Okay, I put in my order and got Decemberunderground on the earliest release I could. All excited I turned it on to listen; I knew I'd love it because AFI have not done a single song that I have not loved beyond words. But Decemberunderground... lets just say I was not impressed.

I liked the Prelude 12/21, and then Kill Caustic was okay, Miss Murder was brilliant and Summer Shudder was melodic. But after that I started thinking "Where are the heavy songs? What's with all the soft/slow songs?" I like soft music, but a whole cd worth?? I think no.

What happaned? I was this close to having to put the cd under 'Pop' when loading it in to my laptop, I couldn't bring myself to do it so I settled for 'Easy Listening'. I have never been disappointed by AFI before, but this cd felt like a knife in the back.

You aren't the only one disappointed.
I wouldn't stick you under the category of all of the militant assholes who flame their myspace page, but...
Hm. Give it another few listens.

And understand that AFI is constantly undergoing change. You can hop off of their fanbase any time you want to. Nothing's binding you to it. .-.

I would say what Mia said. Give it another chance...it will probably grow on you...A.F.I has that power...haha....

Yeah *agrees with Mia*

At first it was hard to adjust to but I kept listening to it. The more I did, the harder it was to get it out of my CD player.

Besides, they're always making new sounds with their new music so hopefully the next album will be just as good (maybe in a different style)

Quote from Jade: "I think that's an important part of it, letting an album or a song grow on you and reveal itself to you. That's the most rewarding part of my own enjoyment of music." I think he is right. I'm not trying to force you into liking it...if your getting that vibe... I'm just trying to consider the possibilities 3nodding .

I completely disagree, I love this album.
The more I listen to it the more I like it.
And it's important that their cd isn't exactly like the one before it.
And if you've noticed no A.F.I cd has been the same.
I hate when people expect it to be the same, no second cd that I have bought from a band has been the same.
It's true though that you have to give it some time.
A lot of cd's that I've bought I've thought woah all the songs sound the same, but after listening to it 3 more times they don't.

I can't get enough of this cd, I love every song.

A lot of new sounds have been added too, I like that.
A.F.I doesn't stick to the same sound, they change, and they aren't afraid to.
This is why it's possible for people to like A.F.I at different times throughout their career. A whole bunch of people I know love this cd but didn't like sing the sorrow. Or like liked their earlier stuff and not the newer or vice versa.

This cd isn't sing the sorrow, and I wouldn't want it to be either, sing the sorrow was amazing. And it's good in a completely different way that decemberunderground is.

Anyway everyone has their own opinion, and I don't think it's wrong not to like this cd, but like everyone else said give it a chance, if you don't like it oh well. People like different music.

Well if you know AFI you know that they don't make a cd the same as the last, which I love, it's more diverse that way and makes you appreciate each cd in a different way.

I love Decemberunderground. I've listened to it over and over. I can't get enough of it. This album is more electronica influenced because that is the kind of music that Davey and Jade like. I read in a magazine that originally Love like Winter and 37mm, were written for Davey and Jade's side project Blacque Audio (sp?) but later had lyrics written to them and became AFI songs.

I don't know how anyone could be disappointed. Did you want it to be exactly like Sing the Sorrow? If you listen to their cds you know how they change from one to another.

The Interview is my absolute favourite song... heart

I, like most of you, rushed out and bought Decemberunderground the day it came out, thinking "Whewt! Old sound, good lyrics, get me on an AFI buzz!" At first, I was really disspointed. I think Davey really stretched and over-used the extremes of singing and yelling. But, the more I listen, the more I like. I think Summer Shudder is my favorite song, and all in all, while it isn't the best, it's still a good AFI album. .___.; The only bad part about it is it comes with all of the "LEIK LOL!! MISS MURDER IS FREAKING AWESOME!!" people. >.>

I thought the same thing about their new CD, but when I listen to it more I'll probably like it. I'm not saying that I'm going to like it after one more try, but if you listen to it a few more times it might grow on you.

Well... I was a bit dissappointed, at first. Especially when I first listeded to Endlessly, she said... And compared to the new Dir en grey CD I got... It just couldn't compare. Going from one thing to something completely different was sort of an ear shock... But, after listening to the CD MANY times... Everything just... grew on me. It's not what AFI used to be, but what they are today. And I have accepted that.

I was disappointed as well; Affliction had a nice beat to it and Kiss and Control was catchy, but nonetheless no one seems to have been impressed by this "sudden change." Kill Claustic was a winner I suppose for this album. ;P

I didn't get past the second track, even knowing Miss Murder and Love Like Winter were coming up. Seriously, I wish I hadn't bought the cd at all. And I'm kind of angry with myself more than anything because I knew from Miss Murder that the album was probably going to be really poppy. *sigh* Anyone want my cd?

As for Marrow of the Bone, DaveysTearsofBlood, which was your favorite song?
