Grayish orange orbs scanned the path that lay before him. So much to think of after what had happened not long before, so much to muse over until he could think of reasonable answers to what he had endured, what others had endured..and what one suffered through.

Logan pressed onward through the woods, walking the dividing lines of the new land in which he resided in, a new pack, once more. But this was different, he had a less forceful duty it seemed, but he did like the excitement of fights, though he missed something...it seems he had lost something along the way.

His curled tail flicked back and forth now and then, his over fluffed pelt being pushed by the wind that whipped through the trees, rustling the branches over his head.

...where was he...

In thought he was lost, he could not place what he was missing inside. He had lived a decent life thus far, being raised in a strong pack. Trained to almost perfection, the only thing he could not do, was control the element of fire, like the shaman warrios of his pack could do. Thus he left his birthpack for that reason, to follow his own path, in search of what he could fill the void in his heart with.

His new pack, with Phib as his alpha seemed quite nice from what he had seen so far. Wolves strong and cunning, Amelie gentle, teh pups wanting to strive to become better...stronger.

...just like he once did...

But now his body was nearing his prime. Logan was young, true, but his mind matured very much, trained as a fighter he was, he could not leave that behind him, but he wanted something more...something or someone he could call his own, and protect.

He stopped for a moment, relishing in the gentle breeze that now passed by him, it was hotter here, even in the shade. His paws centered themselves on the dirt forest floor beneath him, as he listened to the wind, as if waiting for an answer.

Almost in answer to his thoughts, a howl broke out through the stillness of the day. It was a female, young but in adulthood all the same. She was calling to her sister, her twin, her world. The two had been living together for a few months now, ever since their parents had seemed to turn on them. And if there was one thing that Echo was thankful for in her life, it was the fact that she could howl on her own, without having to have someone else howl before her, as it was with her speaking. There was also her sister, but her thanks towards that strong female was beyond words.

And so the omega ended her howl on a good note, letting her sister know that she was safe and hadn't run into any hostile wolves. She was coming home. Well, their poor excuse for a cave wasn't exactly home, but it was the place they occupied and slept, lived their lives. It was more of a home than it would have ever been with their parents.

Standing still for a moment, the physically scarred female tested the air, sticking out her tongue to gather all the scents. The wind was blowing the wrong way and so she managed to miss Logan's scent, making her believe she was alone and safe to travel through back to Ophelia. With a swift wag of her tail, she set off towards the den the twins shared.

On her way, she passed many bushes, trees, flowers... all of them seemed to bloom with beauty for her. It was nearly summer now, and the heat was stifling. But that didn't matter. Echo and her sister were alive! Despite their parents, they were successful, if only in the smallest way.

Also along her traveling, she passed another wolf, simply loped right by him. Oblivious was the she-wolf as her paws passed silently over the dirt-covered groung. And if Logan were to glance over and see her, he would see a wolf that had never been before. He would see a graceful figure, despite her scars. He would see a female with her head held slightly higher than usual, no longer down in submission. He'd see the new Echo.

Tilting his head to the side he opened his eyes, which to his surprise spotted another wolf, quite close. Why hadn't he sensed them coming? Scent coming from them...was he getting rusty? He shifted his paws andwatched the form, a female he noticed...as she got closer....and closer...and there she went.

His eyes widened in surprise, she passed without a hello...or an acknowledgment that he was there...that was knew to him. His tail flicked back and forth as she walked past. Her color was ...different to say the least. Logan was used to seeing orange-pelted wolves, but the new wolves in thsi area were of all sorts.

But she seemed proud, though seclutive in her own way, graceful too...a certain aura of presence emanated from her, he acknowledged that, and honored that fact. He had not seen such a wolf that was littered with scars, yet hold that type of presence and hold upon themself...quite interesting.

He had to pursue it...

Logan began to pad after her, but not in a threatening way, he was slow in his movements, but his strong legs carried him to her side in mere moments, his long fangs might give him a threatening appearance, but he held a smile upon his maw, eyes focused on her as he padded alongsde her,
"Hello."

It was a bad habit of hers, the way she didn't really pay attention to her surroundings. Though she was female, she had a sort of one-track mind. And at the moment when she had passed Logan, her focus had been on where she was going, getting back home to her sister before Ophy worried any. So the fact that another wolf was walking right beside her came as a sort of shock.

At first her keen ears docked to the side, the very faint sound of his paws hitting the earth intriguing her for a moment. They were out of step, and she wondered if something was following her. But she didn't get a chance to really pursue that thought as suddenly a voice sounded out. And sure enough, it was right next to her.

Echo's reaction was something like a rabbit's. At first she froze, then she turned her head slowly towards him and, spotting a strange face, dashed for cover. The first place she saw was a rather large bush that looked like it could house about two wolves. Not even taking another moment to think, the skittish female darted towards the bush and dived right into it. She stumbled a little, but for the most part managed to stay on her toes and hide herself. Once she was comfortable, or at least slightly, she turned about and peered through some of the leaves.

Was he gone?

Logan tilted his head watching the smale females reaction. She seemed stunned...perhaps he should have been less forward? He watched her make a darting run for a bush for cover, did he frighten her?

...he didn't want her to be afraid of him...

Arching his ears backwards his already curled tail curled up a bit tighter as he crouched down a little. His belly just inches from the ground, perhaps if he was lower to the ground she wouldn't be too intimidated...he could at least try.

Taking slow yet sturdy steps in his crouched position Logan continued forward towards the bush that shield the brown femme from him. He stepped on a twig which made him flinch, it was spilntered but it didn't penetrate his paw, which he was glad for...one thing he hated was spliters. Wounds like gashes into his flesh were easier to deal with then a piece of embeded wood that could become infected.

He stopped a couple feet from the bush and his eyes tried to peer into it to meet her own eyes, he stayed down, and again called out to her, but in a more quiet tone, soft,
"Hello..."
His voice was usually low, gruff yet charming, but now he was trying to have it appear softer, he hated it when he came off too strong to others,
"Its alright..."

His voice was lower, softer, but for some reason he didn't have the female convinced. She didn't notice his fangs, so it couldn't have been that. Perhaps she was simply too jumpy and was still in shock from the fact that there had been another wolf walking right beside her without her knowing. That was a little disturbing. What if it had been someone out to tear her to shreds? She couldn't handle another fight...

As she lay there, belly pressed against the ground as her ears lay firmly against her skull, Echo wanted to call out and ask him who he was, what he wanted. But with her curse, that was just impossible.

"Hello, alrightalright," she whispered, blinking slightly as she saw him creep closer. Well, at least he was attempting to appear less frightening. That, for one, was a good sign to her. What sort of attacker would want to appear so docile when he could simply rush forward and overtake her? Simple logic, she thought.

Then, thinking that he just may be alright, the young female crawled her way out of the bush, but she was careful to come out farther away from him so that, if he did turn, she'd at least get some warning.

"Alright."

She stood there, tail between her legs, head low, ears back against her head, and looked at him. She was pretty pathetic then if one compared her to the wolf she had looked like earlier.

Watching her movements and hearing her voice Logan titlted his head at her actions, she seemed skittish and uncertain around him. Perhaps it was his fangs? Or size? Though she did say it was alright...but it an odd manner he noticed, she seemed to repeat everything he said, but in a different order...

Something madde sense in his mind, this must be the wolf that little black pup had mentioned breifly before. Logan had wandered across Malik as the child was wandering himself, he was talking about others he had met, rambling on, also telling about a female wolf, who repeated everything he nice, but was nice...her name was Echo.

The child had left out a few things though, or gotten some details wrong. Echo seemed older then what Malik had breifly described, quite pretty too...something thunked him in his head as he watched Echo with soft intent eyes. How to make her un afraid or worried he might harm her?

Better yet...what could be the funniest most stupid thing he could do that would make her possibly laugh and be more conscious of the fact Logan would not harm her...

He smiled at her softly and rolled over on his back, squirming a bit finishing his roll over and shook himself of the dirt...and sneezed...he didn't mean to do that..but oh well.

He turned to Echo and smiled, "My name is Logan..." he said in a husky low voice, "You must be Echo, pleasure." he said with a bow, his eyes still focused on hers.

Echo watched the other intently. She had just barely noticed his fangs, and they had only made her even more uneasy than she had been before. And his fur... it was bright, brighter than anything she had ever come across. Well, except for Razalah, but he didn't have giant fangs that stuck out even when his mouth was completely closed.

Flicking an ear slightly, she continued to watch him. When Logan randomly rolled onto his back and squirmed a little, she first thought that there might be something wrong. But then he sneezed and smiled. There couldn't be something wrong.

The female's stance loosened somewhat, but not much.

"Logan," she echoed, staying forever true to her name. "Must be Echo." She repeated the last, but with more shock. How did he know her name? Puzzled and slightly frightened, she tensed again and even took a step backwards. It was too odd that he knew her name...

It seemed like Logan's plan wasn't working too well. He still sensed she was still cautious around him, but too cautious, he wanted things to be at ease currently. He smiled at her repeating his name though, and then saying her name, her voice was quite nice. Though he was taken aback from her stepping backwards...

"No no no! Its okay!" he said in a semi calm voice, he didn't want to scare her. What was that kids name that told Logan about her? Malik! That was it!

"A pup, he told me about you...Malik! Remember him? He told me a story about you, said you were friendly and nice..." Logan seemed a little embarrased for a moment for being so straight forward with his onslaught of explanations, "but he didn't say how pretty you are..." he said with a smile.

Despite her physical scarring, even those, he did believe Echo did look quite beautiful in her own way. He probably shouldn't have said anything...he didn't want to scare her off or anything.

"I'm sorry Echo...I tend to sometimes be too forward..." with a swish of his tail he glanced to the ground and then back up to her. He wondered what she'd do now, stay or go? Should he say something else to try and calm her maybe? What else could he do?

The female continued to be uneasy around the male, though when he hastened to explain, she gave him all of her attention. He looked interesting and acted interesting, and she wasn't about to run away from him out of simple fear. She was attempting to become more confident and more courageous...

At first she found Logan to be a bit clumsy. But then she soon figured out that he was probably just nervous. He did seem a little intrigued by her as well. But when he mentioned Malik, things suddenly all came together and made sense.

"Malik!!" she randomly shouted, all of her fear forgotten as her tail began to wag with remembrance. "Remember, remember!" she yipped again, nodding and still wagging her tail. She had taken a step forward in her excitement, but his statement about her being pretty took her back again. "Pretty?" she choked, ears falling back in embarassment. No one had ever called her pretty before or quite looked at her like that. Well, one other did, but he was so strange she wasn't quite certain about his feelings.

Echo blinked, looked away, then back towards the male. This was a bit awkward.

Logan smiled and felt relieved when Echo seemed excited and remembered Malik, so he wouldn't look so suspiscious with knowing her name without even knowing her personally first. SHe seemed quite excited, perhaps Malik adn Echo were friends? Or played together or something...but Echo was older than he was...strange...

Despite those thoughts Logan shifted his weight and paws as his tail wagged behind him. He was surprised when he saw Echo's reaction to his statement about her being pretty...

Did other's never tell her that before? Or perhaps others had, and did somehting wrong, gave ehr the wrong ideas about other male wolves? Or maybe she was just taken back by his statement...his mind calmed after a few moments of the rambling and he smiled,

"Yes, Echo is pretty..." he said with a soft reassuring smile.

Perhaps it was best to change the subject, what had she been doing out here, looking for something? Logan seemed to always be looking for something, perhaps he had found something today...

"Are you looking for something out here Echo? Or just wandering?" he asked cooly, eyes watching her with a happy gleam in them.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 15, 2006 6:38 pm

Echo smiled rather silly-like but didn't really mind at that moment. She was just happy to hear that obviously Malik was alive and well if he had enough strength to tell someone about her. This more than anything was what excited her. Which was good for Logan because it meant that she was in a better mood and so not quite as jumpy or nervous.

When he went back to the topic of her being pretty however... she couldn't help but lower her head and look away. It felt really awkward for her to hear someone saying it to her. She had heard people call her mother pretty, but never her. It was simply out of the question for the female and she never really minded it. She was happy with her life as it was, no matter how make-shift. She was with her sister and they were looking out for one another, that was all that mattered.

"Echo is pretty.." she shook her head, glancing back up at him cautiously. Echo didn't think she was pretty. Not with all the scars and her torn up ear.

But she was simply happy when he changed the subject, moving away from his compliment to her and on to more... tolerable things for the wolfess. She nodded slightly. "Looking for some.." She wanted to say one, but her curse kept her silent after that. "Echo..." The wolf frowned, beginning to feel frustrated that she couldn't say what she wanted.

Finally tired of it, she merely shrugged. "Looking for something."

Feeling quite bad Logan's expression softened, perhaps Echo did not think the same of what he thought, her being pretty...perhaps the thought of it troubled her, or she thought otherwise. He got the idea of that when she shook her head and looked away.

Logan pondered over it for a mintue, perhaps Echo did not think she was pretty because of physical scarring, pity, he thought. Sometimes the most beautiful side of another wolf or creature is shown in their times of difficulty, scars accenting their beauty in an unknown odd way. He saw it though, he knew it, but he wouldn't say anything mroe or dwell on it if it made Echo uneasy.

Hemade a note though when she stated she was looking for something...or someone, she did begin to say some- ....but he didn't know what she wished to finish it with. He figured she was trying to get somewhere to find or meet someone. A friend perhaps?....a boyfriend....meh, his mind twitched at the thought...he did afterallfind her first before this other wolf...if indeed they were male and liking her that is...

"Do you need any help?" Logan asked excitedly and with a wag of his tail, perhaps he could assist her, and she'd find him funny or charming...yes...that would be nice.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 16, 2006 6:52 pm

It wasn't so much the fact that he had called her pretty... it was more the fact that no one else really had, and now he was? It was a strange thing, really; it was quite a new concept to her. She supposed it was the unnatural new-ness to it that scared her more than him actually telling her that she was pretty.

But, that didn't matter now anyways. He seemed to have caught on to her feelings well enough and now was avoiding that particular subject. It was really considerate of him. Echo wagged her tail in delight.

When he asked her if she needed help, the wolf tilted her head slightly. She knew where her sister was, but she had just been a bit sidetracted by Logan on her way there. Now there was no telling where Ophy was, being as Echo had promised to be back before sunset. The sun was setting quickly it seemed. Her twin would worry and probably go out looking for her. She wanted to howl... but that would be plain rude to the male.

Becoming quite indecisive, the she-wolf frowned. Instantly she changed her features, however, hoping that he wouldn't think it was him who had caused the expression.

"Help," she said at last, slowly nodding her head. Yes, perhaps he could help her and her sister. They needed all the help they could get.

Seeing Echo wag her tail Logan smiled softly, quite an odd gesture for a wolf of his stature and past, but this was nice, for once, he was seen perhaps as an equal, someone who could help, but also be friendly.

He watched as Echo seemed in thought for a moment, a frown for a split second, most likely of maybe unable to figure out what to do. But the expression quickly faded, and his eyes watched her as she did indeed ask for help, in her own special way, which he liked.

Logan wondered what or who she was looking for. Perhaps a den to stay in? A pack land to be welcomed in? Or perhaps simply looking for a friend or family member she had gotten separated from recently, and she was supposed to meet...all of them seemed logical at the moment. But only Echo would know for sure at that moment.

"Who or what are you looking for Echo? Home? Or a friend?" he noted not to speak too many words at once. From what Malik had said, Echo could only repeat what others stated, and Logan did not want to say too many words, so that Echo would forget any of them...he surely would, his memory wasn't as good as others. Simple phrases would do, and it was nice, simply being here, and talking with Echo.
