It'd been a week since Jestari had brought that new chime home, and Rulala was bored to tears. And frankly... kind of unsettled. That chime gave her an uneasy feeling.

So, after declaring to a confused Jestari and amused Bryan, Rulala temporarily removed her chime from it's place on the window and fixed it to the string of beads she wore like a sash, and went to the shop where her chime had been bought. She was curious, after all, and wanted an excuse to explore land that wasn't around the house, and the land near the shop would do nicely.

:-:

She'd been exploring for a good while now, and was wishing she'd decided to wear shoes. Not the best idea in the world to come here barefoot, like I go around the house.

Note to self: Wear shoes next time.

Thus, tired and footsore, she decided that she very much deserved a rest, and selected a rather large rock in the clearing she was in (not that far from the shop really- she was simply a thorough explorer), and promptly sat.

"At least it's pretty here." She commented in satisfaction, as brightly as she could in the situation, which was... rather bright.

Between the chicken pox infiltrating the household and her bond's nearly-paranoid wish that no one should leave the house, Orali was starting to go nuts. It was evidenced in the way she sat by her window staring into space when she'd usually be brandishing a broom handle at someone. For Orali, acting normal was a sign that something was up.

Which was how she'd gotten permission to go out. Kiyu had packed the chime in a small backpack, insisting that Orali take it with her. The spirit herself had added a few things, and grabbed a fallen branch from outside to use as both a walking stick and, if need be, a whacking stick.

As Orali neared the shop she noticed the distinct lack of things to whack. Which was probably good in the long run, though she cound't help but feel a hint of disappointment. All there was were trees and grass and rocks, and a nicely dressed woman. Most of which she could find back home. The woman merited a second look however, and Orali decided to head over. At least she could be polite and say hello.

It took Rulala a moment to realize that someone was actually nearby. It took her another half moment to realize that that someone was walking towards her.

A fourth a second later, the spirit had turned in her seat to face the stranger (chime at her hip chinking with the movement), to see who appeared to be.. a female chime spirit?

"Hello there! What are you doing here?" She smiled widely in greeting, waving a little.

As she got closer Orali noticed the chime around the woman's hip, mostly from the sound it made with every movement. She also couldn't help notice how pretty the woman looked. A bit self-conscious, Orali rubbed her orange elbow, half-covered by a plain blue shirt. She'd never minded her appearance before, but at home most of the people dressed simply as well, Kiyu being the one exception.

Trying not to dwell, she put on her best smile and waved back. "I decided to do some exploring today. And you? Do you know this area well?" It would help to have some expert opinion, but even ordinary company was nice. "Oh, my name is Orali. It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise! Orali is a beautiful name- Mine is Rulala." The woman responded with a pleased smile - hey, she'd gotten a name from someone who was not technically obligated to give her one for the first time! She had a right.

If she noticed Orali's sudden nerves, and there was no way of telling if she did or not, Rulala didn't comment on them. Or Orali's dress. She was really the only one that dressed this way at home. Jestari was casual most of the time, Bryan was a dog, and the Nimue... the Nimue went naked.

...Ahem.

"This area? I just began exploring it today! It's quite pretty."

Rulala's compliment certainly cheered Orali up somewhat, but it was the comment about the surroundings that made her forget her worry. So they were both newcomers to the area, in a manner of speaking. Even though that meant she couldn't ask for directions or about any interesting features, Orali thought it would be better that way. Maybe they could do a little exploring together!

But first, she could use a moment's rest. Propping her stick against the rock, Orali crossed her legs and sat down on the grass. "Have you found anything interesting? What made you decide to explore anyway?"

((Okay, no more pink. XD That color is blinding. ))

To Rulala's mind, being new to an area was the best way to be, if said area wasn't crawling with the dangerous strangers Jestari had lectured her to keep an eye out for just before she left. It made it so much more exciting to discover things instead of knowing that they were already there.

"I've seen several birds that do not visit us at home, and there are many more trees here than there.." That was what was interesting, to Rulala. She was easily pleased, when in a good mood. "I decided to explore because things had become monotonous at home. And," She added in a conspiritorial whisper. "Jestari has purchased a new chime. I always feel like it's watching me." She made a face.

Trees and birds were not exactly what Orali considered a rollicking time. Sure, they were pretty, but that wasn't why she'd come. She wanted to find something interesting. Like a treasure map or a lost key. Though finding another Chime Spirit certainly qualified. The company was what Orali was enjoying the most so far.

The mention of another chime put the girl on her guard however, and she ran her fingers through her short hair. "Watching you? That's a bit odd. I mean, Kiyu never brought home another chime, but I made one once, for fun. It never felt like it was watching me."

Rulala pulled another face. "Well, I'm not sure at all why this one is different. It's not like there's bad intention in the watching... it's more like it's studying us very closely. It's kinda creepy."

If it were not obvious, Rulala hadn't been all too thrilled with the new chime when Jestari'd brought it home, but she was attempting to acclimate herself to it. If only in the hopes that it'd be interesting when the spirit came.

"Are you sure it's not just curious?" Orali frowned. She'd never heard of a creepy chime. Creepy things were usually bad things in Orali's mind, and bad things were to be exterminated. But a chime couldn't be bad, especially one that just watched.

Of course, Orali didn't have too much experience with other chimes, so she shrugged. "Do you think it's a bad chime anyway?"

"I think what that chime is, is beyond just curiosity." Rulala waved a hand, attempting to explain how it felt... but failed. And so, she didn't try anymore, and went on to the next question without a second thought.

"Well, I dunno. I don't think it's necessarily bad, but I don't think it's necessarily good either. We'll have to wait for the spirit to show itself first, I guess."
