XX August 2008: Malas decides that she doesn't want to keep living under Huni's charity and goes to the Unit to ask for their help. Also she learns about the Birds and the Bees because the talk on puberty with Huni did not go beyond how her body works.
23 April 2008: Malas is now a teenager and is promptly kicked out.
XX January 2008: Again the ability resurfaces, this time with Kian. Malas is clueless about the 'sharing' of her own memories.
XX September 2007: Malas discovers that her ability is different in Gaia than in Silar and Jerra is the first to learn of this.
16 May 2007: Malas grew into a pre-teen, are those boobies? D8

  Angaippin, a fairly small planet predominantly blue in color. The level of technology is nothing spectacular, but it's not primitive either. The planet has two species that are considerend sentient: The predominant specie is known as D'lawa. They are bipedal and possess physical characteristics similar to Earthlings. They are physically strong, of high moral standards (some go so far as being self-righteous), but not too gifted in terms of magic.
The subdominant specie is known as K'luwa. They resemble the D'lawas from the waist up in that they are somewhat humanoid and posses arms, ears and etcetera. However, their nether regions are considered noncorporeal and having no permanent shape. They have superior magical prowess, are far more agile and flexible, but not too powerful physically.
Both species are intelligent, capable of coherent thought, and are quite proud of themselves. Both species are also highly prejudiced, biased and are bigots even with those of their own species.
The two species are not on the best of terms, having engaged in an attempted genocide that led to a war that spanned nearly five centuries. Eventually they reached a stalemate and a treaty was made to allow both species to co-exist. Under this treaty, the K'luwas were forbidden to come into contact with non-Military D'lawas. And D'lawas were not allowed to enter K'luwa territory, else they risk being masticated, decimated, bludgeoned, butchered, or hurt on sight. Certain exceptions were made depending on the circumstances of course, but it is unneccessary to go into those details.
If that wasn't enough, rather than leaving her at an ordinary orphanage where she would have the opportunity to be adopted, she was left at a military-run orphanage. Here, she was raised for one purpose: To someday fight against the D'lawa should a war ever break out again. It was obvious that the animosity between species was still in everyone.
A K'luwa's power is not evident until the child comes of age. Normal children (raised by loving parents or those raised in a healthy normal environment) need only to consult with an oracle and have the doorway to their magic opened. In the case of the children raised in orphanages, the orderlies were in charge of assessing their potential and if they were 'worth' the cost they'd be sent to the oracle and enrolled in public schools for further training. Those who were considered 'unworthy' were automatically registered for menial jobs (but even menial jobs received some respect).
Children raised in the military-run orphanage, however, were forcibly made to discover their talent from the moment their motorskills became developed. To do this, they were force-fed serums and potions created by the military. Said potions and serums would enhance their abilities and allow their supervisors to assign them a development plan. Now, Knot was a special case, no matter how many tests they gave her, no matter what serum or potion they forced into her system, no one could figure out what her magic was.
She was labeled a failed K'luwa, some even called her a half-D'lawa behind her back. Needless to say Knot grew up to be a maladjusted, nervous adult with extremely low self-esteem. She is awkward in any and every social situation, preferring to be a wallflower and observer rather than the being the subject of another individual's attention. She cannot stand to be left alone, however, believing that being alone was the utmost indication of rejection.
But because she was raised in a military-run orphanage, she was given the lowly task of cleaning up after everyone. Whether it was at target practice, war-games, even social functions. She had no rank, no position, no title, and no respect. But Knot didn't really care about respect, she just wanted to be with others even if they didn't talk to her.
Details of her crime are kept confidential to those who aren't high enough in rank.

Personality: 'Las is not the bright and bubbly girly-girl, nor is she the gloom and doom emo-girl. She is very, well, quiet and boring, one can suppose. She's very subservient and doesn't enjoy being given responsibilities or being accountable for anything in general. Her dependency on others, however, is not so much that she'll cease to function in society. She'll just be even more quiet than she already is. When her Knot-side surfaces, she can be quite curt and snide, especially with those she doesn't particularly respect. She is passive-aggressive and is very awkward when it comes to expressing her feelings.
Having a low self-esteem, Malas tries not to dwell on anything too much, whether or not she succeeds at that is beside the point.
Special Abilities: Able to 'draw out' memories and 'project' them onto a surface the way a movie projector plays a film reel.

I get the feeling even if I leave this out in the open, 'Las isn't even going to bother drinking it. Still, I'm keeping it on a high shelf so that when Haze or Huni drops by they won't think I'm totally irresponsible.
Every kid needs a pet, so I preempted her and got her one. Nothing with fur becuase we will have territory issues.
Hmmm, I wonder if this will keep me safe from her abilities? Sure they may be really dormant right now, but who knows? You can't be too careful, can you?

Ajiiel - Thoughts in progress
Autsu - Malas doesn't really think much about the winged boy. She might have respected him more if he was a little more authoritative but he wasn't. Still, he didn't force her into joining his little unit, Malas is still unsure whether she would have preferred if he had.
Dixie - 'Las briefly met Dixie and Archie when she arrived, she doesn't really know what to think of her.
Jera - Malas is quite intimidated by her, though she does respect the older girl. Normally she doesn't care about what other people think, but the needy side in her somewhat hopes and craves for her approval.
Kian - 'Las has a great deal of respect for Kian, especially since he doesn't mince words and has a commanding authority about him. She still feels a mite awkward around him given how she had unintentionally projected his memories of his past life.
Mortimer - 'Las is thoroughly glad she met "Etch" since she finally found someone who doesn't have two legs the way the D'lawans does. His silence is a little unnerving, which makes 'Las strive to learn the Gaian letters and languages. She hopes that the next time they meet they can communicate better.

Seveile - 'Las adores Sev, she's her first friend who actually said she was her friend too! That's quite a first for Malas and the winged girl has now officially won her over and her undying loyalty. Too bad Knot doesn't respect her for being so nice, but 'Las doesn't care about her Knot-self so that isn't a problem.
'Las is somewhat jealous of how interesting Sev is and she wonders why the other criminal likes her. She isn't sure how much she likes her back, but she is certain she doesn't dislike her. Maybe if they met again now that she's older?

Special Abilities: I can shift into any animal I've seen or read about and use said animal's abilities so long as I've either seen or read about these abilities. In certain situations (namely if I'm in Silar) I can shift just portions of my body into animal parts, but only that animal's corresponding part. That means no eagle-heads instead of hands, dumb-a**.
Relationship with Malas: Kid owes me nothing and now that she's big enough to take care of herself, my job's done. She should be off on her own now, frell yeah I'm making sure she's on her own. Can you say forced eviction?
