You don't always need "to color it", it's fine.
As a sketch I'd say it's pretty good. (...Except for the freakin' blue notebook paper lines...) I'd like to see some paws, personally.

Fill in the pupil. Other than that I like it. If you were filling it in to make it look black and not shading it.

Advice on paws: 1. Make sure you know where you want the wrist/ankle joints. 2. Draw a small circle on the paw side of the joint. 3. With canine and feline paws, cirlces give the best starting shape for the digits. 4. Play with size and location till you like what you see. 5. Conecting the paw parts, claws and fir is all that's left.
I find this works almost every time.
