The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF Ragnarok

Welcome to the first ever ~official~ STSR. Now I’ve done these sort of before for Pay Per Views and stuff but now I’ve decided to make them more ~official~ and professional. I’m still deciding on whether or not I’m going to do them for Madness but I guess that will pretty much be time permitting. Anyway pretty much what you can expect from this is talk about matches from the given event, their ratings, and other things that are related to the BTWF that I may need to tell people. Also at the end of this on occasion will be like random facts or something about me or even someone else if they want me to put it. Anyway onto the ~official~ goodness of the first Steve Twist Smark Rant, this being about the latest PPV and an awesome one at that, Ragnarok!

Opening Match: Ravena vs. The Demon – A good match to get some crowd interest early on, this match wasn’t anything spectacular but did its job very well. This was a good back and forth match up that had that feel like it could end at any time and when it came down to it we had Demon coming out the victor with a vicious Hell Bomb that I’m sure is going to take Ravena out for a while. Personally I think something like that was unnecessary but to him his own.
Rating: **3/4

Loser Leaves Town Street Fight: Dizturbed vs. Worlock – Personally I thought this match lacked creativity and could have been way better if it A. Even had a point to it besides making someone leave for really no reason and B. If it would have been more then a “Wrestler A knocks Wrestler B over the head with a weapon” match. Not too bad though and once again it fit its purpose well and did exactly what it needed to. Whether or not the crowd cared about the garbage wrestling or not is really up to them.
Rating: **1/4

Tag Team Championship: Kanyon/Seraph vs. Frost/Twilight – Another good match on the card but this one was way too long for a tag match in my opinion. Some very obvious no selling and in a lot of the match there wasn’t even really any drama or anything thanks to the lack of falls, especially near the start. New tag team champs is of course a good thing but this match seemed like a ******** even though it was supposed to be a tag match and too much of a ******** at that. I think if this would have been shorter and used more tag elements this could have really been a good match but as of right now this match need a Tornado in his description because it would have made more sense that way.
Rating: ***

Double Tables Match: Rocky vs. Bryan Kutterman – Tables, tables, and PURE STEEL oh my. But seriously this one had everything it needed to be a great match and I think it fell just short. Some crazy a** backwards spots didn’t quite fit but were pretty cool and I still think the Elevated Pedigree through the table should have been the finisher because it doesn’t take a lot of energy to do, which neither man would have after a match like this, and it is a sick devastating move. This one still had some good twists and turns that made you want to keep watching though and it was the blow off to what has to be about the longest current feud going right now. It brought the violence that it needed but always seemed to have something about it that didn’t fit for some reason. The pieces were all there but the PURE STEEL objects just wouldn’t quite let them fit together and in the end this one will only go down as being the best match of their series that was one on one.
Rating: ***3/4

Small Fry Championship: Xunkai vs. Revision – This PPV had one great match after another and I guess this has to be the one after the last as it was, in my opinion, probably the best Small Fry Championship match yet. The match told a really good story about rookie and veteran, fighting for position and trying to make the other feel inferior. It also had some spectacular moves that you can only see in the SF Division here along with just having a great overall flow to the match that really left you wanting more. The ending was probably a big upset to people but I think they got their money’s worth from this one for sure and will happily watch Xunkai/Revision II when it happens.
Rating: ****

Triple Threat: Hell’s Guardian vs. Icy Ali vs. Fox – Unfortunately this is one of those matches that fell a bit short of my expectations. It could have and should have been but is left for another day to do so. I think the biggest problem in this one was that it was a Triple Threat when really Icy Ali vs. Hell’s Guardian would have worked just as well. Then again Fox was part of the whole DoS issue before either of them so you can’t really leave her out. While I’m not a big fan of matches ending with a brawl this one was well suited and the beating Ali gave Hell will most likely lead them to a one on one contest eventually while Fox can now get out of this whole issue altogether.
Rating: **1/2

Gaia Championship: Barbed Wire Ropes Match: Steve Twist vs. Raymond Kage – In what was probably the biggest shock of the night these two went out to the ring and made a violent, brutal, classic match up that is very viable as a MOTYC. The blood flow in this one made it so it wasn’t pretty but damn was it a well thought out and played match. There was always something different to look forward to and it wasn’t all just hitting each other with weapons. I would even go so far as to call it “Brutal Creativity”. The ending was also a very well done with people doubting whether or not Steve could put Kage away or if Kage could stop Steve. The Tigerbomb into the thumbtacks spot was also just plain hellacious. Overall this match came in as one that was only a bit anticipated but came out as one that everyone, over the age of fifteen or so, should see.
Rating: ****3/4

BTWF Championship: Garden of Evil Match: Big Daddy vs. Shady vs. Darson Grays vs. Riona Langly vs. Maxwell Conners vs. The Tiger – I give this the SPOTFEST and ******** awards of the night. This was just some crazy s**t that seriously made me sick of tables before the end of it. I still am having a hard time adjusting at meals…But this match was another great match that brought the daredevil stuff that hadn’t already happened earlier in the night. For some reason to me the timing seemed off though but other then that the sheer “Jumping off of high stuff” this match has just does it for me. I think some of the stuff could have been a bit toned down but when you have 6…well actually for a while 7 people in the brutal structure what else can you do. I think this match probably lived up to most peoples expectations, I wasn’t expecting so many spots and so many involving either a table or a ladder myself, but this was still a great way to end a great PPV. Not to mention it blows off a couple of feuds, continues some, and even creates some new ones.
Rating: ****1/4

Final Verdict: Thumbs up big time for the BTWF once again putting out another just awesome Pay Per View. Every time you think the BTWF has reached its peak the mountain just grows higher. I mean last PPV was the first one with 2 ****+ Matches and now when you think that Steve Twist can’t possibly make another classic like the Ladder match or the ME can’t live up to the amazing Ironman Match from fadetoblack or that the Small Fry Championship can’t go beyond ***3/4 all of that is broken with 3 ****+ matches at this PPV and some matches that look like MOTYC for sure. Just an awesome PPV and with Eternity coming up I’m sure that we’ll see another great PPV that will surpass even this, especially with some of the matches I’ve heard for it…

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for the countdown to BTWF Eternity

Back by popular demand comes the STSR and for the fact that things have kind of been just plain pissing me off the past few weeks here. The first thing I want to get out of the way before we go into the good stuff and the countdown to Eternity section is how people haven’t been able to post matches or get them done. Now I know people have lives and so on and blah blah but come the ******** on. Tuesday was Madness and nothing more has been posted since then and this is Thursday. If it was only one person I wouldn’t have a problem with it either and I know that one match has had some problems so I’m not going to yell at them but some other ones I’m not sure of and one especially upsets me. The GCDC one between Rocky/Heat still isn’t up despite us all knowing that Heat somehow won it since the Eternity card is up and that makes me mad. Not once did I ever have a Gaia Championship match in late when I was champion and now as soon as I am stripped of the title, before a new champion is even crowned, a match is missing. Now this is a warning to everyone in the Gaia Division right now, do not get me angry at you because me and Omega made that division and I’m not going to let people ******** it up.

But onto a little brighter news that doesn’t involve me berating quite everyone. The past few weeks of Madness…well haven’t been superb but there have been some high points and at least one really good match. So first a little review of Madness from September 9th. (* Ratings may come later but right now since the review crew isn’t on I’m not going to do them. Oh and yes that means that I’m not the only one who rates them for people who thought that.)

BTWF TV Title match – Can’t say this was anything special…or that I cared about it more then what is on at 5 a.m. in the morning. Choppy flow to the match and I don’t like Undertaker clones so I’m not even going to say anything else on this.

Tag Championship – Wow I didn’t know this even got posted but I’ll take a look at it here. Quick match, good action, nothing special but hey it was a rush job and it was obvious that it wasn’t all that it could have been. I don’t think anyone really took the whole Tag Titles on the line thing too seriously either when you look at who was in it.

Small Fry Championship – Another quick match that pretty much served its purpose as showing Xunkai as a strong SF Champion and that he isn’t one dimensional like many other SF guys. The whole Grey Fox history also worked well in this match and made it somewhat enjoyable while it lasted.

Brian Blade Segment – Someday we may see why Eternity is happening…maybe not but it might make a cool DVD extra…

GCDC 1 – Yeah I’m too lazy to put everyone who was in it and this sums it up well. I wasn’t a bit surprised Rocky won it and it wasn’t a very long match at all, following the trend of the rest of our matches for that night. Madness: Night of Mistakes was pretty wacky but this match did its job and didn’t lose any interest while it did it.

GCDC 2 – The Main Event that wasn’t even supposed to be a main event was a lot like the first GCDC match. Although I’m kind of upset that people seem to forget that Kage got the s**t kicked out of him at Ragnarok along with me this match was still good and set up a Rocky/Heat showdown for the Madness on September 14th which is up next in my review...

Overall: This show was plagued with short matches and stuff that was rushed so I think Madness: Night of Mistakes is a good name for it but I’d also go with Madness: Mediocrity lives on. Just a thought though.

So what do you follow up a disappointing week with? A week that still is disappointing in the number of matches but really leaves the fans going home happy after a great ME and the BTWF’s first warranted ME Promo that gives Eternity a new meaning and kicks off the build to the biggest match the BTWF has ever seen.

First Match – No show although if anyone cared I’d be shocked.

Second Match – No show, this match may be up sometime though as it is kind of needed for something to make sense here…(Oh and what happens is posted but not the match.)

Thir-A MATCH!? 6-man GCDC – I’m shocked that we got a match here but luckily not too shocked to say this was a pretty good match. I’m not really going to do a big review as I have a lot to cover and haven’t actually got to read the whole match but it looks like it was well booked and it also seems we have a participant who I don’t think a lot of people would’ve expected coming out on top.

Fourth No show, err “match” – Yeah, results are up but that doesn’t make the Ladder Match at Eternity really mean anything. Just kind of a “Well Steve Twist did it so why not”. But if you didn’t like me bitching you wouldn’t be reading this would you?

Demon vs. Frost – This match will be up someday so until then I will withdraw from saying anything about it since I know the problems behind this.

Small Fry Championship – Yeah this is one of the biggest reasons the fans went home happy. Awesome match that had everything and was also very clean up until the REF BUMP~! And all the people beating the hell out of each other. Really I liked this one and thought it was probably on the level with or better then their Ragnarok match. I’m sure everyone wants to know the whole deal behind Blade holding up the SF Title but you’ll see sooner then later…

The Countdown to Eternity – So the match is finally set the one that everyone has wanted to see since the day Big Daddy and Steve Twist proved they were almost unquestionably the two top wrestlers in the BTWF. Steve gets a new persona here while pretty much swerving the s**t out of people with the mystery man thing that kind of ended up being ******** due to this match being pushed further back then originally thought. Pretty much to sum this promo up Steve takes everything Big Daddy has been saying to people over the last two to three months and says he is better then that. I also saw that Big Daddy responded with the fact that everyone else has said they could do it and no one else did. Steve says that he isn’t in the same pack as the rest but Big Daddy comes back with that either way Steve still isn’t above Big Daddy. And yeah you could keep going on this but pretty much this is your classic feud that will no doubt lead to a classic match at Eternity.

Overall: Well if it weren’t for the few matches and the promo this night wouldn’t have had anything literally but it still ended up being pretty good even though it was probably the smallest Madness we’ve seen for a while. This won’t be remembered as one of the best Madness shows but really at least this one didn’t have a bunch of filler crap and had stuff that really mattered.

And now we have Madness this week that looks pretty good. I was going to do all my Pre-Eternity stuff this week but I think I’ll wait until next week to do that since this has been a packed rant already. I do want to say that Eternity is looking like a great card and hopefully it can surpass Ragnarok in awesomeness.

And now for my “Best of Steve Twist DVD” plug. Although I don’t know when it will be coming out yet I just wanted to tell people a bit about it and maybe inspire a few others to do something like it *cough*Blade*cough*. (Although I know he won’t have the time but that would be damn interesting.) Anyway what this is going to be is probably some stuff about the Steve Twist character, matches of course (from different feds as well as this), promos (like the matches), back stories behind stuff (exclusive content biatch), some restructured matches like Twist/Omega from BloodBath, and of course Extras (which I’m not even sure what they’ll be yet). Anyway I’m sure that all sounds good and dandy but like for all good things you’ll be waiting for it until I’m done with it although I will say November would be a good estimate. And of course if it goes well I’ll probably have another one in the future since being in my first year of e-fedding there is a lot of ground to cover yet for me.

So to end this rant I’ll give you a random fact about something random: The name of Steve’s new move The Unjust Sanctity was inspired by Brian Blade’s Revival of the Sayvior name wise. (The Unjust Sanctity is a Top Rope Reverse Gory Special Piledriver for those who didn’t know.)

The Pre-Eternity Steve Twist Smark Rant

Ok I’m not in a very good mood concerning stuff in the BTWF right now so first I’m going to go with one of my personal favorites n00b bashing. You see, NeoFighters is the home of many a n00b, many a n00b that don’t get s**t done. Because you see when you don’t get stuff done you don’t get matches, don’t get noticed, and just hold down this fed. The problem is though is that NeoFighters, which is TT run, is giving you matches yet for some reason you don’t seem to show up or care or whatever. Here is a newsflash for dummies right here: You aren’t going to just be carried and get a position at the top. Contact who you’re in a match with. Make sure one of you is writing it. Don’t have a match? Contact TT because he books them, duh. Can’t get a hold of TT? Then keep trying until you can. Can’t get a hold of your opponent? Write the damn thing yourself because even if you each write it and post it we can at least learn if you can write or not. Also don’t hesitate to do promos unless you absolutely don’t have anything to talk about and you can’t think of anything creative.

Now I don’t want this federation to be like a second job as I want everyone to have fun but you can’t always have your cake and eat it too. And if you do then maybe I’ll spit in it to show others that it just can’t be done. You see the thing is that most of you are just WWE marks and don’t know a whole lot about wrestling. It is just a cold hard fact that your borders don’t expand beyond that promotion which obviously doesn’t care about wrestling anymore. But instead of bashing that the point I’m trying to get to here is that if you want to make matches more interesting you should learn some more about wrestling and so on. That was kind of random but trust me, if you want a push you either have to be a good match writer and good at promos and very few people are good and or excel at both.

But enough with giving people who don’t seem to like advice advice. We have a bigger fish to fry here and it is being a real b***h right about now. And that is what to do about Madness matches that are late. Now nobody is going to say that you should put this over doing good in school or something like that but really people is it that hard to write a match, not even a really long one, and then post it on Tuesday night? Hell in the past I’ve said it and I’ll say it again right now: If you cannot be on to post your match Tuesday PM it to me because I’m almost always free Tuesdays. Now a few people also pointed out to me that they have been too busy, hurt, and have had other problems and that is something that is beyond your control so I’m not going to penalize you for it nor should anyone else. If you can’t write a match for some reason you should contact either me, Blade, BD, TT, or any other moderator for that matter so we can figure out what to do with it. I’ve wrote a few matches for people who weren’t able to and even though they weren’t great since I hadn’t planned on doing the match or know their style they were still done and that was the important thing.

So hopefully things will work out with that and like I said I will post whatever needs to be posted. Now if you don’t give a reason or if the match never gets done there is going to be problems. One thing in particular I saw was the TV Title match from this week. I mean are you that much of an a** to be a Champion and not even do your match? If you are then ******** you because the BTWF doesn’t need someone like you. Don’t like me saying that? ******** you again because you didn’t give a reason or tell anybody. Now if you still don’t like it then too bad, go grab a Kleenex, dry your tears, and go do something useful like getting hit in traffic. At least that way no one has to put up with you. Harsh as that sounds I’m getting very sick of things not showing up around here especially when there is no reason for it. I mean we’re heading towards what is being booked as our biggest show of the year and no one can take responsibility and step up. I’ve already advised Blade against putting a TV Title match on the card as well as a match just to include people because they either don’t deserve to be on the show or won’t write it anyway. Now I’m not talking about anyone and if there was a reason behind some matches then I’m at least a tad bit sorry but that is just how things are and just like life’s a b***h I can be a hard a**.

So now that I’m about burnt out on ANGER and stuff I’m going to try and look at some more positive aspects of the BTWF lately. The first being that Eternity is right around the corner here and looks to be pretty awesome. I can’t give all of my thoughts on it since I’d spoil a few unnamed matches right now but I’m sure everyone is looking forward to Twist/BD which promises to just be awesome. Even though Eternity was rushed to I still feel that this storyline is probably the best done one at the moment and I’m sure the match will no doubt be MOTY worthy since it is our two best in there going at it. I also know that people have been looking forward to this one so I’m going to do the best I can as I’m sure BD will also to make sure that it delivers. Another interesting match that I’m still unsure of is Heat/Kutterman in a Ladder match. I’m hoping this one will be good but I’m still a bit doubtful on whether a Ladder match was the best stipulation for this match. Guess I just have to stay positive that these two will make it awesome though.

And then we have a match that maybe wasn’t really as anticipated as others but it does have Brian Blade wrestling in it so I’m sure that will be entertaining to say the least. Finally the Conners/Blade feud will be settled at Eternity and finally the victor will be able to rest. (Hey I had to come up with something…) And of course we can’t forget the one other currently booked match I can talk about in TT/Demon. This is a feud that has been in the making before fadetoblack and I’m sure that everyone is going to be satisfied with the conclusion as these guys rip each other apart in the confines of a…do I dare say a 15 FOOT HIGH STEEL CAGE~! And of course I can’t spoil stuff so that leaves everything at that.

Ok so I think that wraps stuff up. Now I don’t think I really stated much for new ideas but I would like to hear from everyone who is writing their Eternity match (via pm or in Random Talk) just so I know that every match has a writer since I want this PPV to go off without a hitch. With that being said people can discuss this with me in “OOC: Random Talk”, over AIM (my SN is Stevebury24), or even over pm if you have to do. Also I’d like to still do that chat tonight depending so if you’d like to be included in that tell me and I’ll probably try to put it together about 8 o’clock EST.

And to end (since I don’t feel like doing an incomplete Madness review) I’ll once again throw out a random fact about something random: The 720 Legacy (720 DDT) Steve does was inspired by Jody Fleisch who does a 720 DDT. (Maybe next week I’ll do something that isn’t about a move but c’mon it is Jody Fleisch.)

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF Eternity

Hola and welcome to another edition of the Steve Twist Smark Rant. Normally I would go right into things but there is a special occasion type deal I need to address first. This of course is the return of one of the biggest names in the history of the BTWF, the "Man of a thousand holds", the "Crimson Dragon", Omega! But all announcing buisness aside I just want to say welcome back to one of my first and best friends in the "business" not only on my behalf but on the behalf of every single person on the BTWF roster. It is good to have you back man and I can't wait until we go one on one again in a BTWF ring because it will no doubt be another classic.

So anyway that is cool and all but onto the meat of this rant which is a review of BTWF Eternity that took place Tuesday. Now I'm not sure if this is the best PPV yet or not so it is time to see as we go through a card that was somewhat stacked albeit somewhat dissapointing as well.

Opening Match: Hell's Guardian vs. Jaice Wilds - A quick opening match that was really just to get the crowd fired up and to showcase a new "talent". Nothing special as it didn't go too long or didn't really do a whole lot for me but nothing too bad. Just kind of an average-below average match that was pretty much rightful for its spot on the card.
Rating: *

Tag Team Championship: Irvine Kanyon/Seraph vs. The Outcasts - Another short match that had some good solid action in it and was easily the best tag team match of the night. (Get it? ...well if you can't figure it out it was the ONLY tag team match sheesh.) Anyway this was a good match right here that didn't go too long but really didn't have much of a point to it altogether. Another match that is a good crowd starter but not like an awesome tag match you must see.
Rating: ***

Steel Cage Match: The Tiger vs. The Demon - One of the matches that surprised me and was probably one of my favorite matches of the night except for a few problems with it. This match was action packed and had lots of blood though it also had a lot of interference for a Cage match. My gripes with it would have to be the amount of moves in it for one since both guys would obviously be pretty damn tired after about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through that match and another is that I didn't like the Cage breaking although it would be somewhat logical. Technically however a cage is supposed to be built plenty sturdy enough to take a LOT of punishment. Those things aside though this was a very good match bordering on the edge of greatness and probably the 2nd best match of the night.
Rating: ***3/4

Small Fry Championship: Ultimate X Invitational: Xunkai vs. Icy Ali vs. Revision vs. Alex Auldron vs. Twilight vs. Tsunami - A short match but I think it did what it was supposed to do and that was give the fans some crazy action. This match was obviously rushed to give some of the bigger matches on the card more time but the SF Division once again puts out a solid match that is also an awesomely Spotacular one. Xunkai doing a CRAZY jump off of a 20 foot high scaffold definetly gave this one a little extra incentive to see it as well as an upset victory by Icy Ali.
Rating: ***1/2

The Rematch: Brian Blade vs. Maxwell Conners II - The best damn entrance the BTWF has seen with a good match to go along with it. I still believe that the first match between these two is a bit overrated to say the least but this one definetly is better and more entertaining as an actual match. Of course The Sayvior wins in the end but both men put on a good show and the roll-up victory came out of nowhere yet it was innovative and didn't suck like they do sometimes. Overall better then the first and more enjoyable for the fans as well.
Rating: ***1/2

Gaia Championship: Ladder Match: Bryan Kutterman vs. The Heat - Since this rating isn't only my own I'm going to take my gripes out with this match right now. It shouldn't have been a Ladder match since the main purpose of a Ladder match is to, oh I don't know, use the LADDER. I think that a No-DQ match would've been a much better stipulation for this match but it is too late for that now. Anyway we get the betrayal of Apolo (who would've guessed...) and a NEW Gaia Champion in Bryan Kutterman. Nothing special and definetly a mediocre match compared to the first Ladder match but it could've been worse I suppose.
Rating: ***1/4

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Steve Twist vs. Big Daddy - Probably the most anticipated match in BTWF history to date and this is what everyone was waiting for and hopefully expecting. A great match that probably went near 60 minutes (Estimated by Ironman comparison in amount not paragraphs) and was one to see for sure. Both men looked extremely good for the match and I think that it lived up to expectations. In the end it was the Savior who prevailed over the Reign of Terror and brought it to an end only to see a figure from his past, Omega, looking on. Overall it was everything I think you could want from a match but maybe I'm wrong either way I'd say it was good stuff.
Rating: ****3/4

Final Verdict: While the ME gives this PPV an edge on many I don't think this PPV as a whole was as good as Ragnarok. Not a bad PPV but while having a stacked card some things just seemed like filler in between bigger matches like Brian Blade vs. Maxwell Conners and Steve Twist vs. Big Daddy but all and all it was still a great PPV and I'll give a thumbs up for it easily as everything besides the opener was ***+.

View the Replay of BTWF Eternity HERE!

So yeah Eternity was pretty awesome but now the week after we have what could be one of our best weeks of Madness ever with Madness: Night of Champions II so in honor of this I'm going to do a quick preview right now and then a review next week so onward.

TV Championship: Ok this is a yawner right off the bat. The TV Championship has lost any credibility it once had as it hasn't been properly defended so who really cares about this match? I sure as hell don't.

SF Championship: Icy's first title defense against Mr. Money. A match that was probably made sometime between the hours of 3 and 4 am but I could be wrong. Don't get me wrong it could be good and I'm somewhat looking forward to it but it isn't going to be easy to impress me with this kind of match.

Tag Team Championships: I didn't even know who the Terror Kings were before today but I have faith in Seraph and Kanyon to bring the tag goodness in this match.

Gaia Championship: My poor belt crying . Never again will I create a division only to see it fall to this. You know this match doesn't even make sense come to think of it...

13 Person Gauntlet: Now this should be interesting. A bunch of people in a match and the winner will face me at MaXimum Carnage I mean how can't that be interesting especially when those people include BD, Riona Langly, Jack Frost, the list goes on. Not sure how good of a match this will be but it should set up a lot going into MaXimum Carnage.

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: So the time has finally come for Steve Twist vs. Xunkai, and it is not just a match but a match for the BTWF Championship. This should be a really good match with the longest reigning and 2 time Small Fry Champion going up against the longest reigning Gaia Champion and the NEW BTWF World Heavyweight Champion in it. The question is after losing to Big Daddy and losing his title in the UXI does Xunkai have it in him to beat Steve? But another question is after going roughly 50-60 minutes with Big Daddy can Steve last in another long match if Xunkai won't stay down. Guess we'll just have to find out in a clash of two of the most dominant champions in BTWF history.

Overall: The show looks solid but some of the lower card matches could falter. I do believe that both the Gauntlet and ME will be awesome though.

Yeah I said quick and I tried to make it that. Anyway I have something that may interest people and that is I would like anyone to make their own review of Eternity. (Since I'm thinking about upping our review crew to 5 people so we don't have so many ties.) Anyway we'll either do that or have like a guest reviewer each month who we'll select out of people who make good reviews. Hopefully people will do this but if they don't it isn't like I care.

So now a closing random fact of randomness for this week since I am tired: Steve usually has no respect fo authority but does have respect for Brian Blade because of his well known wrestling talents. However Steve denies any claim to doing so.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for Madness Night of Champions II

After a long tired night of "reviewing" I now have the latest STSR in tow to the amazement of everyone, and if they aren't amazed they should be because you dodn't just get a turn around STSR like this every Saturday. Just the Saturday's where I'm up all the previous night trying to get ratings at 3 in the morning. Anyway I'm not much on introductions this week as I have a busy week coming up, a BTWF match on Tuesday and a PCW/aWe PPV match on Collision Course this Sunday, combine that with some other random stuff and you get somewhat of a busy week to a busy week. But anyway...

Opening Match: TV Championship: Jaice Wilds vs. Sean Carbon - A match that wasn't really looked forward to at all thanks to the TV Championship's credibility being destroyed in the past month or so and because I think everyone knew Carbon was on his way out of the BTWF. This match was nothing special and I didn't really like it much but still nothing particularly bad. Actually I think what saved it was the angle after the match with Vorhees but anyway I don't really have much to say on this.
Rating: **

Tag Team Championship: Irvine Kanyon/Seraph vs. Terror Kings - An interesting and pretty good tag match with a more interesting angle after the match. Seriously I was going to use this joke later in the review but I think Madness Night of Angles would have been the perfect title for Madness this week. Anyway pretty good tag stuff here with a DQ ending that led to a beatdown, the CON taking the Tag Team titles, and Kanyon getting smeared across the parking lot. Ok not really smeared but hit by a moving vehicle that will probably put him out of action for a while here. I'm intrigued to see where this will go next...
Rating: ***1/4

Gaia Championship: Bryan Kutterman vs. dIzTuRbEd - This was pretty much a squash as, once again, we know that Dizturbed is taking some time off from the BTWF. The match wasn't bad though but what really gave it that "what the..." feeling to it was that one guy coming out in the ending a beating down Pohatu. Sorry about not knowing the name, all I know is it has Iron in it. Anyway nothing that blew me away but a pretty solid angle/match/getting Kutterman over combo.
Rating: **3/4

13 Person Gauntlet: Winner gets a BTWF Championship shot at MXC - The ******** of the night of sorts and has RUN-INS spray painted all over it. This was a really good guantlet that once again emphasizes how many angles were started on this Madness. Some of them aren't even so apparent as others but soon I'm sure a lot of things will become clear and many feuds will take off from this match. Although the rating is a bit higher then I would've given it along because I don't like to judge on all the angles the match sets up and I didn't like run-ins being about the only way to actually set anything up in this besides like double eliminations this was still a great match. Also the best gauntlet to date though that may not say a ton you still get the idea that this was really a step forward in the constant gauntlets that have come up in the BTWF.
Rating: ****

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Steve "Savior" Twist vs. Xunkai - The main event of the evening saw the two halves of SnX going at it for the BTWF Championship in what was easily the best Madness singles match ever and I would argue the best Madness match ever as well. It was really more of an old school Steve Twist match then the match based wrestler we've been used to now but that doesn't mean anything more then that it was packed with action. Nothing really seemed out of place either give or take a move or two and the pace was set perfectly thanks to the added no-count out stipulation. Everything just went great for the most part and the few surprises in the match really give it that extra push to put it over as a truly great match without really having a ton of hate anywhere in it.
Rating: ****

Final Verdict: An awesome Madness that might even be better then 8/10/04 Madness that had 5 ***+ matches on it that filled the card. It really depends on what you're looking for I suppose but either way this is still an awesome Madness that had 2 **** matches on it and a ***+ match as well. Really looking back this is much better then the original MNoC and I think that in the future MNoC III will be even better. I still have to warn you that if you don't like a lot of angles then you might not like a couple of the matches here but I don't think you can go wrong with the Gauntlet of DOOM~! and an awesome one on one contest between Twist and Xunkai that is well packed with action. So really all I can say is thumbs up here and check this great show out for yourself, free even.

And now I'm a bit worn out and I need to get some things done so pretty much this is my preview for next week's STSR in a nutshell. I may have ratings for Madness that week but I'm also looking to get some ratings on some of the better Madness matches from Black September so that they get the credit they deserve. Other then that I probably won't have much to say which is surprising but I'll be busy with aWe stuff so yeah. Anyway our random fact of randomness (is a plug) this week: Steve Twist will be in a title unification match on the PCW/aWe PPV against Ambiance on Sunday, September 17th, also in action from the BTWF are Big Daddy and Riona Langly so check out the show and wish your fellow BTWF wrestlers luck.

Steve Twist Smark Rant Lite

And now for the morning news of Saturday, December 04, 2004

HIAC Update:
Despite my obvious lack of being a HIAC mark this match is going very well and I’m proud to say it will kick some a** come the 10th. I’d judge it at about 75-80% done right now and am hoping that other matches for this PPV are at around that percentile as well. Other than that everything is going just fine for someone so busy right now.

Madness:
Really what is the deal with getting Madness done anyway? I mean everyone wants to have a title or be in the picture yet you can’t get a match done for the weekly show that most people are only put on maybe 2 out of 4 weeks between Pay Per Views. No one ever said that you had to have spectacular matches on Madness either, just get one done. If you don’t know who is writing it take it upon yourself to figure it out and write it if someone else isn’t. Maybe I’m being too picky but since I’m still getting matches written and can hardly be around right now I don’t think it should be this tough for others, especially when every time I’m on Gaia I see the same people always on and posting just useless stuff. Oh well at least I can look forward to the PPV which better not be delayed for reasons a few people already know about.

Other than Madness though I’m glad to see that BTWF members are still posting promos actively and I’m really hoping people will take to Darson’s new show especially since it was made to help people improve and also give guys who think they deserve a push to get one by winning legit (RP style) and showing that they have what it takes to make good matches happen. Of course knowing SOME people here they’ll still whine and b***h like crazy if they lose and think they are the end all be all so they should go start their own thing where they can book themselves to win because they are so great and everyone should be able to see that.

I’d also like to question how the new website has been going since I haven’t heard much from Alex. I know that it is going to take time but I’ve totally stopped any updates on the regular site because of lack of time and waiting for this one to take over. Luckily with a guild matches are easy enough to access that a site isn’t needed as badly now as back in the olden days of one huge thread. Guess I’m just impatient but I would like to see it up here shortly.

So is there anything else…hmm…PLUGS! Buy stuff from Ring of Honor and show your support in not just good but great wrestling. (Buy stuff from other independent promotions too while your at it, support the good stuff.) Read Megatokyo, Errant Story, and El Goonish Shive. Beg for lots of cool junk for Christmas (IF you celebrate it) like Kill Bill DVD’s you don’t have or some new CD’s from bands that don’t suck. Video games don’t influence people to kill people; people’s idiocy influences people to kill people. (So get lots of good VG’s especially Metroid Prime 2 if you’re a Cube owner.) And really, have a Happy, Merry, Joyful, and all that kind of stuff to whatever you celebrate. (See, I don’t have to impose my opinions on to others by saying things like Christmas and Hanukah.)

*Cuts off from news broadcast for a special announcement*

‘DO NOT WORRY The REAL STSR will be back sometime before the new year including ratings and rants about Mutual Annhilation and other good stuff.’

Until then have fun people and stay out of getting ran over or hit by people who don’t know how to drive.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for Mutual Annihilation

Alright it has been a long time in the making but it has finally come time for a brand new edition of the greatest editorial/review that has ever been seen in the BTWF. That of course being the STSR with your host, none other than now the Ex-BTWF Champion (which some people seem ecstatic about) Steve Twist. Also this will probably be the last STSR for the year of 2004 and I’ll probably do something a bit special with it if I have time since I’m not sure realistically how many people figured the BTWF would last this long and still be going pretty strong. But now onto the review of a PPV that was basically built around one match and actually surprised me by delivering a few other good matches along the way.

TV Championship: Casket Match: Makuta vs. Anthony Voorhees – Let me just start by saying that this match was much better than the TV Title match at MXC. Well maybe not leaps and bounds but overall I think it was put together better. I still have a tough time with how these matches have been written lately though because of how jumpy they seem but overall an entertaining match that wasn’t too bad or too good.
Rating: **

Capitol Punishment: Raymond Kage vs. Victor Bidwell – If you can define the word ‘match’ and have this be a part of it then I guess you could call this the biggest ******** of a match the entire night. The HARDKORE spots were cool and junk but it really got interesting when everything started to break down and the match took second stage to a bigger picture that is starting to shape up. Even though I don’t like matches that basically build up for other ones this was still a really good match and much better than their first match at MXC.
Rating: ***3/4

Small Fry Championship: Hell’s Guardian vs. Twilight – To be fair and honest all I can hope is that this match was rushed. It is amazingly short and doesn’t really help the already on its bedside ready to die SF Division. Not really horrible or anything its just this match could’ve been so much more had it went longer and had some actual meaning to it. (Besides having one SF Champion and Revision’s return…)
Rating: *1/4

Tag Team Championship: GoL vs. Renegade Soujahs – RESERVED for when this gets finished…

Gaia Championship Fatal Four Way: Rocky vs. Bryan Kutterman vs. Shadow vs. Heat – This match had not only had quite a bit of build-up going in but had a big expectation as well seen as how the first Gaia Championship FFW included yours truly and was a **** affair. Shockingly though this match manages to live up to everything expected from it and turned out to be a really good match. Maybe a bit too many moves and stuff for adequate selling for me but when you have a match that is so well done like this it doesn’t really affect it much. Basically, although I don’t care for the interference, this match stood on its own as a match and won’t need to be referred to as FFW II or something of that nature.
Rating: ****

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Hell in a Cell: Steve Twist vs. Omega IV – This was THE rematch everyone has been waiting for. Sure there are other rematches but this was a rematch in the BTWF voted 2004 Feud of the Year which had already brought a *** match at the BTWF’s first PPV where a *** match was great and two ****+ matches not to mention speculation and an awesome blood feud that made everything electric. Did the match live up to the insurmountable hype though? I can honestly say without a doubt it did. This was the debut of the HIAC in the BTWF and both men brought it in this match. Although from the start it was clear Steve Twist had the slight upper hand when it came to wrestling Omega had the upper hand when it came to exploiting injuries. Finally after brutal beat down where Steve tried to break Omega’s neck not once but twice and Omega tried to decimate Steve’s right leg so he couldn’t stand on it again there was a NEW BTWF World Heavyweight Champion and his name was Omega.
Rating: ****3/4

Final Verdict: After thinking this PPV would be a one match PPV I’m surprised and glad to say that this is one definitely worth checking out for more than the AWESOME Main Event. I’m sure some people might not agree with me on that but if you’re looking for a good brutal PPV this one might be better than MXC to pick up. I guess it depends on your tastes and of course there are a few matches that are basically just crap on here too so in overall quality MXC is much better. Overall though with two ****+ matches and one bordering on that this is still a really good PPV for the money and another strong showing for the BTWF to end the 2004 PPV Schedule.

Replay is currently only available on Gaia but it is also in the new Gaia HD so check that s**t out.

Now if you ask me that is pretty damn good especially as the BTWF isn’t even a year old yet and will get even better in 2005. Still no ***** match for everyone to remember in the company yet but most don’t usually have a true ***** match in their first year anyway. Still though a LOT of matches that are right up there and I don’t think anyone has the right to complain about how things have shaped up especially since these are PPV ratings alone and we have 12 ****+ matches. (Not to mention the fact that there were two more **** matches on MNoCII.)

So now without further ado I’m going to give my TOP TEN MATCHES of 2004 including every Madness and PPV in this list through when the BTWF started until now.

10. Steve Twist vs. Xunkai (Madness: Night of Champions) – This was no doubt probably my hardest pick since there are so many matches that could have been #10 instead of 11th or 12th. I feel that this is the right choice though because this match was the only **** one on one match that took place on Madness throughout 2004 and was really a good match in pace and a fun one to watch as these two were pretty much part of a losing tag team yet great singles alliance throughout the year.

9. Submission match Twist/Omega III – A match that didn’t live up to the great expectations left by the BTWF voted MOTY Ladder Match but still a really good match that doesn’t always get the respect deserved. At the time this was the only the second **** match in the history of the BTWF and although it doesn’t capture what a Submission match is supposed to be about it still continued the series between Omega and Twist and showed how they would do whatever to be the winner and the better man in the match.

8. Garden of Evil – This is a match whose spot could easily be debated for hours on end but this is where it has managed to place in MY list of the top ten matches. Really this was a great ******** and had a great concept behind it, not to mention it continued and concluded the Dar/BD rivalry for the time being. Of course the problem with this was it ended up making it centered largely around those two and just had the other competitors basically doing cool high spots. Still a really fun match though and deserving of its place in the elite matches of the BTWF.

TIE 6&7. Steve Twist vs. The Tiger & Texas Execution Death Match BD/Conners - As much as I like to be clear cut about my choices these next two matches I just couldn’t decide on which I liked better because of their vast differences. I mean on one hand you have a really good one on one match that turned into an awesome stiff-fest and on the other you have an amazing death match that really concluded the BD/Conners ongoing feud for good and had everything you could want. I gave both matches the same rating and still can’t decide so I’ll leave it to others to fill in which goes where.

5. Barbed Wire Match Steve Twist vs. Raymond Kage – An instant classic when it comes to brutal violent matches and really this is probably the most overlooked great match of 2004. The problem going into this match though was that not a lot of people particularly cared for a match between these two and about anyone who saw this figured Steve would win anyway. Still a really good match though and definitely one I’d suggest everyone check out if they’ve passed it up in the past.

4. Steve Twist vs. Big Daddy – The match that everyone wanted to see delivered by going about 50 minutes to a single fall. This is easily the best one on one match without a stipulation the BTWF has seen and it was all about the wrestling in this one. With a big time event atmosphere to the ME of the BTWF’s biggest show to date this match is without a doubt one of the best matches the BTWF has and may ever see when it comes to a singles match. Really I can’t say enough good things about this one and I’m sure Twist/BD II will even top this.

3. Ironman Darson Grays vs. Big Daddy – The longest match in the history of the BTWF gets this far up for more reasons than one. The shock value of this long of a match goes as the first reason but this was also a really good match and well executed. Although I believe that BD/Twist did a much better job of pacing this match was the first match to go so damn long and is still a classic even being an older match that many would think may have been repeated by now. Bravo to both men in this for making it such a memorable encounter.

2. Ladder Match Twist/Omega II – Yeah I know what you’re thinking right now. What the ******** am I thinking putting the BTWF voted MOTY in the #2 spot? Well I have my reasons but first I’d actually like to talk about this match. This was the single most revolutionary match in the history of Gaia wrestling feds and also an amazing match that sky rocketed two BTWF wrestlers’ careers. Now both have been the Gaia Champion and BTWF Champion so it adds even more to what this match has done. The thing is though that I believe that there has been one match better than this one…

1. Hell in a Cell Twist/Omega IV – Call me crazy, stupid, selfish or all of the above and I won’t care. This match was where it was at when it came to matches for 2004 and I’d gladly argue that point any day of the week. Of course you don’t have to agree with me but like HIAC matches or not this one was done astoundingly well. Throughout this match there were many little stories that built up to bigger stories and really just made this a great match. Sure the ANGER level doesn’t come into play right away but then again rarely do you see anyone start a match already steaming and ready to tear the other person apart. Personally I think this is the closest match the BTWF has had to a ***** match and that, while not perfect, it did everything right when it came to being a big time match and a rematch between rivals since the beginning of the company. Plus it leaves the door wide open for one final match to settle it all between these two. What? You thought that when the series was now 2 – 2 it would be over? Don’t count on it…

So there you have it whether you’d now like to tear my eyes out or couldn’t agree with me more that is the STSR Top 10 Matches of ’04, most following the ratings they received and others just being how they were for specific things they did right. All of those matches are of course ****+ matches since I really don’t see how putting a ***3/4 match up there would be fair when looking at the absolute elite matches of the BTWF. Either way though you can cherish or trash that as I move on in this probably way too long STSR.

Now instead of just ending this right now I do want to at least give some credit to matches that were so close to being on the list so here is an out of order list of those right now without re-rants so I don’t totally lose all my readers since this has been pretty long even for one of my rants.

Gaia Championship Fatal Four Way – fadetoblack
20-Man Gauntlet – MNoCII
Gaia Championship Fatal Four Way – Mutual Annihilation
Xunkai vs. Revision – Ragnarok

So there you have it and as a final word since I’m even running out of patience writing this I’d like to say happy holidays to everyone in the BTWF whether or not you celebrate any of the holidays and I hope to see the BTWF continue to go strong in what looks like a very promising 2005. So until next year this is the STSR and I’m Steve Twist signing off.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF/GEWE/EGW Absolute Zero and BTWF Civil War

The first STSR of 2005 coming in March seems a little odd but then again I haven't been around a ton before February. Also, before I begin I don't want people to get the wrong idea about that title with GEWE and EGW in it. I will NOT be doing rants on those matches because this is strictly for BTWF matches unless someone else wanted me to do others. With that being said I've missed one PPV and just haven't got around to doing CW so I think it is about time I begin and throw out some snowflakes.

Absolute Zero

Opening Match: Hardcore Brawl - This was a pretty crazy match with all three federations that were part of this show taking place in it. Really I can't even describe it very well just because of all the action and quick changes through competitors in it but I do have to say this was really well done and I would hate to have been the guy stuck with the job of writing this match.***

Voorhees/Hika Lai vs. The Faction - While I like the entrance to this match a lot of people know that I'm not a fan of Voorhees matches. It has nothing to do with workrate or anything either like I usually go on complaining about. Pretty much it is just that I can't get into them no matter how much I try and this one didn't change my mind at all. Plus all I ever need to do is look at the end where I see the big ONE TWO THREE REST IN PEACE~! crap and I can see who won the match. **1/2

Gaia Championship: Rocky vs. Revision - Now is where I start pouring out my love for AZ. A match between these two has always looked good and finally in one of Rocky's last matches in the BTWF we get it. A spectacular match that has a good pace through the whole thing, starting slow and building to a big ending. While I'm not sure if Rocky should have won here that doesn't take anything away from the match and I can see Revision getting that Gaia Championship eventually here with the great matches he has been putting on with guys. ****1/4

WARGAMES: Chaos Affinity vs. Darson Grays, Maxwell Conners, The Tiger, Victor Bidwell, and Hell's Guardian - Why wasn't this the ME again? Oh yeah the whole Triple Threat of Champions with the stupid ending that was "good for the BUSINESS~!" Enough about that because this match was AWESOME. The star of Darson Grays continues to rise with the win in this one although really the match itself was the highlight with the WARGAMES gimmick being used really well. This has to be a MOTYC because if it isn't then I don't know what is. The only complaints I had were the overuse of finishers and anti-climatic ending but that won't hold this match down very much at all. ****3/4

Triple Threat of Champions: Omega vs. Vick Wagner vs. The Unholy Meatpuppet - I guess Wagner teleports to the ring for his entrance but anyway here we are at the ME of AZ. The match itself was good and worked with the Triple Threat rules well. The part I have a problem with is the end which ends up having to suck for the sake of keeping everyone happy. That isn't the problem though. The problem is that after this both EGW and GEWE go down and GWA is formed. With this being said WHY couldn't Omega have been put over either guy? I guess probably because it wasn't known the other two would go but seriously for the lack of EGW participation in this PPV either Meatpuppet or Omega should have beat Wagner. ***1/2

Final Verdict: Although the PPV didn't have a whole lot to offer outside of WARGAMES and Rocky/Revision those two matches are good enough that you should go out of your way to check them out. Both could be MOTYC's and were both really great. Besides those though I don't see any reason to say check this out unless you like Triple Threats or the Hardcore Brawl. Thumbs in the middle but high recommendation to check out for the WARGAMES and Gaia Championship matches for Absolute Zero.

Civil War

Opening Match: Triple Threat: Anthony Vorhees vs. Makuta vs. Akira Tenshin - Was this match put on the card just to torture me or what? Seriously I can't think of a better way to make a mockery out of the final warrior thing than having it between these three. At the very least Voorhees won so we didn't get Tenshin as the final warrior for the blue team only to be eliminated when he trips and busts his head open on the entrance ramp. Cool entrance once again though. **1/2

Gaia Championship: The Heat vs. Revision - One more shot at the Gaia Championship for Revision and once again he has a good match but ends up failing. Now I don't know about the general consensus but I have to admit I like Heat as Gaia Champion just because I think he has the ability to help rebuild the division since it has been faltering since Kutterman won the title. (Also, that was not his fault like I've previously stated.) Anyway though the Heat formula seems to work for good matches although this one wasn't his usual match. ***1/2

BTWF Championship: Omega vs. Maxwell Conners - Since I'm going with praise to people I think Conners deserves a lot since he has really come a long way from that big fluke title win and losing it a month after. A much better wrestler than at that time he brings a good fight to Omega but we get Kage interference and Omega retaining. While I thought this match was good I felt it lacked something in the middle before Kage would end up coming out. Still good but for the first time since Ragnarok the BTWF Championship match is going to get a lower ranking than the Gaia Championship. ***1/4

Civil War: Blue vs. Grey - Four posts...DAAAAANNNNNNGGGGEEEERRRROOOOUUUUUSSSSSS!!!! I mean who the hell would write something that long? What kind of sadistic sons of...oh yeah I was part of that writing team. v.v Anyway this match was great with everything seeming to flow just right and a lot of cool moves being busted out. Not to mention it showcased a lot of BTWF talent while also having fun at the expense of some. Really I haven't found a problem with this match at all other than people could complain about the timing of some being eliminated. The strategy the teams used was fun and the final part between Darson and Riona was really good. With that being said this match brings a new meaning to the word great in the BTWF with this rating. *****

Final Verdict: Only four matches on this PPV but none of them were bad. The Triple Threat while not outstanding served its purpose and both the BTWF and Gaia Championship matches were good. But a ***** match is the real reason to see this as it is the first match in BTWF history to receive that rating and had to be damn good to do so although some matches have bordered on that rating before. Thumbs up and a high recommendation for BTWF Civil War just because the fact you aren't going to find another BTWF PPV with a ***** match and possibly not even one this solid.

While this has been slightly short I wanted to get this STSR up so I could have just one to focus on LoS which from what I've seen so far looks like it is going to be an awesome overall show. I'd hand out ratings to those matches which are up but I can't do that without the crew and what would the point be of having a whole rant for them? Anyway check these two Pay Per Views out and what is up of that one and I'll try to get another STSR up for LoS ASAP.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF Payback

I know what you're thinking when you gaze upon that title and it is probably along the lines of "...the f**k" to "where's LoS damn it!?" Well the problem is that I still haven't been able to get a good version of the LoS tape and seen as how we're coming right off of Payback I think I can recall in my memory about it (or just order the PPV, free of charge of course). Enough idle chitchat and conversation with seemingly no one however, and on to the matches!

Opening Match: Eclipse vs. Yuri Yurievich

Now this was a great way to start off what wasn't the most fantastic looking BTWF PPV ever. The thing is how does everyone always remember Eclipse was a TV Champion? I'm just curious since the guy didn't even beat anyone for the belt, defended it once, and then lost it to our current (p***k) champion (the 'Wrestling Asshat') Austin Azure. I can't take away anymore from this match though because it was a very solid match and the best damn PPV opener we've seen so far in the BTWF. My only gripe about the match was it seemed a tad bit too long for an opening match (and one that wasn't going to be highly remembered), but either way a great effort here that started the night off just right.
Rating: ***1/2

Bringers of Death vs. Generation of Legends

I'm certain that people know this was a match I was a little under whelmed about, but to my surprise this one was pretty good. Of course the match portion didn't last too long, but afterwards all the fun HARDKORE stuff came into play. (Which isn't a big deal to me, but I'm certain many people liked it.) Also the early demise of the BoD happened and people got hurt (or at least somewhat hurt). Overall it wasn't a fantastic match, but it still had its purposes and didn't slow the warming up night down one bit.
Rating: **3/4

Bryan Kutterman vs. The Tiger

This match amazes me by virtue that it was done and ON TIME even. The actual match is a fun one that pretty much seems to be running on spots and finishers alone, but somehow that manages to work this time around. I suppose it is probably because both are coming up, or have been in the higher ranks of the BTWF so wrestling is not as needed for them. (For the record I joke and will kill anyone who thinks they can get away with bullshit like not making wrestling matches wrestling matches.) With that out of the way I would say this only adds another portion to what is shaping up to be a hell of a PPV thus far.

Tag Team Championship: Renegade Souljahz (c) vs. H.A.L.O.

So the first title defense for RS comes around and it is against two guys who have been in the tag division for a long time now. This match had some tag tactics, shady tactics, and some ChEaT 2 WiN s**t up in here. The problem is that even with all this it isn't a shining example of a tag team match, but I will give it credit that I took more notice of this then some of the GoL defenses. Either way I see RS improving with each match and eventually maybe even putting the Tag Team Championships back in a light of importance.
Rating: ***

Stephen Ford vs. Maxwell Conners

The stipulation on this match is the winner gets shot...oh wait that says "title shot" my bad. Either way you could just see the HEEL in Conners come out during an otherwise unspectacular match. Not to say that I was expecting anymore from a match that would lead to one person or the other getting a title shot later in the night, but either way it wasn't the epitome of awesome or anything. Another surprisingly solid bout however, which seems to be the motto of Payback. SOLID SUCKA~!
Rating: **3/4

Steve Twist/Riona Langly vs. Empty Promises

Finally, after all the build and hype we managed to get Twist, Riona, Azure, and Xunkai all in the ring for one match to settle things (or to further things...) and I can honestly say that this was the BEST tag team match in the history of the BTWF bar none. (And no WARGAMES is NOT a tag team match.) While it may have had more of a traditional tag team formula it did what a match like this should do and that is build HEAT for a hot tag which happened between Riona and Twist in an odd, yet cool way. Not to mention some of the wrestling and counter-wrestling was off da hook for lack of a better (or more overused) term. Seriously, even with moves lacking in the double team compartment this tag match had pretty much everything you could hope for in one as well as an ending that will without a doubt in my mind lead to some confrontation between Riona and Azure down the line.
Rating: ****1/2

Gaia Championship: Three Way Dance: The Heat (c) vs. Revision vs. Shadow Starr

Will this be the end of this whole feud yet? WILL IT? Only time will tell, but this was an interesting match going in. Each PPV this year so far has had a Triple Threat Match, the first was the Triple Threat of Champions at AZ which got ***1/2, then at CW the opener which got **1/2, and the LoS ME which got...well it hasn't been revealed yet. Anyway this match is a little different with the 3WD rules and it shows that along with being another very good outing in a seemingly revived Gaia Division. The one problem I had with this one as by the end it seemed to be dragging and while that is kind of expected with it being two posts usually a match shouldn't have that feel. Either way another great match for this now seemingly awesome PPV.
Rating: ****

BTWF Championship: Darson Grays (c) vs. Maxwell Conners

Darson Grays: "I AM A HUGE SAMOAN WHO WILL CRUSH YOUR SKULL!" Maxwell Conners: "I beat that one guy...yeah him and now I'm going to take MY title that I held once upon a time back from you Darson!" Damn that is some heated s**t right there, but yeah this wasn't the most anticipated BTWF Championship match ever. What it was, was a fun match that started Darson's title reign of strong...well except for the non-finish thanks to the ******** which will set up a big match at the next event. Now with that out of the way I can honestly say this one lived up to any expectations placed on it and was possibly better so there you go.
Rating: ****

Final Verdict

Every month it always seems like the BTWF out does itself. Well that isn't true, but this time I would say that not only has this PPV outdone LoS on being consistently awesome, but also has outdone the former best PPV in BTWF history Ragnarok. One early MOTYC in Twist/Riona vs. EP and a ton of awesome matches including the 3WD and Darson vs. Conners that give this PPV at total of 3 ****+ matches and 3 ***+ matches with the only two matches under *** being BARELY under *** at **3/4. A great effort by everyone that I hope carries into BloodBath '05 because this PPV was the real f'n deal. Thumbs up and a very high recommendation for BTWF Payback.

Now to find a good LoS tape...(get your matches done!) and then we can really start talking about some awesome matches. Anyway I'm sure the next few months are going to end up being really great for the BTWF and that we'll carry into the summer looking strong. (Meaning free time a plenty on the young ones hands.) Until then however, this is the STSR and I am that one guy signing off right about...wait for it...wait for it...now.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF Legacy of Supremacy

This one has been a long time coming now and I've officially given up on waiting for the final match to be posted so I think now is as good of time as ever to get this out of the way. For the one year anniversary of the BTWF the last newly named PPV (for a while) was constructed to be a big show on the level with the other biggest BTWF show of the year, Eternity. Did this PPV live up to what it was supposed to be though? Well without giving much away yet, I would say it did and is definitely one any Gaian e-fed wrestler (or fan) should check out.

Opening Match: Four Corner Survival: Twilight Tokyo Rose vs. Darkfyre vs. Bryan Kutterman vs. The Reaper

This was an interesting way to start this PPV since really the match seems very thrown together. (Maybe because it probably was...) Even so it ended up turning out well as a spotfest and was different than the other two Fatal Four Way matches which were both for the Gaia Championship. Nothing too special or new, but then again expecting something great out of a PPV opener in the BTWF is pushing it...a lot.
Rating: *** (Unverified)

Buried Alive Match: Anthony Voorhees vs. Makuta

Hmm...this match is a tough one for me to review. The reason for this is that even though both guys obviously put a lot of work into this match, to me it comes off a bit awkward. Alright maybe really awkward because while it has workrate the match just has too much in it and ends up coming out a mess because of it. Just too many spots and things that don't get the reaction they deserve because of needing to no sell them to do other spots in the match. Not to mention I really didn't like the part where Voorhees was buried and then ended up digging himself back up out of the ground. Other than that I'm just going to say good effort, but maybe too much effort.
Rating: **1/4

Street Fight: Maxwell Conners vs. Raymond Kage

Onto the WWE style Street Fight between Conners and Kage which was a good and interesting match. Don't get me wrong when I say WWE style, I don't mean that in a bad way, that is just the style it is. Some pretty good stuff here to end the feud between these two that never really seemed to get rolling too well. The one thing I like about this match above all else is how the spots aren't overdone. While it may not have spots like the opener or the Buried Alive match the spots this match does have fit well in it and never go out of the way to be done without the matches best interest in mind.
Rating: ***1/4

Brian Blade's Match

Not finished if that wasn't obvious enough from the incomplete title.
Rating: Halo 3 in 2005

Cage Match: The Tiger vs. Shady

This feud has been going for...well a really long damn time. If you don't know the history between these two than you probably don't care so I'm not going to explain it, but I will say these two former tag partners had a pretty good match together. TT was obviously the favorite here in his home, the Cage match, but as for the match itself I found it a bit on the mediocre side compared to say the Cage match with Demon at Eternity. Not a bad match, but not really all that great either. And of course the feud wouldn't be complete without a totally questionable spot and TT winning to keep his record in Cage matches that of being undefeated.
Rating: ***

Revision vs. Riona Langly

Self-Inflicted Drama. If you don't have a clue where that came from then you will not get s**t that happens in this match, but that doesn't mean you still can't like it. Awesome light heavyweight technical wrestling or whatever you want to call it and a s**t load of workrate in this one. Seriously I liked this one a lot, but the ridiculous amount of spots and SiD stuff in this match does make me question how high this rating came out. Not bad by any means, but it seems like this one ended up being a bit overrated since if this same match was done without all the past references and spots between two different wrestlers the rating would probably be somewhat lower thanks to the no selling and trying to fit a lot into a single match.
Rating: ****1/4

Tag Team Championship: Full Metal Mayhem: GoL vs. RS vs. H.A.L.O. vs. EP

SPOTFEST WARNING~! Now if you thought some of these other matches were high on spots this match was sooooooo full of them it wasn't even funny. The one thing this match had going for it though was having 8 people in the match it made it so these spots could be done without the hassle of detracting from the match because they were basically what the match was. Not the greatest spotfest ever, but definitely fun and painful along with a few more innovative things. The smashing of Eliminator was pure awesome in my opinion and people went through tables...a LOT of tables, which according to how much everyone likes GoE I should have pleased people. The worst part of this match was probably the fact RS won simply because I don't think they were ready for the tag belts.
Rating: ****

Gaia Championship: The Heat vs. Shadow

Honestly...I was disappointed with this match. Heat has been doing a lot of good PPV matches over the past half a year or so and I was looking forward to seeing what was probably going to be the end of this feud. Instead we were treated to a good, but unspectacular Gaia Championship between these two that I don't think really lived up to the expectations people had for it. It's not like this was a bad match or anything, but I felt it could have been so much more than it ended up being which was a decent Gaia Championship defense between two individuals who used to be partners and don't like each other now.
Rating: ***1/4

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Triple Threat: Darson Grays vs. Steve Twist vs. Omega

The following contest is a damn long match where one individual would FINALLY get the title he had been hoping so long for. Now I throw out the words good and awesome, and diggity (okay maybe not that last one) at a lot of matches, but this was a truly GREAT match. The reason for this isn't, like some people seem to believe, because it is a long match. Sure having some length to it makes it feel more epic like a match between these three should be, but just because it is long doesn't mean it is automatically good. What made this good was the story that the match told and the fact that pretty much every move mattered in the end where a lot of big matches between people who are "stars" can turn into big movefests where the wrestlers will just hit whatever on each other and it will still be praised as a good match. That isn't the case with this match and through all the nearfalls, big moves, great psychology, and determination one thing prevails to give this match an extra good feeling to it and that is Darson Grays finally winning the BTWF Championship providing a happy ending for the Barton crowd to go home with after one hell of a PPV.
Rating: *****

Final Verdict

Is this the greatest PPV in BTWF history like it was meant to be? No, just like Eternity this doesn't compare to either Ragnaork (or the two PPVs that follow this one). Does that mean this is a bad PPV? Hell no. You can't call a PPV with one *****, two ****+, and four ***+ matches a bad PPV. It was an awesome PPV and even the "worst" match still had a damn good effort from the guys in it. If you like spots, gimmick matches, or wrestling you're going to find something you like on this PPV. Thumbs up and a high recommendation for BTWF Legacy of Supremacy.

Not much else to say other than what I have, oh and that the STSR will return with BloodBath '05 probably over this weekend so I can get it out of the way before ToG II. Which reminds me to say get your ToG II matches done so that can be another great PPV. Until I get the next one of these done this is the STSR and I'm signing off...now.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF BloodBath '05

So this took a little longer than I thought it would. Oh well good things are worth waiting for, right? Or was that good things are hard to wait for because they don't really come very fast and then you get annoyed waiting for them and so on and so forth? Anyway I have it on good authority that this PPV kicks large amounts of a** so we shall see as we dive into yet another half-assed edition of the corporate sponsored STSR. (And as a warning I'm no selling any "you sold out" chants.)

Opening Match: Demon's $20,000 Challenge

BAH GAWD...an opener that isn't finished. Not the first time that happened. Oh and I love how Darson can even no sell guys in promos like how he did Ford in the promo before this.
Rating: Oxford University sayeth get this s**t done.

Victor Bidwell vs. Frankie Money

Another missing match and now I'm officially pissed~! Okay not really, but who books this s**t? Oh boy I hope he doesn't read this...corporate sponsors wanted me to say that not me I swear! They also want to know where these two went and how much a slushie costs at the dollar slushie place.
Rating: Smoothies > Slushies (And you know this...MAN)

6-Man Tag: The Heat/Darkfyre/Yuri vs. Generation of Legends

I'm pleasantly surprised for here is the first match of the night that is actually done. This was a pretty good tag team contest which, while a bit messy, seemed to work well and helped to set the tone of the night early on. Then again it would amaze to me no end if a GoL match didn't have some kind of weapon use or blatant cheating in it somewhere. In all seriousness however this delivered not only the match I had been waiting for since the opener, but also gave some more interest to the story between these two teams although it seems that has kind of come to an end now. I didn't really see that coming after this match, but with departures and such there isn't much you can do.
Rating: ***1/4

Tag Team Championship: Dog Collar Match: H.A.L.O. and Ravena vs. Renegade Souljahz (c)

You know I really liked that segment that was before this one. That s**t was awesome and I'm glad to have Killa in the BTWF. As for this uncompleted match...well I can't say that I was looking forward to who was in the match, but the stipulation would have rocked. Another disappointment that leaves me wondering about the rest of the night.
Rating: Killa 4 LYFE ;p

Taped Fist Match: Steve Twist vs. Xunkai

Now here is a less than interesting stipulation for a match. Well I'm kidding slightly there because I like Taped Fist matches and think they are pretty cool, but using one here was questionable especially since writing out a Taped Fist match and reading one isn't really as cool as watching one. Somehow though I find myself surprised once more to find this match kicked all kinds of a** and was a bloody mess which was cool. Put the emphasis back on BloodBath '05 instead of the hidden title: Night of the Missing Matches. Anyway good stuff throughout this one without really using weapons although the Cross-Legged Brainbuster on the chair is questionable. Not to mention the ending was a bit unexpected and leads on to the re-rematch at ToG II where everything should hopefully be settled once and for all.
Rating: ****1/4

Riona Langly vs. Austin Azure

Let it be known to the world that I...well I'm not going to say love because that sounds weird, but really like this match. The only thing is I have a feeling it was probably really overlooked because of the bloodier matches of the night such as GoE II which EVERYONE loves. (If you don't you better because you ain't making me a liar biatch.) Anyway I thought the psychology and mat work in this match were awesome along with the counters and...well pretty much every ******** thing clicked in this match. In my opinion this is the MOTY for the BTWF thus far even with Austin's little ego trip entrance. Oh and I also thought Austin kicking out of the Bomb Dropper ReMix was cool because honestly I didn't expect it since I don't remember the last time someone has kicked out of a Riona finisher before this match.
Rating: ****3/4

Gaia Championship: Revision (c) vs. Twilight Tokyo Rose

Could it be...do I sense...a SPOTFEST~! OOOOOOHHHHHH YYYYYEEEEEAAAAAHHHH (Savage Style) This one took me back to the days of old, the days where the BTWF had a SF division, and put on the best match of its kind since Xunkai vs. Revision at Ragnarok. Awesome HEAD DROP goodness in this match with both wrestlers looking very good and Revision showing that he may be the best wrestler outside of the ME scene in the BTWF today. Not to mention he is easily the best Gaia Champion since myself and possibly even better than I am, and I'm not trying to offend others that have held the belt since then because we've had some really good Gaia Champions.
Rating: ****

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Garden of Evil II: Darson Grays (c) vs. Anthony Voorhees vs. Bryan Kutterman vs. Stephen Ford vs. Maxwell Conners vs. The Tiger

Ladies and gentlemen, straight from the Barton Arena, the BTWF would like to present you with one BIG gimmick matched filled with entertainment, so let's get ready for a HARDKORE SPPPPOOOOOTTTTTFFFFFEEEESSSSSSSTTTTT!!!!!! Which is pretty much what this match was. It did have good building up of characters including Voorhees and Kutterman, as well as a bit of wrestling and other things, but this was a big time spot-o-palooza no matter which angle you look at it from. Oh and an entrance-fest. And I thought Azure's damn entrance was too long, the ones in this match were just uncalled for. Still I have to admit this one was thoroughly entertaining and one of the best matches of this new BTWF year. Like I said before I prefer the awesome wrestling that was Azure/Riona, but I like this match a ton too.
Rating: ****3/4

Final Verdict

At the end of all this I'm not disappointed, but I am upset with the missing matches which are really keeping this PPV from being the best BTWF PPV. I mean Payback was awesome, but this had FOUR ****+ matches and two that are for sure MOTYCs. You really can't go wrong with that and I'm betting that if the rest of the stuff on this card ever gets done than this could easily be the best BTWF PPV ever, or at least until the next kick a** PPV which I'm really expecting to be ToG II. Oh yeah and so far nothing on this card is below ***1/4 so that is pretty damn good if you ask me so come on people and get your s**t done. Thumbs up and a really high recommendation for BTWF BloodBath '05.

I'm...I'm done? YES! Wait...with ToG II tomorrow that means I'll need to get more ratings and do this all over again. DAMN IT! Ah well, at least I'm looking forward to a PPV that should be pure awesome tomorrow so if people don't have their matches done they should get them done and hopefully that PPV can be even better (and way more complete) than this one. So until next time, where I will so be getting MOTN just you watch, I'm signing off and wishing you all a happy ToG II day which I have declared tomorrow thanks to my corporate sponsors.

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF Tournament of Gods II

Hello and welcome to another edition of the STSR. I'm your host "The White Phoenix" Steve "Savior" Twist and tonight we have no special guests or surprise segments. We might if I hadn't been cranking these things out one after the other to get them done, but that just isn't happening right now. Instead we have yet another BTWF PPV for me to give thoughts and the ratings of the Review Krew, er...Review Crew(TM) to so I guess I should stop boring you to death with talking and go straight to the opening match of the night which is the first match of the official Tournament of Gods.

Opening Match: ToG Quarterfinal: Killa K vs. The Demon

Looks like we're off to a quick, and rather large, start to this PPV. This is the PPV debut of Killa K and I doubt many people figured Demon had very good chances in this match, but it was still some relatively good back and forth stuff. Not to mention one is a HOSS while one is bordering on HOSS, but even so this kept a pretty good pace and was basically just a good solid match to start the night off, although it may have been slightly overdramatic for a first round match.
Rating: ***

ToG Quarterfinal: Jack Frost vs. Maxwell Conners

While some may criticize Conners for his lack of creativity as a heel there is no denying that he knows how to play the role well and he shows it here. The match was solid and had just what you expected in it with Frost dominating and Conners using every low and dirty tactic in the book to try and go over. Pretty much my only complaint with this match is that just like the previous one it was a bit too overdramatic for a first round match in a tournament even though both men could have easily moved on.
Rating: ***

Tag Team Championship

Since this match is MIA I would like to take this time to thank my sponsors and also the people who complain that I do this because it is you who I love to annoy the most. Also, I might as well say that ratings inflation is on the rise and a 6th * may soon be added to the ratings scale to balance it all out. (Not really...okay maybe really.)
Rating: Currently sharing a relation with the TV Championship.

ToG Quaterfinal: Kid Chaos vs. Yuri Yurievich

SQUASH~! That sums this match up pretty well since all it is for the most part is Yuri getting the s**t kicked out of him by KC and losing a lot of blood in the process. Still it isn't like it would take a really slow reader more than five minutes to read this, so it is out of the way pretty quick and does something for both guys. (What that is, I'm really not sure of.)
Rating: **

ToG Quaterfinal: Austin Azure vs. Stephen Ford

Not sure what to call this one. Probably a technical SQUASH if anything. It was pretty much Azure controlling the tempo of the match and Ford hitting his spots which is pretty much what most Ford matches as of late have been about. Not necessarily bad as it was well done and put Austin over, but it could have done without the tazer at the end there which didn't really add anything to the match and kind of had me wondering why it happened seen as how the finish was building up to the Destiny anyway.
Rating: ***

Gaia Championship: Revision(c) vs. Red Comet

Wow Gaia Championship match early on, although it was pretty much an old school SF Championship match anyway. While it may have been lower on the card than most Gaia Championship matches it was still a good one and the PPV debut of yet another CTC star (Obviously Red Comet unless you just magically stumbled upon this.) This match was fast paced with a lot of counter wrestling and had a few stolen spots from AJ Styles. In the end you definitely got your money's worth with this spotfest and maybe even more than you would have expected considering I doubt many people expected this feud all of the sudden.
Rating: ****

ToG Semifinal: Killa K vs. Jack Frost

Another clash of big men, except this time Killa is far outweighed by Frost which is different than being outweighed by about 40 or so pounds by Demon. Still Killa pulls through in another pretty well paced battle of big men that was good, but not great. The drama in this one was also much more needed and acceptable than the drama put into the Quarterfinal match considering the winner of this goes onto the Finals.
Rating: ***

ToG Semifinal: Austin Azure vs. Kid Chaos

ARM WORK~! And that is pretty much the whole deal with this match. Well not the whole deal, but if you couldn't figure out by the end that Azure was working on the arms of KC, then I'm not even going to go into what kinds of mental issues you have. This match also seemed to be a slightly extended squash with Azure once again controlling the whole thing, but at least KC did put up a fight even though I wasn't a bit surprised that Azure would end up going over and ending up on the opposite side of the ring from Killa in the ToG Finals. Oh and I think this rating is a bit high, but whatever.
Rating: ***1/2

Barbed Wire Ropes Match II: Steve Twist vs. Xunkai

As if this match wasn't built up enough we get a video package showing the history between these two as the ropes on the ring are getting set up. Of course for those totally in the dark and unable to figure out what the gimmick in this match is the ropes are going to be made of barbed wire. Shocking I know, but so is the fact you couldn't read the title. Onto the match however, and I must say THIS is the kind of Hardcore wrestling I enjoy. It has not only INTENSITY, but it has REAL, BUILT-UP HATE. Not to mention that this match keeps a great flow throughout it and doesn't concentrate on just building up the next spot. Creative, brutal, and one hell of a feud ender, this is your new STSR BTWF MOTY.
Rating: *****

ToG Final: Killa K vs. Austin Azure

Now if this hasn't been a great card so far, then I don't know what is. We go into the FINAL match of the ToG and already have a ***** match on the card, but luckily enough the two next matches follow up in keeping this card outstanding in their own right. This final had a lot of hate that was building up as well, but I think that in the end it focused more on wrestling than anything which was good. Over the last couple PPVs it seems as though Austin Azure has been your go to guy for great wrestling matches, and he and Killa don't disappoint at all here with a really good wrestling match even with the HUGE difference in size between these two. Awesome nearfalls and psychology helped this to be one of the better matches of the night.
Rating: ****1/2

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Darson Grays(c) vs. Bryan Kutterman

How do we like it!? We like it STIFF b***h! If you like to see two guys kicking the s**t out of each other without weapons than this match is the one you'll want to see out of this entire PPV. Lots of no selling obviously thanks to doing this, but unlike the usual Darson Grays no selling this was well done because it was all about the TOUGHNESS of these two. It wasn't about acting superior and squashing the other guy, but rather showing the other guy that you are a tough ******** and you aren't going to take their s**t. In the end I still never figured Darson would drop the belt to Kutterman, but I really liked this match and it was another great match at this PPV to solidify ToG II as a possible PPVOTY.
Rating: ****1/2

Final Verdict

I had high expectations going into this PPV, and I mean really high expectations, but even with those I was still really impressed by this show in the end. If you are an actual wrestling fan than there has to be at least one thing you'll like on this show and if there isn't, then in my opinion you aren't a wrestling fan. Great action from bottom to top and back again on this card with the first ***** match of the new BTWF year, and since LoS, as well as three other ****+ matches which are all low-end MOTYCs right now. Not to mention that nothing on this card is below ** and even the ** match served it's purpose and is so short it doesn't really disrupt the momentum of this PPV anyway. Thumbs up and an almost unimaginably high recommendation for BTWF Tournament of Gods II.

Just like each day another edition of the STSR has come and gone, and once again the BTWF has put out another kick a** PPV which really makes me wonder if they're ever going to fall into a PPV slump again. I'm not just saying that because I'm a BTWF member or anything either because seriously these PPVs each month just seem to be getting better and better and while they can't all be this good, I do strongly believe it is going to be a while before we get a real DUD of a BTWF PPV again. Anyway until Madness: Night of Champions IV I am signing off while wishing good luck to the feds having PPVs over this weekend (Mainly because I want to see some more good Gaian wrestling).

The Steve Twist Smark Rant for BTWF Madness: Night of Champions IV

Going against all demands which are popular comes another edition of the one and only STSR. Obviously this one is a bit different than usual as I will be doing it for M:NoC IV, but that doesn't mean I'll be any less of an a*****e than usual. That being said sit back, relax, don't read this if you don't want to, and enjoy as we take a look back at what was billed to be the best Madness in BTWF history (sans Kutterman acting like Puppet and quitting. xp )

Opening Match?: Tsunami vs. Red Comet vs. Twilight Tokyo Rose vs. Irvine Kanyon

Since I'm really not sure where the matches start I guess I'll just go with the first one up which would be this. Of course going into this match I knew full well that it was thrown together, but the match itself didn't change my opinion on that whatsoever. Sure the writing was good, but the content was pretty mediocre and it didn't really have anything that made me care about the match at all. Not to mention it seemed like an SDvR match with everyone using the same moves over and over, minus the person taunting on the outside.
Rating: **

Strap Match: Stephen Ford vs. Maxwell Conners

This match was better than it had any right to be and that isn't a shot at Ford and Conners, but instead a shot at the stipulation in this match. Not to mention it was in front of the Aekea crowd (which was underutilized and used wrong at times) where a stip like this would probably be s**t on. Nonetheless Conners and Ford had one hell of a match here that easily beat out their other two matches and made you genuinely care about what was going on. I'm still getting a bit bored of the SKF/LOW BLOW duels and seeing who can use which the most, but otherwise very good match.
Rating: ***3/4

Tag Team Championship: Legacy of Destruction(c) vs. Nature

Well if Red's pyrotechnics didn't burn down the Aekea Civic Center the entrances for this match did. Seriously, pyrotechnics in a smaller building = not good. Anyway onto the match which I didn't really have high expectations for, mainly because the Tag Team Division went from looking okay again to dying once more right after. I have no problems with the start of this match, but as it goes along all it seems to be is a bunch of thrown together moves. Not to mention Nature ends up looking like a couple of jobbers thanks to LoD kicking out of their finishers. When you want to build tension the CHALLENGERS kick out of the CHAMPION'S finishers (if they aren't winning). Still, I think most people know why the ending was the way it was (and an amusing one it was) so overall a pretty decent to good match.

Pure Wrestling Rules: 2 out of 3 Falls: Austin Azure vs. Riona Langly

This is the match I was looking forward to most out of this entire card, which is strange because if you would have told me the card before BB '05 I would have said the ME was the match I was looking forward to most. I apologize in advance if my analysis of this match is a bit more thorough and long than usual, but this was truly a classic match. What really sets it apart from most BTWF matches is how well everything was put together and the stories they followed. For example in the first fall Austin goes after Riona's midsection. You may ask yourself why he is doing this, but as the fall goes along you realize it is because Austin has a set of moves for doing this all thought out and hasn't used these moves before which throws Riona, who would be looking for a set-up to the Shattered Destiny, totally off her game. Sure the main stories of the first two falls (Austin being able to beat Riona cleanly) and the last fall (both competitors trying to get the other to submit) are great, but it is the little things in this match that make it truly special. Just like the BloodBath '05 match there are so many little things that people will miss out on because they don't look beneath what is presented right to their faces. Simply put this is easily the best Madness match ever and will probably be that way until the BTWF is no more. Anyway I could go on and on about this match, but I'll make it simple and say this is the new STSR (Non-gimmick) MOTY, and if I had to vote between BWR II and this I might actually choose this (which is saying something since I take a LOT of pride in BWR II). Almost forgot...STRETCH PLUM~! *Is one of maybe three people that marked out for that.*

Gaia Championship: Revision(c) vs. Steve Twist

And of course Revision and I end up the poor bastards who have to follow that last match. Really I noticed after this was up that it was not the full edited version, but the edits are little enough not to matter in what was the perfect match to break away from (using the 2 min. per paragraph scale) what was approximately a 75 minute wrestling match. (Note: The 2 min/paragraph scale is using 14-18 full lines in WordPad at Verdana 9, is not applicable to Civil War, and is also how Darson and I found that the Triple Threat at LoS was 68 minutes.) Back to talking about this match which was, surprisingly enough, my first gimmickless one on one match since returning to the BTWF. While the match probably wouldn't be in the running for MOTY right now (although it may be close) it is still an interesting match and probably the best defense Revision has had to date. I'm just surprised no one has whined about the ending although it was done for storyline purposes (since that is how the BTWF is booked ::feigned shock:: ). Not to mention BRAINBUSTERS RULE~!

BTWF World Heavyweight Championship: Darson Grays(c) vs. Killa K

Isn't this match supposed to be called Joe vs. Punk III? (Always have to place a joke in for Darson's matches because he is the only one who won't jump down my throat about it.) Even with the obvious roots from that match however, this does have some interesting stuff in it with Killa trying to take Darson out by going after the HUGE SAMOAN neck. While it may not exactly suit Killa to do this, you have to admit that there was no way Killa was going to be able to brawl with Darson and this plan fit the purposes of Killa well since he wants that BTWF Championship, not just to beat Darson. In the end Darson is able to once again take another opponent out who would threaten his reign as BTWF Champion, but Killa put up a tough fight and I wouldn't be surprised to see a rematch between these two down the road, BTWF title involved or not. Either way this was a good match and the stuff afterwards was...interesting to say the least. While I may not be a fan of his I will say VOORHEES IS BACK!!!

Final Verdict

Easily the best Madness EVER. Never did I think there would be a Madness with a ****1/2 match, but this had two at that level and a ***** match which only 3 out of 14 BTWF PPVs have. Pretty spectacular night for the BTWF where even the worst matches weren't all bad. Just a great way to wrap up June and follow up on ToG II which is easily PPVOTY material. Thumbs way up and a very high recommendation (considering this was a "free" show) for BTWF Madness: Night of Champions IV.

Since June has now passed I've decided that I would collect the ratings for the first half of 2005 for all BTWF PPVs and see how things have been going so far this year in terms of ratings as opposed to last year. (Not to mention if I have time I will go back and do an STSR for the PPVs that are pre-Ragnarok in 2004.) And since I'm not sure really how many people are familiar with what the Review Crew uses as their rating scale I'll give an example here:

***** - Spectacular (Only given to the VERY best of the best.)
**** to ****3/4 - Great (Amazing matches that are, for the most part, the best of the best.)
*** to ***3/4 - Good (Simply good matches, as well as ones bordering on greatness.)
** to **3/4 - Mediocre (Nothing to set them apart, but not horrible.)
* to *3/4 - Below Average (Not the worst of matches, but in serious need of improvement.)
DUD to 3/4* - Worthless (Ranging from complete crap to Hulk Hogan, these suck.)

Now to see how 2005 has gone so far with PPVs and including M:NoC IV.

1st Half of 2005:

***** - 4
**** to ****3/4 - 16
*** to ***3/4 - 19
** to **3/4 - 7
* to *3/4 - 0
DUD to 3/4* - 0
Unrated/Unfinished - 5

Wow this looks a TON better than the final count for 2004. Definitely a better year with better writers thus far. That or maybe we are going way too easy on ratings, but I'm not sure. Anyway I'm hoping that those numbers keep looking so good as the year goes on so keep up the good work and I'm signing off until next time, whatever that may be. (ftb probably.)
