Today our choir had to sing at graduation, but afterwords, we were going to a choir member's house. See, her mom is dying from cancer and only has a few days left, or even a few hours left, we don't know which. Her last request to hear us sing her favorite song of ours (My Soul's Been Anchored in the Lord, by Moses Hogan). So, we filed into her backyard near the family room sliding glass door (she can't get out of bed at all), and sang it. But we also sang "A Gaelic Blessing", which came out perfectly, sounding like a prayer for our friend's mom. Then our friend's dad came out in tears, so thankful that we had done that for them. Of course, that made all of us girls burst into tears, and the guys were, really, really quiet (which is unusual for them). They offered us cookies, but only the guys took them because we girls were too emotional to eat anything.
...So, what's the saddest moment in choir for you guys?

Graduation always is for us. Mainly our last concert of the year where we sing to the senoirs and then they go up and say what they're going to be doing and stuff. Everyone cries. We lost all three of our tenors(in Chorale) this year and they really bring the comedy to the choir. It was real sad this year because we lost so many people.

everybody go When the seniors leave...
It's always sad.
And then for the Freshman chorus, a soprano and good friend of mine got hit by a truck. And then John Gurga...man, we're still kinda suffering from this... He got burnt, and a lot of the girls in the chorus are at least somewhat friends with him. It's sad... EVERYBODY JUMP

beautiful. I respect your choir so much for doing that.
Well, I think that during our first major performance, we sang Never Seek to Tell Thy Love, and it is a beautiful, moving song... I dunno, it was cool.
After I learned how to sing, I sang at a funeral for my friend who got stabbed to death early this year. I played my guitar and sang... I choked up in the middle, and my other friend who was singing with me had to take over lead until I could pick it up again. We did Perfect Grave by Social Code, and it really cut to the core.

Wow. That was an admirable thing for your choir to do.
So far, mine was the 8th grade`s last choir concert. The Concert Choir and regular choir got up on stage and sang "Graduation" by Vitamin C (I GOT A SOLO!!!!), and so many of us were crying durring the song although you couldn`t hear it in our voices. Our director mocked us afterwards...
Preppies in the choir: (To eachother) "OHMIGAWD MIDDLE SCHOOL`S OVER SOB SOB SOB EMO TEAR!!!"
Me: "...MIDDLE SCHOOL`S OVER!!! PARTY AT MY HOUSE!!!!" *Twenty-billion backflips* (I hated middle school, except for choir and my rad English teacher.)
Preppies in the choir: "SHUT UP, JACKIE!!!"
Me: "What? It`s YOUR fault I hated middle school in the first place!"
My friends: "Yeah!"
Mr. Martin: (High-pitched voice) "Awwww, I`m gonna miss everybody until I see them at high school three months later!"
Everyone: "You`re one to talk, we`re never seeing you again! crying " (Mr. Martin`s moving to a whole nother school district...so we can`t go back and visit him at the middle school...)
Mr. Martin: "YOU GUYS WAS THE BESTEST 8TH GRADE CONCERT CHOIR EVER!!!!! crying I`LL MISS YOU ALL!!!!!"
*Group Huggles!*

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy That's so awesome that you guys did that! Mel_Darkflame beautiful. I respect your choir so much for doing that. Dubbleyoo Tee Eff Wow. That was an admirable thing for your choir to do. Thank you. It was really sad, because the day after at about 3:00 in the afternoon, I got a call from my friend saying that her mom had died. We're all (well, most) going to attend the funeral this weekend so we can be there for our fellow choir member. ;_; Mel_Darkflame After I learned how to sing, I sang at a funeral for my friend who got stabbed to death early this year. I played my guitar and sang... I choked up in the middle, and my other friend who was singing with me had to take over lead until I could pick it up again. We did Perfect Grave by Social Code, and it really cut to the core. Wow, I'm really sorry. It's really hard to do stuff like that, but it was good of you and your friend to do it anyway.

This year at my school one of my good guy-friends killed himself and we were going to learn a new song for choir the same day we found out. The song was called, "Goin' Up a Yonder" which was just a coincidence. It was such a beautiful and sad song about someone who dies and it was done so beautifully by our choir. And I was just so sad already when my teacher started singing it to us, I almost started crying. sad

While graduation is always an emotional moment for anyone in musical arts, I'd have to say my Chorus' defining moment was when we were crowned NATIONAL CHORUS CHAMPIONS. We went to go compete at Nationals in Georgia and we won every single award in our division. We were sooo proud! Nothing can replace the overwhelming sense of accomplishment that I felt that day. heart

For me it wasn't graduation, but my farewell concert at the end of my senior year. There were so many of us leaving, we were all close to tears.
Then, at the end of this year, during our last concert before commencement, my director sang an arrangement of "No one is alone" from Into the Woods. It was really beautiful and we all were crying by the end of it. He always told us during our concerts that he would give us a quarter if we made him cry, and he kept good on it the one time that one of our soloists made himi cry, a few of us, after the concert, handed him quarters.
Also, on the other end of the emotional spectrum, was when I was in Les Miserables and we went to do a concert for a homeless camp. We were able to coordinate a bus to bring them up as well, so we reserved the best seats in the house for them for one of our best nights. The gratitidue that those people had for us was something I'll have with me the rest of my life.
