There's a thread for romance artists, so I thought it would be nice to have a home for the writers out there. I'm not quite sure this is the best place for this, but books and writing seem to go together.
Are you a writer? Fanfics? Novels? Random scribblings?
I, myself, am an aspiring author. I'm currently working on a period piece set in Regency England (which is part of a well, not really a trilogy, more like just three books who have connecting characters) and have a number of other books in the works, including one paranormal series. My muses are fickle beasts, as much as I love them, and don't always strike at the appropriate times. I've taken to carrying a notebooks around with me and I write on my breaks at work while I scarf down Wendy's. xd
I'm also editing one of my friend's novellas. Which reminds me, I need to go email that back to her...
Also, if you are writing something, want to bounce ideas off someone else, or just want validation that your work doesn't suck (I do that all the time, so don't take that as an insult), post your stuff here. If you dare. Dun dun dun. >_>;

I'm actually someone who wants to be a writer too. Even though I'm majoring in psychology, I still want to keep writing on the side. I've already finished a story but I have yet to edit it. And I've got a couple other stories in the making.

Writer? Hell yes. They don't call me Captain Fanfiction for no reason!
I actually started out as (and still am) a fanfiction author (Of LOTR, POTC, Harry Potter, SW, and mostly, Inuyasha), but now I'm actually on my way to getting a fiction novel published.
Of course, all my stories are romantic.

Typos/misprints/inaccuracies annoy me and I can never seem to move on until I fix problems I see. xd

But I meant more like editing as in character development (which is my main problem) and plot outline kind of thing. Making sure things are answered at the end, making sure certain characters don't show up in the first few chapters and then disappear off the earth, etc.

(: But, yeah, I hate when books end with a huge "Huh?" Even if it's part of a series, you have to asnwer some questions. My character's are too developed, if you ask me. They start taking on their own personalities without any help from me. I'll just wake up one day and they're completely different people and I'm like "What? gonk " Happened with my current project. Nathaniel made himself an artist and an alcoholic at the same time! xd

Why can't everything be perfect the first time you go though it?

I'd spout some crap about it being the writing proccess and blahblahblah, but I wish things were perfect the first time I wrote them. Then maybe I wouldn't have to rewrite the same parts three times before I'm satisfied. ):

Even though I know it's part of the editing spiel, I still hate it when I've spent an hour on a single paragraph...only to either think of something better or completely hate it and delete it. I feel like I've lost so much time gonk

I wish I could write, I have all these great ideas for stories and fanfics. But when I write them down they become very structured, stilted, and boring. When I write I can make mass murder sound boring.

It's taken me a month to write a chapter. xd I wrote five (hand-written) pages last night and just ended up rewriting most of it when I typed it up today. @__@;

I started out writing crappy InuYasha fanfiction, but now only write original fiction.
My pieces are set in a fantasy world that my boyfriend and I created, based loosely off of Imperial Rome and going from there.
We finished our first novel last year and are still in the process of editing, polishing, and getting ready to send it out in hopes of being published.

I was once a writer of crappy Inuyasha fanfiction as well. xd I'm actually dreding when I finish my book (besides the fact that I have to go back and write the book that comes before it before I can do anything with it), but I was looking at websites that give advise on how to format a manuscript, write query letters, ect. It's insane. And on top of that, a lot of different publishing houses have different ways they want you to format your manuscript in the first place even down to how many spaces they want after a period! gonk

The worst thing about finishing a book and getting published is the knowledge that you will have to do this all over again for a sequel. rofl (Thankfully, I won't have to do that for some time...Stupid query letters...)
