Okay. I don't think this is spoilerish, but if you consider it so, feel freeeee to delete it. Kay? Kay.
Now. Is it just me, or is AxelxRoxas compensation for SoraxRiku fangirls?
Hear me out, hear me out!
Don't get me wrong, I love SoraRiku. Love it to bits. But unfortunately, it is not canon.
Le sigh.
Although SoraKairi hasn't really been ABSOLUTELY confirmed as a couple, but that's just my fangirlosity (Fangirlosity... BAH, it's a technical term!) talking.
But think about it.
Slight spoilers here... vair slight: Some people might see Namine and Roxas as a couple since Sora and Kairi are seen that way, but neither one of them seem to have any real attraction towards the other, let alone affection. So there's no girl in the middle to sorta... w'll, get in the way of the two. You know?
So do you think that- even subconsiously- the oh-so-canon AxelRoxas was "compensation" for not making Riku and Sora canon, (Which didn't stop all that lovely fanservice, right? =D =D =D) considering the HYOOOGE fanbase that has been dedicated to it? (Here I was slashing Roxas with Hayner at the beginning... Seifer and Roxas, too. Silly me. I mean, Siefer DID seem to have a crush on Roxas [His battle cry is so funny and slashable: "Isn't this ROMANTIC?!"] don't'cha think?)
But that's not the point.
The point is, what do you think on my thoughts of stupid? Do you think it's right? Or am I just talkin' outta my foot?
Oh, and if this does qualify as spoiler-esque, once again, my apologies and feel free to delete away. ^___^

Bah, Nothing in Kingdom Hearts is Canon. They never really have anything really say Sora like Kairi, or that He likes Riku. Nor do they say that Axel really likes Roxas the way we'd like to see it as. They just hint around everything, because that's Nomura's style of going through things.
What I'd like to think is yes, Axel does care about Roxas. Weither it can be romantic or not is in the person's perspective. Roxas was just about all Axel really has, adn he basically was really depreate to get him back, which might make it seem he loved him -- Heart or no Heart. :3
Another thing is, I don't really like to think Akuroku was a fan service for the yaoi fan girls. xD

I rambled. . . >__<' That makes sense. Some of the implications in Kindom Hearts can be blatant, and some of them are so subtle that they are barely noticeable and undoubtedly esoteric. It's true what you said: Almost nothing in Kingdom Hearts IS canon. But I think I actually DO like it better that way. Less cut and dry and more open to interpretation. Mostly I just kinda thought of the observation and posted it on impulse. *laugh*

I don't really think Axel/Roxas is Cannon, but I've noticed that the final fantasy games always pander at least a little bit to the slasherfangirls.

It's like they WANT us to slash boys together! XD Actually, yeah. I mean, there are only a few scenes I remember about the girls friendship being the main focus, and they were generally...talking about the boy characters. xD Hmm... Now, onto the actual post. I agree with another user who said it is all up to how you look at relationships in the game. Otherwise, I have nothing else to contribute. o__O
