For those of you thinking "huh?" that's Out of Character Role Play Chat. xd I figured it'd be nice for the players in our Guild RP to have a place to chat about what's going on, what they'd like to have go on and whatnot. Y'know, just general RP related stuff.

What made me think of this is that I know at least three of the RPers (me, Mystic and Delaney) have OCs (Original Characters) in their fics and I was wondering how their OCs compared to their RP characters. So two questions!


1.) If you have an OC how does it compare to your RP character?

2.) How do you compare to your RP character?

Well, let me see...

In answer to the first question, my fiction character Delaney is more stubborn and a lives in her own apartment. She first meets Mikey in a wearhouse, where she doesn't know what to make of him. Her parents were killed by a band of ninjas a month before. She tries to take care of herself, and doesn't want to hurt anyone around her with her problems. She is very observant and eventually becomes a detective. And then something happens to her later, but I can't say yet, since I haven't posted that chapter yet. My RP character is more of a happy go lucky girl, and doesn't try to place so much blame on herself. In some ways she still is stubborn, but has a happy silver lining to each of her clouds. sweatdrop

And on to the second question,
In all aspects I'm pretty much more like my RP character. Well.... except for the fact that RP Delaney has a baby and lives in the sewers. sweatdrop But as far as personallity goes, I'm more like the one in the RP. Apparence too... at least the best I could get it. As sad as it is, I tried to get my fanfiction Delaney to be the second embodiment of myself, she was going through some things that I would never experience, so I couldn't put everything I am into her. You know? I don't know... but in answer toyour question, I am more like my RP self.

I haven't thought up Lady's backstory yet, I just know she doesn't have family and she's been on her own until she met Mystic. I'll most definately write some kind of backstory fic at some point, y'know... get to do all that angsting I just never get a chance to do in the RP. xd

That's pretty cool. Um... my OC has the same name as my sister... *L* but there's no real reason for that, my sister has NOTHING to do with TMNT. I just liked that Jesse could be male or female. (And she spells it Jessie... of course both are really Jessica.)

Another question, which is already OT b/c it deals with OCs more than RP characters. We know our RP characters are basically Mary Sue's, there's no real need to argue that. But in all honesty, do you think your OCs are?

I fought the fact that mine might be. Now though... well she is the most Mary Sue-ish of all my OCs, she's more like me than any of the others and even some of the things I write about (like her stay in a mental hospital) are loosely based on things that have happened to me. Now after re-reading a set of fics by a friend who proudly admits her OCs are Mary Sues, I'm not so sure it's a bad thing anymore... I'm so confused!!!


Don't get me wrong, I'll still b***h slap the crappy MSs that take cannon characters OOC and make themselves perfect and the center of attention and YUCK!

Okay . . . I'll bite whee :

In my fanfics my 'alter ego' (that a better title for her?) is named Redfeather; she was a Foot Soldier until she healed another soldier and then helped another OC to escape the Foot and get back to the Turtles. Raph and her are, naturally, together. (I'm sooo transparent, ne?) She's got the healing ability, like my RP girl, but she looks quite different -- Redfeather's got that nice reddish tint Native Americans have ('cause I love Indian stuff 3nodding ), green eyes, and blood red hair . . . we're talking so red Raph could loose a mask in there and not find it for a week! xd She's the daughter of a millionaire (ode to Batman, okay ninja ) and her weapons of choice are the sai (duh!) and a whip (hello, I love Indiana Jones -- can ya tell?). Last thing is that she ends up with a sort of telapathic link to Raph, so she doesn't get mad at him nearly as much as she probably would otherwise.

Artue, my RP self, is like another me. She's even a bit closer to being like me than Redfeather! Her gray hair and fox ears are basically 'cause I love Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho (and, yes, Inuyasha too!), while her red eyes are a tribute to Hiei, from the same series. Other than that, she's basically me borrowing Redfeather's healing ability (I hate doctors . . I'm not going to go writing about them! Besides, I think her having my First Aid knowledge should, with help from that mysterious whatzit that 'miraculously' healed Lady and Mystic, be enough) and a variation of Nightcrawler's little poofing/ transporting thing . . though I might actually drop that soon. I'm seriously considering it. I'm trying to get Emo Glasses so she'll look even more like me! wink

In RL I go around, more or less, in jeans and those wonderful baseball-type shirts (mine are from Old Navy, btw), but I don't usually wear sandals -- I prefer those little flat shoes that I can get at stores around here for around $5, that remind me of the shoes they wear in Ranma 1/2 all the time. Though I do own a pair of sai, I am not nearly as physically fit as either my OC or my RP self . . . and I wear glasses because I'm nearsighted. I do know first aid, I give foot rubs to those who ask nicely, and know a few pressure points in case of a headache starting when I'm away from a source of aspirin. ^_^



I wish I could slap whoever made up Carter for the last season of the old cartoon -- it's like they did a total 'Dark Crystal' thing and sucked the Turtles' essence out . . only to stick it into a dreadlocked character who's voice actor would go on to annoy my siblings as Static Shock! Idiotic last season! stressed And people think that Venus was bad!? I think Carter was 5 times worse!

(Also, here we get the reason that I'm not so keen on sharing my own Raph fics at the moment . . . I still need to go back and adjust nearlly half his lines to make sure he doesn't drift too far into the land of OOC! sweatdrop )

I swear . . the worst OOC Turtle fics I've ever come across are nothing to me now in the light of that . . . that thing they made of that whole last season! The Turtles practically spent their time running around saying 'Carter, we can't do anything without you! We're so weak!' And to top it off they had their mutations going wonky and so we ended up with these wierdo versions of the boys where, for example, Raph had those long claws on his hands and feet -- even a pair coming out of his elbow!? eek No . . no fanfic can damage them worse than that last season did. Not in a million years . .

But isn't it even worse when it's a so-called 'official' episode or comic? I mean that!
