Demare flipped through the channels on the TV, looking for something good to watch. Neko had locked the library that morning after Demian threw a fit the previous night, having managed to destory one of the hanyou's oldest tomes in an attempt to make sure Clare didn't read its contents. It was a book listed under one of the websites Mayu had given to him, and he'd spent what time he had left in the body just finding the damn thing.
Neko was now upset with him, and he was grumpy because he wasn't able to do what he wanted. His guardian told him that from now on, she'd keep watch while he read the tomes, to make sure Demian didn't try that stunt again; however, that meant that she needed time to watch him, and right now that wasn't happening. Manior had managed to sneak out of the yard yet again, and she was off looking for him.

Kimiko was.. worried. Mayu had been holed up in her bedroom all morning. She hadn't eaten a thing for a day, and was starting to look a little pale.. Reluctantly, she reached for the phone and dialed the numbers in.
A ring, another, and finally someone picked up.
"Could I.. talk to Demare?" she asked the recieving party, sighing. "I'll cut to the chase: Mayu's depressed and I need someone to cheer her up. She sounded fine on IM last night, no? She's not fine. She won't eat, or even leave the room. If you could.. please come help. I'm worried about her."
Hanging up, the black-haired one sighed and shook her head. It was hard for her to even make that call, for her to admit that she needed outside help to cheer her own child up, but she had gotten it over with quickly. Now, to wait for the boy to arrive..

As the phone rang, Demare waited a few moments before getting up to answer it. He was hoping someone else would, but the others appeared to be ignoring it. Picking up the receiver, he held it up to his ear.
"Hello?" came the automatic question, and the child was a little surprised to hear the familiar voice on the other end.
"Could I.. talk to Demare?" the woman spoke, not even giving an actual greeting. Was that Kimiko?
"Um... this is him," he responded, frowning slightly. Was she calling about the IM from last night?
"I'll cut to the chase: Mayu's depressed and I need someone to cheer her up. She sounded fine on IM last night, no? She's not fine. She won't eat, or even leave the room. If you could.. please come help. I'm worried about her."
His heart felt like it stopped beating for a moment. She wasn't okay like she'd said...? He'd nearly dropped the phone, not sure how to respond to that for a long moment.
"I'll be right over," he said, hanging up the phone before it COULD be dropped.
Taking a moment to find the address Kimiko had given Neko that day they'd come over, Demare bolted up the stairs to his room, not even hesitating to step into Demian's realm using the full-length mirror attached to the outside of the closet door. She'd said they lived in Durem... The address looked familar, and he thought it might be around one of the clothing shops Neko had taken him to a few times.
What are you doing? the demon demanded, still ticked over the night's events. At least the angel's research would be slower now.
Something's wrong with Mayu, the boy said simply, not bothering to speak aloud. He moved through the shadows quickly, looking for the right spot to step out. Was it that one? No... it was farther out.
And you're using MY shadows because...?
Not now, Demian. I need to get there quickly.
Need I remind you where you ar--
Santebus. Malik sabet nortus.
The demon fell silent, Demare smirking a little bit. He'd be out for a good five or six hours if not longer, having used a stronger sleep spell than the last time. Approaching one of the darker spots embedded in the shadows, the child stepped out of the realm and into an alley way, right next to Durem Depot. From there, it only took him a little less than 10 minutes to find the right neighborhood and the house, the halfling knocking on the door as he approached. He'd only taken about 15 minutes total to get there, while it was normally about a 30 minute walk from Neko's to Durem.

Kimiko opened the door widely, ushering Demare in. She led him past the group stationed in the living room, down the colorful hallway, and up the stairs.
"You'll see the room," she said, "It's the one with pink decor." Pointing down the hallway, she waved and returned downstairs. She couldn't leave the kids alone for more than a few minutes at most.
Mayu was seated at the edge of her bed, hugging a pillow tightly. There was a plate of food and a glass of milk on the nightstand, both untouched. She hadn't even bothered to change out of her pajamas -- she wasn't planning to go outside of her room today, so she had found no use.
Looking up idly as Demare approached the room, she tried to put on a smile to greet the boy.. and failed. Miserably.

The halfling was quiet as he found himself only able to stare at the girl for the moment, his bi-colored eyes showing a bit of sadness. He didn't even dare to smile; while he was happy to see her, he was a little upset that it had to be in this kind of situation. She looked... terrible. Not that he was all that great himself; his hands were still heavily bandaged from the burns, black marks all over his shirt from where Neko couldn't fix the discoloration. His right arm was completely bandaged, more so than usual at least, and his right wing looked larger than before though still torn and mangled.
Quietly, he stepped into the room, walking right up to his friend. Carefully, he rested himself down to sit on his knees in front of her, tugging his scarf loose so he'd be able to speak clearly.
"Why didn't you tell me, Mayu...?" Demare said a bit sadly, slightly disappointed over being lied to. That could be forgiven, but right now he was just worried. "Why couldn't you tell me that you were sad...?"

"I don't want anyone to share my sadness..." she whispered, clenching at the pillow with her left hand while reaching up to pat her cheek slowly with her right. It was slightly swollen from the punch that she had recieved so generously from Loki, even though it wasn't that strong a hit.
"So, why are you here?" Mayu asked, this time with a stronger voice. She gave a faint smile to show that she was happy for the boy's presence, even with her depression.

Opening his mouth to say something, he stopped as he noticed Mayu's swollen cheek, his eyes growing a little wide. He sat up a little more on his knees, moving a little closer to her to see better. Lifting a hand, he gently placed it over hers on her face, his brow furrowing with concern.
"What... happened?" he asked instead. "Why is your face swollen like that...?"

"Kimiko invited.. him over," Mayu said, now with a hint of scorn in her voice. It was obvious that she was still angry about the whole situation at the headquarters that had taken place weeks ago.
"What happened to your.. clothes?" she asked, after a moment of silence.

Him? Oh... Loki. He narrowed his eyes a little bit, angry that the hyena boy had harmed her. It must have happened before their... "chat", as he was sure after whatever Demian did to him, he'd be out of commission for a while.
"I ran into him last week," he said quietly, glancing down toward the floor. "I don't remember everything, but he and Demian had quite a fight. He managed to break a few of the marks on my right arm, and supposedly Demian did something very bad. He wouldn't tell me what, though, just that Loki should be leaving us alone for quite some time."
Demare shook his head a little bit. This wasn't a time to bring up those things. He was here to cheer up Mayu, after all, not depress her more. Looking back up at her for a moment, he got an idea.
"Where do you keep your bandages and wraps?" he asked curiously, standing up off of the floor. He eyed the food that was on the nightstand, putting that next on his agenda.

Mayu was feeling slightly better now, slightly releasing the tight grip she had on her pillow.
"In the bathroom, behind the mirror.. but I have some band-aids in the nightstand since I p***k myself while sewing sometimes." She pointed to the shelf, where a box of band-aids was sitting innocently. "Are you bleeding?" she asked, frowning. Old habits came up first.

Demare glanced at the bandages on the shelf for a moment, then looked back to Mayu. He needed a bigger one for what he wanted to do.
"N-no... but... You'll see what I'm doing in a moment," he told her, smiling warmly. "I'll be right back. While I'm gone, could you... pull up your right sleeve as much as possible for me?"
With that, he left the room and began to search for the bathroom. It wasn't that hard to find, the child going in and snatching a roll of bandages, as well as a large bandaid. Taking the items with him, he went back to Mayu's room, still smiling.
"Can you hold out your arms for me, and spread your fingers apart?" he asked her, knowing they were odd requests, but he hoped she would go along with it without asking too many questions.

An odd request, but Mayu complied, tugging the sleeve up to her shoulder so the right-hand side of her shirt remembled more of a tank top than a pajama top. She had forgotten about her sadness as she wondered what he was planning, looking over at the door with a confused expression.
She once again complied to his strange request, holding out her arms as he told her to do so.

Placing the bandaid on the bed next to Mayu, he allowed the bandage roll to fall to the floor, holding the end of it. This shouldn't take too long... He was pretty good with this after having to wrap his own arms up, after all.
Carefully, but quickly, he began to wrap the long bandage around Mayu's fingers and arm, starting with the left and working downward so the end would dangle from her wrist. Using his dagger to cut it, he wrapped her right arm up, but wrapped it completely, much like his own. Once he was finished, he smiled again, picking up the large bandaid from the bed and taking the back off to reveal the adhesive, then stuck it over his right cheek.
"There! Now we match," he declared, standing upright as his wings fidgetted a little bit. He was hoping for a laugh, a smile... something possitive to let him know she was at least amused.

Mayu looked down at the bandages that were wrapped around her arm, then at the band-aid that Demare had stuck upon his own face. She looked back and forth between the two, finally letting out a small giggle. So they did match..

Oh, good. At least his effort hadn't gone completely unappreciated.
"Hey, I'm kinda hungry," he said, holding a hand over his stomach. "Are you?"
