Name: Michael
Gender: Male
Type of Second You:Angel
Current Stage:Surprise
Likes: Michael likes all things light in this world. He was the one who showed Chi her first apples, her first sunrise, her first sunset, her first fresh morning dew, her first babbling brook and crackling waterfall. He likes anything that shines and twirls, anything that fully embraces the sunlight that reigns down upon us all. Of course, he considers tea to be the very best thing that the sun shines on. He introduced tea to Chi, and though she may claim to like tea as nuch as Michael and get as hyper as he does the truth is that after Michael has a cup of tea he seems to be burning with the energy of a thousands suns. His most treasured possession is Chi herself.
Dislikes:Darker colors which promise darker lives, such as deepest purple and most dark blue as well as black. The moon and her night. Any who seek to belittle his friendship with Chi, or any who would seek to harm her.

Thursday, June 8, 2006- The first ingredients that will go into making what Michael will soon be were placed in a vase.
Sunday, June 11, 2006- Michael's existance has been confirmed. Small feathers have begun to poof up out of his vase.
Saturday, June 17, 2006- Michael has emerged from his vase. He has shown me that he is a spunky little creature, the love he holds for the sun burning as bright as that which he holds for Chi.
Saturday, June 17, 2006- He met Chi on this day. They emerged from their vases on the same day, however Michael seems to be taking the job of being an older brother.

While Michael was inside his vase....

I awoke this morning to find a vase on my doorstep. I cradled it in my arms and brought it inside, placing it by the fire. The vase seemed to glow in the light, much as it had on my doorstep...

Sunlight seems to be attracted to it. The tan hues of the vase sparkle brilliantly in the daylight, though at night they seem to withdraw into themselves and leave nothing but a dull coloration. I am certain that this little one's favorite time shall be during the daylight hours.

I try to keep it by the fire as much as possible, for it is my foolish belief that if the temperature of the vase gets too low the little one inside will cry. I'm not sure what makes me think this, but it is the same pull that causes me to keep this little vase by the pinkish and cream one that had shown up on the same day.

I have decided to call the one who will soon emerge Michael, after the Archangel who protects us all.

MMMmm... Tea....

Keena peered out of the entryway to the house, one hand propped upon the side of the door, the other hooked on the inside to keep herself from falling as she craned her neck to see around the corner. "Michael? Michael?!" she called, her eyes scanning the yard in search of her sparkling little boy.

Chi had snuck off while Michael had been sleeping, gone to find someone to play with, and Adrienne had been gone since shortly after she emerged from her vase. Keena sighed, recalling the two girls. It was only Michael and herself for the time being...

... and Michael's tea was getting cold.

"MICHAEL!" she yelled.

Michael was jolted out of his daydream. He had been staring at the glowing sun, the orb that had comanded his attention for as long as he could remember. He had lost himself in the little flares he convinced himself he could see, in the firey orange tendrils about the edges and the pure white light towards the center. He knew that he was one of the few that could stare at the sun and not have to look away immediatly or blink repetitively. He loved this fact... but sometimes, it proved troublesome.

"Coming, Mo-Keena!"

He had almost called her Mom again. She had sat him down the first time he had done it, peered into his eyes, and said 'Michael... you know I love you as though you were my son. I love Chi and Adrienne too. Even so... I am not your mother. I'm Keena... please, just call me Keena?' He was having dificulties with this, for he knew that Keena loved him already and found it pointless for her to say it.. she could have just asked him straightforward to call her Keena.

He turned about and raced towards the door.

Keena smiled gently as she saw him coming, the light sparkling off his hair, the little feathered pants, the chestplate, the wings... his eyes... everything. Yes, he truly was a child of the sun. She held out a hand, which he grasped, and herded him inside.

"Come, Michael. I have something I wish for you to try."

Michael giggled, following Keena happily. Whenever she had a surprise for him, it turned out great. She led him to the hardwood dining table, where a single cup lay on the side closest to him, in the place where he always ate his meals.

"For me?"

He looked up at her, a question in his eyes. What was so special about the cup, even if it did have a cute little sun on the face and little designs all up and down the handle, even if it was the same golden yellow as his eyes, even if it darkened to orange around the rim? He had to admit, it was a pretty cup... but still, what was so important about it?

"Remember what I told you about the books?" Keena asked as he peered into her warm brown eyes.

"MMhmm..."

"It's what's inside that counts." She motioned towards the cup.

Michael took a step forwards, grasping the cup in his two hands, and peered at the liquid inside. It was brownish, but that color was slightly mutted by a whitish liquid. It smelled like the herbs in the garden out front.

He sighed, took one last look over at Keena (who was smiling encouragingly) and took a sip.

It rushed through his veins like fire. The feel of it slipping down his throat, the warm feeling it had in his belly, and the taste... oooh, the taste. He sipped again, and again, and soon his entire face was burried in the cup as he tried to drain its contents.

Keena laughed, placing a hand on Michael's back. "You like tea, huh?"

Michael nodded, wordless, closing his eyes and leaning back to sip out the last remains.

--- 5 minutes later ---

"Michael! No! Wait! Don't! - " Keena rushed forwards, eyes widened and arms extended. Michael had been jumping on the couch, reaching about for vases and anything else he could grap and then making them bounce with him. He had just grabed her favorite vace, a dark red one with gold around the edges and a nice gold rose in the center.

She caught him in mid-bounce.

"Oi... maybe caffinated tea wasn't such a good idea after all."

... She left me....

"She left me... she really left me..." Michael sighed, plopping down on the warm stone of the street.

Chi had joined up with some schooling facility. She was now the teacher for one a plant school... and she was there waiting for students, while he sat here thinking about her.

What was so great about possible students? She could teach him, couldn't she? He'd be more than enough for her....

For once, he actually rose a hand up to cover his eyes from the sun. He could only bare to think about one of the shining aspects of his life at a time.

He knew he was being a bit overdramatic: couldn't he join the school? ... No, no he couldn't. That would be showing a weakness. He had to let her come back to him, lest show her that he was forever at her will.

... Even though it was true: if she smiled, his heart was filled with joy. If she was sad, if a single tear fell down her cheek, he felt like he would rip his heart out and give it to her should it make her smile again. If she was fumming with anger, something so rare he had only seen it once, and it had dyed out quickly that time, he wanted to destroy whatever it was that made her angry. When it was himself, when he said something stupid or was trying to explain something and she couldn't understand, he felt as though he would kill himself if it would make her happy. Anything to see that smile on her face...

He continued to mope, his arm over his eyes.

The sun burned ever brighter, as though demanding that it's spirit-child look at it, love it, care for it, watch it's brilliant displays when all others turned their eyes from it.

He obeyed, now staring at the sun and letting it burn away all his Chi-induced woes.

... I couldn't stay away.

The sun can only burn so bright before all things are smoldered in their path.

They say the sun burns bright as love, does it not?

I do not love her. No, it is not this love that Keena speaks of... if you could call swooning and shining eyes, murmuring and sighing, speaking. It is more like... like a friendship bond.

I read in one of the books Keena gave me on wars that sometimes two people share a bond so great that they hold the other's life above their own. Those two people would die for each other, even if one is more active in his or her protecting and the other relies more on emotion. Those two people, if placed in a war setting, will fight back to back and even throw themselves in front of a deadly blow that was meant for the other.

I do not know if Chi feels this bond, but how could I feel it so strongly if she does not at all?

Michael sighed, rubbing his forhead and banishing the thoughts. He propped himself up, then on a split-second decission began running towards the schooling facilities.

Who cared if she was going to end up marrying and having kids and stuff? Who cared if she'd soon have one of those boyfriends Keena goes all google-eyed over? He would always be there for her, a strong and silent support whenever she needed it.

He ran as fast as he could, hoping that he wouldn't catch her in the middle of a lesson.

---

Michael could see the barest glint of creamy pink between the branches of two trees. He walked swiftly over to them and peered up.

"Chi?" Came his questioning call.

"I'm here." She looked down, her eyes filled with a lost hope.

He clambered up to her, not really noticing that the limb wouldn't quite allow for two people to sit side by side... it was a perfect seat, but for one.

He held out a hand and offered to help her down. He didn't know what happened, but he knew he would make good of his promise.

He would always be there for her.

Night

Michael sighed, turning in his bed of folded leaves. He had completely refused to take a bed inside, even though Keena had often tied him to it and stared at him until he fell asleep. If he could, he would always sleep outside... even if it was night.

The night was an odd time for Michael. His beloved sun was hiding as the moon and it's stars cast a silvery glow over dusky hues of shadowed plants, Chi was sleeping in her fluffy cream-colored comforter, Keena was... well... on the computer... or phone... and he was outside, tossing and turning in his sleep.

Dreams plagued his night time hours.

Dreams of the sun coming down to burn the earth on which he stood, taking him with it. It was not the brilliant blinding light that he feared, nor the fact that all the tea in the world would be gone, rather the fact that the sun would take both Keena and Chi... Chi... as it's victims.

Dreams of Chi leaving him.

Dreams of himself leaving Chi.

Dreams of some horrid person sneaking in and changing Chi beyond recognition.

He sighed, pulling one of the larger leaves over his head. He had used Chi's knowledge of plants to his advantage in that he made her tell him where he could find big leaves that were also kind of soft. They made perfect bedding.

He had been confusing himself lately. He did not love Chi, of course. He held a special bond with her. He loves the sun, he loves warmth and the color orange, he loves Keena as though she was his mother. During the daylight hours he could simply go over an beg for a hug from Keena, maybe hang out with Chi or stare at the sun. At night, he had no escape but sleep.

... and sleep did not come easily.

So cold!

Michael awoke, and the first thought on his mind was Chi. Then came food. Then came a need for some tea, a need to find Keena. He rubbed his eyes and stretched, arching his back to take in the warmth of the sun and let it relax his muscled and fill him with.... the glow did not come. The sun was not awake. And yet... it was sunrise. The sun... where was it? The shining orb that circled in the sky and carried his heart with it wherever it went...

Fog.

Horrid, misty tendrils of water creeping around his legs and seeping into his clothes. Their counterpart, clouds, blocking the sun from him. Cold, cold, cold... shivering, shaking, chattering. No energy. Unsettling.

Where is Chi? She is warm. She ressonates with love.

He froze (though the cold air already made him sufficiently frozen... this freezing was more as in alertness) as a yell pierced the early morning air. He recognized the voice, but not the hyper quality that was present within it. Oh yes, it was Keena... but a bouncy joyfull Keena. Maybe she had just gotten more Jasmine Tea?

He dragged himself to his feet, the lack of sun giving him hardly the energy to move to the door, let alone call out for her. He turned and saw Keena up in the top of a tree, dangling and yelling and hooting and hollering. He was able to decipher a few of her yells...

"WOOHOOO! YEA! FOG! BRING IT ON BABY! WOOOOOOOOO!"

... Yep... Keena's crazy.

He shook his head sadly and went to find Chi.

Rival

Michael rose with the sun, as he did any other day. He stretched and yawned, basking in the glory of the rays filtering down from the heavens. He sighed, content, and wandered inside to find a cup of tea waiting for him on the table. Beside it was a hastily scrawled note, done in pink pen... from Chi, then. He held it up, and took a gulp of tea as he read.

"We got a student! At the school! She's so cute! Gonna go get started on her lessons!
Love ya!
~ Chi!
"

... His hand froze, and he re-read the letter a few times. He stared disbelievingly; he had thought of Chi's plant school as a sort of passing phase... even though she had spent so much time setting it up and buying materials... bugging Keena for more information on her beloved plants... and now they had a student. A student meant no more running through fields of green, playing games with Chi. He would have to share Chi with someone outside of his family...

And for once, Chi would be the one teaching people. He would be there, her protector, strong and sturdy (even for his few years on this earth) forever watching the shadows and guarding her from any harm. But...

He groaned.

Dear god, Chi was responsible for another.

PostPosted: Sun Jun 17, 2007 2:34 pm

Michael shook his head, trying to block out Keena's disbelieving shrieks and Chi's wailing cries. He flicked at the tag hanging around the rim of his tea cup, wishing he could be outside playing in the sun. A glance at the window told him that the gorgeous heat that had been his constant companion for the past few days had finally begun to wane, a cold bank of fog now in it's place. With another sigh, he propped his chin on his hands and rolled his eyes at the two females flailing about before him....

It had started like any other squabble. Chi coming running in, her face lit up with excitement; Keena slowly turning about, her face set in stone. But the words that gave flame to this argument were what worried him...

"You'll never guess what happened!" (Chi)
"Oh, just tell me! I'm never good at guessing games. No set pattern!" (Keena)
"Haha ok. Today, at school, I lost my students!" (Chi)
"YOU WHAT?!" (Keena, now panicked)

If Chi had really lost her students... oh, he had known that her being responsible for others was a bad idea. But had anyone listened? No... He himself had not really listened to those nagging doubts, as when Chi peered up at him with solemn eyes he had felt all of the righteous fire drain out of him- and all he wanted to do was hug her. So he had kept his mouth shut, and let her go on with her little school. (Not so little, as the lands were sprawled over many acres and the plants grew to great heights...)

He peered at Chi closely, and noticed that she had the same 'but but but!' frenzied expression her face took on whenever Keena had jumped to conclusions and Chi couldn't get a word in edgewise to explain something.

Michael's eyes narrowed. He slowly got up, went around behind Keena, and quickly grabbed her around the waist. She let out a yelp, and flailed, but was soon thereafter completely silent as wave after wave of shock flowed over her too-still face. Michael coughed, setting the stunned human on one of the dining room chairs. Which was quite the feat of strength, considering how Michael was but a boy and she a full-grown woman.

He turned to Chi, who was looking slightly stunned as well. Why did these two find 'sudden' movements so frightening? Oh sure, it would be scary (he supposed) if a silent ninja crept up upon an unwary victim in the dead of night, but a bright young boy walking towards you from behind in the kitchen? Not so scary.

"What was it you were trying to explain?"

Chi sputtered for a moment, but was finally able to get the words out. "Er... I found them... I didn't actually loose them so much as they forgot to follow me..." her voice was small and soft, her eyes downcast. She was obviously sorry that she had caused Keena to go into such a flurry.

Michael shook his head and stared at the woman slumped on the chair. "... If she'd only listened..."

His gaze returned to Chi, and the grasping realization that he found such a strange occurance the normal occurance of his every day life hit. He groaned.

We're all insane.
