrylic board. whee

I admire your enthusiasm and I'd like to see more.

i was just about to type that thing fickle said about the form...seems to be lacking.
i also like the stront brush strokes, but they could stand to be refined or controlled more around the edges.

I actually find the fact that its painted on cardboard hella dope in that left fieldish way. I'd suggest that you get your mitts on a larger sheet of cardboard and do something more adventurous than just a small flower biggrin

Tigerlilies are my favorite flower, aesthetic-wise.

It's weird seeing a picture of just one of them. They usually grow in a couple. And in bouquets they usually come in a few. They're not like roses, where you would expect just one sitting there like that.

ficklefiend: Yes, I got a bit out of control with the colors and form. The black was planned to be more of a purple, but I made it too dark and by the time I noticed/decided to care, it was too late.

Page Boy: Form, you have thwarted me again. Blast.

warrior_of_boognish: Hella dope. Teehee.
Yeah, I was planning on doing the cardboard shtick again. I once saw a piece of cardboard about the size of a large wall. I really want to get my mitts on one of those.

The Dred Pirate Gossy: They are quite lovely, one of my favorites as well. It was in a cluster, but I was feeling lazy and only painted the one.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
