A. The exterior of the house looks plain, with the exception of a single plastic flamingo, which someone (Progolo has yet to find out who...) has stuck firmly into the front yard. A couple of steps lead up to the porch, which stretches almost the full length of the front of the house. To the left of the door is a wooden dining chair, and to the left is a small potted birch. The door itself bears the number '3.'

B. Immediately in sight is the comfortable living area. A couch, coffee table, and chair face the fireplace in the eastern wall. Nearby is a bookshelf and the ladder to the upper level.

C. The north-western corner of the lower floor has been walled off to provide a private relief area with a large litter box for the many creatures that inhabit the house hold. The single window has been left without blinds or curtains in order to discourage bacteria growth, and the area is therefore very sunny.

D. The eastern half of the house has been made into a kitchen and dining area. In the corner is a small refridgerator and nearby is a tall table dedicated to the preparation of food, a cupboard, and a cabinet that holds canned and dried foods. The dining table has seating for two; the two missing chairs are outside, one in the back, one in the front.

E. The final area of the lower level is the spacious bathroom, with a large claw-footed tub. Above the sink is a cupboard containing toiletries, and a corner cabinet contains fresh towels and countless rolls of toilet paper. A small glazed window above the tub offers light to the room without sacrificing privacy.

A. Most of the upper level is a combination of an office and 'master beroom.' A wooden desk sits against the western wall underneath a window and in a corner is a heavy, peculiarily shaped wardrobe that holds Progolo's clothing. Against the north wall is the head of Progolo's double-sized bed, flanked by two bedside tables. Beside the bed is a pile of sheets and blankets that are molded into a distinct nest shape, which is where the creatures sleep.

B. The south-eastern corner has been turned into a second, smaller bedroom in preparation for the new Aerandir. A curtain and a screen seperate it from the rest of the upper-floor. This enclosed area is mostly undecorated, with only a twin-sized bed and a short dresser that also serves as a bed-side table.

The Aerandir__________________________________

Name: Kalarune, meaning "graceful beauty" in Sorceric. She's more commonly known as Kala, but will also answer to Rune, Alvea (A Sorceric pet name meaning something along the lines of 'sweetie' or 'precious') Pinky, or...Pee, to Yaraif. *Cringe*
Race: Reticulated Giraffe/Caribbean Flamingo Aerandir
Gender: Female
Stage: Gryphon
Ocupation: Fire Mage
Appearance: Standing at about two feet tall, Kala is easily the largest of the Aerandir. Her sinuous neck and long, knobby legs make up most of her height. While her body is covered in the distinct patterns of the Reticulated giraffe, her wings, head/neck, beak and chest are one bright, solid shade of pink, accented by the lusty red of her primary feathers and the black tip of her beak. Slender beige ears and blunt ossicones protrude from her small head, with dull yellow eyes set on either side. Her tail dangles past her knees, ending in a dark brown tuft, and is almost always in motion.
Personality: Very curious, sensitive, and perhaps socially awkward are words one might use describe Kala. Though she loves being around other people and creatures, she doesn't like being the center of attention and seems to become uncomfortable when getting pampered...but maybe that's just because she doesn't like to sit still for long. In her mind, days are best spent exploring with a group of friends or some of her less irritable siblings. She's definetly more of a follower than a leader.
Behavior: Kala is the perfect blend of her 'totem animals,' with all the dignity of a majestic giraffe, and the quiet grace of a flamingo...well. Not really. Actually...she can be a bit klutzy, especially indoors. She's most at home in wide open spaces, like the beach, where she can really stretch out without knocking things over. Being unable to fly due to her build, she only opens her wings when she's really ticked off and prefers to convey her emotions with the flicks of her tail and ears and the movement of her flexible neck. Occaisionally she'll let off a raspy, unmelodic squawk when trying to get another's attention or to indicate that she is listening/paying attention. She even bleats at times, but this is rare. Otherwise she's not very vocal.
Likes: Physical activity, swimming, being a part of small groups, getting into things, warmth, and whatever it is that Progolo feeds her.
Dislikes: Being picked up, sitting down, ladders, and fights.

The Keeper_________________________________

Name: Progolo Dgagn [PROH-gah-loh d'JAYN]
Race: Human(?)
Nationality: Ehhh...foreign?
Gender: Male
Age: Mid- to late-twenties, give or take.
Occupation: Federal Researcher for the Society of Summoners. Occaisionally takes commissions for woodwork to make ends meet.
Physical Appearance: While one wouldn't call him overwhelmingly good-looking, Progolo is attractive in his own way. For one thing, he has the build of a model; broad shoulders, a defined, muscular torso, and long, powerful limbs, all of which is framed by a curtain of rich black hair that brushes dramatically over his face. User Image His bangs fall just so, allowing his soft gray eyes to be clearly visible. Contrasting his masculine body is his delicate face, with its tall cheek bones and narrow, slightly long nose. His slim brows reflect a pensive, serious additude, and his expressions are generally subdued and demure.
Personality: Progolo is noted for his quiet charm and his serious work ethic. He can be fircely defensive when needs be, more often in the interest of others than himself, and nothing gets under his skin like a harsh word. Otherwise, he's a mellow, almost virginal man, with occaisional bouts of grumpiness that tend to be more cute than intimidating.
Behavior: Progolo's posture and behavior hint at a well-bred up-bringing; courteous and sophisticated, assertive but not over-bearing. He's not a particularily animated character, preferring to rely on his clear, deep, slightly accented voice for communication instead of gestures. His air of calm confidence hides well his introverted nature.
Wardrobe: Progolo's wardrobe is stricly practical--no jewellry, no ridiculous accessories, no frivolous brand names. Though her prefers the slightly nerdy look of the button-up shirt and plain slacks, lately he's began to loosen up a little in the heat of Ar'Idil...just one undone button won't kill him, right? And yet, he's still the type of man that would bathe fully dressed if he could.
Additional Information: Though at present Progolo can boast not a single drop of sorcery in his body, the man apparently has had some experience of one sort or another in his past. He doesn't talk much about his history, but will also tell you he has nothing to hide.
Concerning the Aerandir Project: Progolo was not terribly pleased when his boss bullied him into applying for guardianship...even less so when he found out he'd been accepted. His curiosity got the better of him, however, and after a series of mishaps he found himself on Ar'Idil, clutching the essences of an unborn Aerandir. He has disgruntedly come to accept his assignment and, like everything else he does, he persues it with fervor. His greatest complaint, lately, about the arrangement, is that he finds himself BORED TO TEARS. To keep his inner-workaholic satisfied, he's begun to take up some other activities to--grueling remodeling projects on the hut are his specialty. Also, at request, he is tutoring Blanche in magical theory and Makai in music.

Fellow Residents_________________________________

Yaraif the Kun-kun: This five-inch menace can be summed up in one word--headache. Responsible for ninety-five percent of the commotion in Progolo's life, and fifty percent of the population in his household, she absolutely loves eggs, colors, and noise, and she is infamous for her sticky fingers. However, she can be quite helpful and sweet...when she feels like it. So far, Yaraif and Kala have gotten along remarkably well.

Myrrh the Nyokii: Hardly more than a baby and quite helpless though she may be due to frequent illness, Myrrh tends to function as the household's stress relief agent when tension is building. She's very loving and enjoys nothing more than a good cuddle--a trait not lost on Kala.

Taal the Griff: This is the griffin responsible for the other five percent of commotion that Yaraif DOESN'T cause. However, his destruction tends to be on a grander scale, thanks to his pyrokinetic abilities. He's a cowardly creature and usually only destroys things on accident, but since those accidents often involve melting priceless objects or setting fire to furniture, Progolo has to keep a close eye on him. Taal tries to keep out of Kala's way as much as possible, but it seems he's beginning to warm up to his 'little sister'--no pun intended.

Kuntu the...?: Ever since the day it hatched and imprinted on her, this little critter has been Yaraif's minion. It adores shiny objects and is frequently stealing valuable things for its kun-kun 'Mommy'. It will occaisionally stoop to playing with Kala, but it doesn't appreciate her rough-housing in the least.

Kununo the...?: Kuntu's partner in crime. Very obedient and even helpful to Progolo, when Yaraif tells it to be. It doesn't seem to mind playing with or being chased by Kala.

________________________________________Visitors

Took A'van the Sorcerer: An unpleasant lad at best, this young man has made a name for himself as a high-ranking official in the Society of Summoners and a tycoon of extensive wealth. He's personally over-seeing Progolo's project, much to the researcher's chagrin, and takes an almost suspicious amount of interest in Kalarune.

Sahin the Ifrit Djinni: Took's luckless servant--in fact, all things considered, he's more of a slave. As a member of the reclusive and highly magical race of the Ifrit, Sahin has the ability to shapeshift, incinerate, and teleport, but seems absolutely incapable of disobeying any command his master gives him. He visits #3 occaisionally, preferring to help out Progolo on Ar'Idil than run Took's menial errands, and often brings gifts; he's very generous to those that treat him kindly. He's become something like a favorite uncle to Kala.

Mystaven the Eoghan Slenin: One of Progolo's first charges, this exquisitely graceful creature visits Ar'Idil every now and then to help out with his less-responsible peers while his 'master' is busy. Though extremely intelligent and serene, Mystaven can be a bit dense at times and judges people by the strengths of their will, instead of the strengths of their character. He and Kala share a master-pupil like relationship--and a cool one at that.

Friends___________________________________________

Rawiya: Rawiya became the first fellow Aerandir Kalarune had ever met when their paths crossed on the Ar'Idil beach. It was a tense meeting, as Kala inadvertantly offended the flighty macaw/zebra mix in a game of tag. They seemed to come to terms with each other, but Kala still remains anxious that she's made an enemy.

Blanche: Kalarune practically worships the ground this arctic Aerandir walks on. They became fast friends after meeting in the Ar'Idil lodge, shortly before Blanche's growth into her child stage. Kala refuses to let the feather she received from Blanche out of her sight.

Tayte: Ah...what to say about Tayte? Tayte is a strange, but highly self-appreciating little guy who's decided that Kala makes a worthy bodyguard and audience. Though he can be a bit...odd...at times, the two get along really well. Kala gets a friend with a big vocabulary (and ego) and Tayte gets an accomplice...and an occaisional lab rat.

Faust: These two met during the Halloween event, and hit it off well. He's likely the only child on the island tall enough to meet her eye-to eye, and their physical similarites lead Faust to declare the two of them 'foot-friends.'

Makai: How Kala loves short boys! <3 Especially short boys who like music and share candy with her!

Photos and Memories_______________________

User ImageJuly.13.05 - Jan.06.06 || Beginning
Kalarune first came in this form; a Carribean flamingo feather and a single giraffe ossicone in two seperate jars. The feather's jar didn't survive the transition from Barton to Ar'Idil, so it had to be placed in a substitue jar (belonging to Yaraif) until the two artifacts were united. Sparks could be seen occaisionally passing between the two jars, and reacted violently when touched by a certain sorcerer...

Jan.06.06. - ??.??.06 || Signs of Life...
The Aerandir's jar began to glow within hours after the artifacts were united and the gryphon-to-be named. Its light had the brightness of a 10 watt light bulb and exuded a gentle blue aura, which wavered and responed when touched. The glass seemed to breathe with life.

User Image??.??.?? - ??.??.?? || Gryphon
Kalarune emerged with an explosion of glass and a noisy squawk. Moments after coming to life she exhibited immediate physical control over her body, a trait assumedly derived from her giraffe essence, though she was a bit awkward in her movement.

User Image??.??.?? - ??.??.?? || Child
Kala's human! ;w; ...rather unexpectedly. After unearthing a pair of mysterious glass orbs and a white strip of cloth in Progolo's closet, Kalarune formed into very tall, very angular girl. The orbs were fastened to a staff for safe keeping, and the ribbon serves as an accessory of many uses. Her motor skill progressed quickly at this level, and she has developed a love for dancing along with running. Her speech, however, is notably stunted.

Kalarune received this feather form Blanche as a gift when the two met for the first time in the Ar'Idil lodge. She loves it to death and insists on carrying it around with her. Touch it at your own risk. ^^;

The Journal____________________________________

Kala's story will be told in several different ways. Below is a guide indicating what the different types of posts mean.

The Aerandir Journal
This is the book Progolo records Kala's progress in for the purpose of being studied by the Aerandir Staff. It is written in a fairly simple style, as it is only for research, but effectively records Kala's physical and social behavior. It may also include photos of Kalarune. An entry in the Aerandir Journal will be indicated by --.

Progolo's Journal
This account is primarily Progolo's true feelings about Kala, his project, the current situation, or simply things that don't belong in the Aerandir report. It is written in first person, from Progolo's point of veiw, in Sorceric, (Translated to English, of course) and will be indicated by --.

Roleplay
RPs are third-person accounts of day-to-day life or situations. Though they will generally follow the members of the household, they will occaisionally record the events of other characters such as Sahin, Took, Mystaven, and others.

Multiple-Player Roleplay
These are roleplays between multiple users, generally fellow Aerandir Owners. Though a link will be provided to the thread(s) where the roleplay actually took place, many will be compiled and rewritten in third-person accounts.

Letters
Letters that are exchanged along the way will be posted in --.

Hello again?

I really hope you don't mind, but Blanche has been trampling all over my writing material for the past few days, as I can only assume that she's been missing Kala's company. How would you feel about the pair of them meeting up again?

I know I didn't get much of a chance to introduce myself last time we met, but I was just wondering: how did you get involved in the Aerandir project? If I remember rightly, I picked up a leaflet about it, and felt it was best to do something at my stage of life for Gaia. My boss, of course, didn't agree. I don't know if you've heard of it, but I used to take photographs for the Barton Gazette?

I'm sorry for prying, but I always found it interesting to hear different people?s perspectives on why they came to the Island. Oh! Blanche now only has one last item before she becomes a child: I just need to find her a few gemstones, which unfortunately I have none lying around the house.

I'm hoping somebody will read and pick up the letter upon the board, as I can't wait to have a humanoid lying around the house. I don't think I ever got to ask, but has Kala been assigned a job yet?

- Emiko Pallone.

P.s Blanche hasn't let her red feather linger far out of her sight since Kala gave it to her. She's presently trying to 'paint' a few sheets of paper for her item box, and she's been trying to copy the feather's shape. I can't say she's had much luck, but it's something to do with the paint I have lying around the house.
