Mwenzanu was a simple creature, who loved nothing more then to follow pretty things. But, this time around....following a butterfly, and then a feather, perhaps got him into more of a sticky situation then ever. For he was on top of a mountain. A really cold mountain.
Not that he noticed much, but it was definately different from the warmer lands that he was born in. But it was so pretty here, the white of the snow so much like his coat, and he fit in, rather well, if he thought so himself.
The bumbling fluff trolluped through the snow, fascinated by it. So cold, yet so soft, and it was such fun to play in. The adult lion certainly looked intimidating, judging on his large size and fluffy fur, but on the inside he was just a cub, loving everything that he found in the world.
And he had just found something that he really liked. A little flower, obviously enjoying the cold, crisp air that Zangu himself was discovering. He took a moment to stop his frolicing, and stared at it as it bent this way and that, from the direction of his breath. The black and white lion's tail swished in the snow, unaware of everything but that flower.

Blissfully unaware of the male's presence, Safi'theluji wandered silently through her domain, her white form barely visible amongst the snow-blanketed ground. The graceful young queen was just barely an adult herself, yet unlike the child-like rogue, her weary mind far surpassed her years.
Though usually she kept towards the dens, something was pulling her away, further from the safety of her pride; the wanderlust of the old ones, though dormant, was still deep within her blood.
As usual, her mind was filled while her stomach sat empty. She pondered why their god had led them here, if such hardships were awaiting them. They were told to live and thrive, and yet, so many had died since her reign. She wasn't certain anymore if she was to fault, or if their god had just abandoned them.. An inaudible sigh escaped her lips. "Give me a sign.."

The male's ears, nearly hidden in the big fluff od a mane that he posessed, picked up the words that the other spoke. Not knowing that the other was there, he looked over his shoulder, trying to see just who was out there. But he didn't see anyone. Hmmm.
Forgetting the flower, Zangu shifted his whole body around, gave out a huff of warm air, foggy in the cold air, and glanced around with his red eyes. He still couldn't see anyone, and he didn't like that. What if they were someone that he could make friend's with? Or maybe...he was just imagining it? He had been alone for quite some time, and though he was usually happy with anything, it would be nice to see another lion every once in a while...
In a deep, but shy voice, he called out to whomever was there. "Who's out there? Is anyone?"

As the voice called out, echoing through the open air, Safi felt as though her heart had fallen clear out of her chest. She froze in her tracks as her ears swiveled backwards in alert, nose twitching busily as it only now picked up the scent of another. His scent lacked the reak of her dark-coated brethren, so she soon came to the conclusion that he was a rogue. Her golden eyes grew wide and frightful, despite the friendly tone of the voice. It was an outsider, after all. Though she had never before actually -met- an outsider, she was fairly sure they were widely considered to be manipulative and unpredictable.
She stepped forward with caution until her eyes finally caught sight of the male a few feet away, his black mane clearly visible against the white snow. She felt her heart dropping again as she noticed his size; clearly he could take her on if he so wished. Was this the answer to her prayers? A lion sent by the gods to slay her for blasphemous thoughts?
She held her head high and tried to seem intimidating, but all attempts failed once she spoke, her voice shaking violently. "W-w-what do you w-want in th-th-th-these l-lands, outsider?"

Mwenzangu's eyes caught the movement of another. He finally knew what it was...another lion! He could barely contain his excitement, until he saw that she was deathly frightened of him. Why? He wasn't mean...couldn't she tell that?
His head drooping, ears laid back in apology, the black and white lion kept his eyes at the snow in front of his white paws. "I'm...I'm sorry. I don't know where I am, I just was following where the butterfly took me..."
Not knowing what else to say, he jsut kept to his pitiful state, not wanting to look up. Yep, he felt ashamed.

The young queen blinked her bright yellow eyes, stunned by the rogue's response. Butterfly..?
She took a few wary steps closer, her expression changing from fear to a look of befuddlement. Was this some sort of roguish trick?.. He seemed geniunely.. Innocent. "Who are you?" She ventured another question, this time in a softer tone. Was it possible that he had happened up here completely by accident?.. Safi'theluji eyed him with equal parts confusion and curiosity. He looked so gentle..

The large, fluffy male slowly lifted his huge head to look at the lioness. I guess...it wouldn't hurt to speak a name. Indeed, he'd probably should at least introduce himself, as it seemed he was in her lands now.
"Oh um...I'm...Mwenzangu." His red eyes met her golden ones, and with that, he glanced away. Such pretty eyes... "I'm...homeless of sorts, though I don't mind much....hey, what's this stuff?" He lifted up a small pawful of the snow, still fascinated by it's cool feel.

The young queen looked on at the large male as he examined his surroundings. "It's snow," she replied, her voice gentle and naturally soothing as her ears delicately pricked forward once more.
She had never heard of this Mwenzangu, and he was decidedly not one of her treacherous kin. His face was kind, as was his demeanor, and though cautious, she wanted to believe him as such. Maybe because despite the warnings she had been given since cubhood, she had never truly known anyone to harm her. Perhaps that made her naive, but she didn't want to be the person to think the worst of people.
She shoved all warnings further from her mind, and even managed a soft smile. "My name is Safi'theluji, and this is my home. Tell me, Mwenzangu; are you looking for something here?"

Zangu inched closer to the snow, still a bit fascinated. "It's really pretty..." he said, as he nosed to stuff. Oh! Too cold for his nose. His head shot up, and he sneezed.
His attention soon wandered back to the lioness that was near him, his red eyes still soft as a flower petal in it's feel. "Safi'theluji." He repeated, nodding to himself. "Pretty name that is, miss. As pretty as this snow...stuff."
It took his mind a bit more to focus on just what she was asking. "No, not really...it just seemed nice and pretty up here, so I wanted to see it closer." He gave himself another nod. "Though there were some other lions below that said this place was ugly. But they were wrong." He gave a goofy smile, still happy as can be.
Until that is, his mind picked up on something that could easily be considered rude. "Oh! I'm uh...sorry if I'm not supposed to be here. I just wanted to look, nothing more..." He flushed a bit. His attraction to nice things had gotten him in touble before, he hoped that this wouldn't too.

For the sake of decorum, the young queen stifled a laugh at his reaction to the snow. His childlike manner warmed Safi to him, and quickly eased her discomfort in the presence of a stranger. "My mother must have thought so, too; I was named after it."
Her smile faltered at the mention of those below, and her tone became somewhat defensive as she stiffened once more in her stance. "The mongrels below know nothing of beauty. They fear that which they are unworthy of and they hate us for our blessings."
Her body loosened a bit after that, and the smile on her lips returned. "If you mean know harm to me and mine, I don't see why you shouldn't." She drooped her head and looked at him, offering no hostility in her body language. "Forgive me for my bad manners; you're the first stranger that I've met. Until now, I was confident all rogues meant nothing but trouble to those of us hidden in the mountain."

The white lion's tail flopped in the snow as he sat in the soft stuff. His fluffy coat seemed to block out the harsh part of a cold, and instead it just felt relaxing, the crisp coldness of the air.
His head dipped a couple times, agreeing with the lioness. "There aren't some nice ones, but there's always nice things somewhere," he said mindlessly, saying things that just made sense to him. He may have also meant that the lions down below on the base of the mountain could be nice, too, but no one would really be able to tell if he really meant that as he spoke. "The white drew me in, since it matches my coat. I stick out elsewhere," he stated matter-of-factly. If it wasn't for the black stripes on his coat, he would be near invisible, just like the queen that stood before him.
