Name: Chi
Gender: Female
Type of Second You: Human
Current Stage: Surpsie
Likes: Chi enjoys sakura blossom and anything fluffy and kind. She is a simple child, known to indulge in the simple pleasures of life. If any animal should cross her way, she is likely to attempt to bring it home and make it happy. She adores tea, her favorites being 'Sleepy Time' and 'English Breakfast.' If she has tea, however, a certain mishcevious streak shows in her and she has been known to skitter up a tree after a stuck cat... then get stuck in said tree herself. Chi worships her elder brother Michael.
Dislikes: It is sad to know that there are things in this world so vile that even one as pure of heart as Chi can come to loathe them. Among these vile things are shadows, dark corners, creepy crawlies of darker colors, tears, and the heavier emotions such as hatred, envy, lust, sadness, and betrayl. She dislikes anything and everything that could or would seek to bring harm to others. She avoid Adrienne, a half-angel Drow warrior, if at all possible.

Tea first gave me Chi's Vase. Overjoyed, I immediatly began to set up her Journal. As of now, Chi is but the barest beginings of a Second You. She has no liked, dislikes, and even no body.

Sunday, June 11, 2006 Chi has begun to react to my presence. She is throwing out feathers to let me know she is soon to arrive. I am begining to see the promises of a kind individual.

Saturday, June 17, 2006 Chi has finally emerged from her vase. She is now a living, breathing individual much like myself. She can now see the world with her own eyes. I am begining to learn about her.

Monday, June 19, 2006 Chi had an encounter with her first second you other than Michael! He was a merman by the name of Ryu, and in his kind-hearted friendliness he gave Chi a present! Their roleplay can be found under 'Journal Entries.'

I had been upset the day before. I had missed so much while I was only allowed to play with my pets, no only allowed to get online, during the weekends... and now, when I could come on and participate in all of the events... they were all over. I had missed a roleplaying contest, something I was good at, as well as a few flatsales and auctions.

It seemed that nothing could raise my spirits.

I went to the Second You thread, a place where I have found much happiness in times past. The sight that met my eyes nearly brought tears of joy forth from my shining eyes:

Tea had formed the basis of what was needed for Chi to come into being.

I had taken the vase into my arms, clutching it to my chest. I had been waiting for a slot to open for so long, and now I finally held that dearest creature in my arms.

I set her vase beside a pile of softest Sakura blossoms, watching the vase out of the corner of my eye as I went about my daily chores.

When morning came of the next day, the vase that would soon birth Chi was sitting where I had left it.

I was relieved.

Chi would be unlike my current Second You, a half-drow and half-angel who had wandered off shortly after coming out of her vase... I had not seen her since. Adrienne had always found ways to get away from me, even while she was still in her vase. I would go to sleep craddling the dark red vase in my arms and wake up with it on my bedside table. I would go off to find something to eat and would come back to Adrienne's vase behind the book shelf. Adrienne had even managed to become more depressing than missing an auction for my favorite shop, for in her intelligence she could see all that was wrong with the world.

Chi stayed right where she was put, never making a peep.

Chi's Diary

Entry #1

Dear Diary,

Hello! It's me, Chi! Keena gave me this diary and I don't know what to do with it... she said it's supposed to be like my best friend, something I can confide everything to... but I have Michael, do I not? Michael is really kind and sweet, and he teached me about everything! I can tell any of my secrets to him, and the best part is he actually listens. Does paper have ears?

Well... if i'm not going to tell my secrets to you, diary, i'll just tell what I did today...

I met a wonderful boy named Ryu! He had a tail, isn't that neat? I'd love to be able to swim like he could... He was really sweet and nice, just like Michael. He even went way into the river and brought me back a cute little present! The present was a really nice-looking, rounded stone from the bottom of the river. I asked Michael, and he said it was smooth because it had been tossed about in the river for a really long time, and the sand and stuff made it all shiny and smooth... I think it looked kind of like a heart...

Keena said I could glue in a picture of it, so....

Ryu was so sweet! Our meeting went like this....

Quote:
The river shimmered from the small waves that rippled across the surface. Everything was calm, peaceful and just the way a certain merboy liked it. Ryu sunned himself, face up on a rock letting the sunlight bath him. For one of the few times since he and Feng had come into this world she was busy doing stereoptypical mermaid things, like combing her hair and making herself pretty.

This was good, it meant he didn't have to worry about her doing something dangerously stupid for the next hour or so. Yes... life was good.

Chi wandered about, looking for something to do. She had drunk an entire cup of English Breakfast tea that morning, and could feel the caffeine coursing through her veins. She swung her arms a bit more than usual, causing the slightly ruffled dress to sway about her little legs. The young girl noticed a flash of dark red somewhere to her left, and switched directions to go and investigate.

Her little brown eyes widened as she approached the dark-red... thingy... "Ooo..." she stopped, mouth forming a cute little 'o' shape. The wind blew her hair about in a wild dance, the little sections on either side of her floppy ears flowing about her mouth. She sputtered and coughed, closing her mouth quickly to avoid getting hair in her mouth. How yucky would that be?

"Hiya!" she giggled and waved, though the motion was interuppted by her constant flailing to try and keep hair out of her mouth.

Ryu bent his back to look at Chi, though seeing her from an upside down view was kind of funny. He blinked, before turning onto his stomach, using his arms to prop himself up. The first thing he noted that Chi's hair was, if possible longer than his sister's.

"Hello...." Ryu replied caustiously, "You are... new... I think."

This was certainly not a Second he had seen before, but then again there were many Seconds now too many to get to know properly.

Chi nodded frantically, her head bobbling up and down much like the little bobble-headed doll Michael and presented her with. "Yah!" She peered at him curiously, stopping her frantic flailing for the moment so as to not impare her view of the other Second.

"Are you a fish?" She sighed, for she couldn't get a very good view of him from way (<-- a measurment that could mean anywhere from one foot to thirty) out there... even if he was on a rock. She wadded in to the water bit, holding the little tendrils of her dress up so as to not get them wet. Even incredibly hyper, she still did not want to anger Michael. She peered closer at the Second, and reached out a tentative hand to attempt to touch his tail.

"I've never seen someone with no legs before..." Actually... the only Seconds she had ever had any interaction with were Michael and Adrienne.

"I'm a merboy," was the reply as Ryu did not move instead let Chi touch him, though his tail twitched and flopped without meaning to.

He was perhaps just as curious of Chi as she was of him. Not that he had never seen a human before, he had seen many humans and people with legs. It was just, she seemed kind of different, maybe it was her clothes. She looked... fancy, like someone who wasn't normally out and about.

He wiggled over towards her, "You could... come up? It won't wet your pretty dress."

Chi's eyes had widened more. "Oooo....merman." She stroked his tail gently, letting out a soft giggle as it twitched. The wind had died down a bit, so her hair was no longly flailing wildly about.

"MM! Thankyou!" She bit the corner of her lower lip and lifted herself up onto the rock, her little face scrunching with the effort. She smiled and plopped herslef beside him, altogether happy and joyfull. "Yees... it is a pretty dress. I'm just not allowed to get it too dirty... " She sighed. "I rarely am able to swim, 'cause when it gets wet the dirt clings to it." She peered over the side of the rock at the water below, then straightened again quickly.

"Eep! I've been so rude! My name is Chi..." she bowed quickly... or at least, as much of a bow as she could manage while sitting down. Curtsying was out of the question, though she knew Michael would have preffered for her to curtsy. "What's your name?"

Ryu bowed his head, "I'm Ryu," he added using the flourish of words he had heard his elder siblings use, "It's a pleasure to meet you Chi."

She seemed like such a sweet and nice girl most certainly calmer than his hyper and thrill seeker sister. Maybe she was one of those... what did his older sister call them? Gentle ladies? Maybe she was one of those people.

"Well I guess with all those light colours it would be bad if it go dirty," Ryu mused looking her up and down, "But maybe if you asked for a.... bathing outfit maybe you could swim too."

"Ryu! I like that name!" She wiggled her toes, staring down at them as she did so. Her brow furrowed slightly. "Bathing suit? Like... a tie and pants and a fancy-shirt?" She giggled, something she did most often when she found something amusing but also when she found and idea ridiculous. "A girl wearing pants?" Oftentimes it seemed that even though she had been so sheltered, was so new to this world, the information she did have heavily leaned towards Men being the Protectors, Women staying home and cooking.. and being altogether gentle, like her.

She stopped giggling to smile, her tiny pearly white teeth glimmering. She was now looking over to him. "Maybe just a darker-colored... less... soft.. dress?" She took a corner of her dress and rubbed it between two fingers. It was truly soft, made of a light and flowing material.

Ryu would have fallen over had it not been already on the ground. True he had never see clothes meant for water, he had heard they existed, but not like that. He also found himself very curious about her, he was pretty sure now she was a gentlelady of some sort because of her comment of pants. Granted, now that he thought about it none of his sisters or mother wore pants... except maybe once, but he knew it wasn't unusual. He was pretty sure Feng would wear pants if given a choice....

"Well yes.... darker would be good," he nodded, "But just a dress... meant for swimming yes? No worries about getting it dirty or anything like that."

She nodded, blissfully ignorant to his momentary shock. "Yeah... a dress that would be used only for swimming." Her eyes had begun to squint slightly, though more from her near-constant smiling than from any discomfort the sun gave her.

She pictured herself in a dark blue dress- the color of water!- though slightly tighter than her current dress so it wouldn't balloon up too much. The dress she pictured had no little ruffles, it was just flat. The only other dress reference she had was od Adrienne's, though she didn't like that one much: it was too... not there.. ish... Chi's mind wandered, the picture of the swimming-dress poofing from her mind and being replaced by an apple tree.

She blinked, wondering why exactly she had pictures such a thing. "Hmm.." Chi grinned. "Do you ever have to worry about your tail getting dirty?"

Ryu blinked looking down at his tail, he supposed that with the tail always being wet to some degree it would get dirty, but it was a much darker shade of red like wood that it never occured to him. Unlike Feng's bright golden yellow where every speck would show up.

"I guess not...." Ryu looked up at Chi, "I rarely can go out of the water and travel far so I'm mostly in it. I guess in a way it is always clean because it's almost always in water."

"Ohhh yeah...." She let out a 3-second-long giggle. "Sorries! I suppose I just wasn't thinking..." Now that she actually controlled her thoughts for a bit, she figured it was pretty silly if you were in a constant bath of sorts to worry about something getting dirty. She looked back at her toes, then looked to the sky.

"It's so pretty..." Her little neck was arched back, the slightly pointed and yet still soft chin tilted up. "Sometimes I wish I had wings... then I could fly around up there! With the clouds and the birds! I love birds, especially Robins. There coming means Springtime, and in the Spring everything blooms! The Sakura trees, most of the flowers, and even little babies! The grass gets lighter too, and more glowy." Her eyes traced the outline of the clouds.

No matter how much water intrigued her, she would always love the sky... for the sky held the sun... and her favorite person in the whole wide world loved the sun, too.

"Do you ever wish that you had wings instead of a tail?"

Ryu looked to the sky, sheilding his eyes from the sun with his hand. The truth was, he had never looked to the sky before until Chi mentioned it, but he supposed that was just the way he was. He was not all the interested in flying... maybe in the future he would ask for spell that could let him fly.... even if... he would not be able to successfully use it at first. Though then again, he wasn't all that interested in flying, but who knew?

"Maybe legs instead of a tail," Ryu replied, "But not forever... I like my tail, because there are already so many brothers and sisters of mine that have wings, having a tail makes me special."

"Mmhmm." She continued staring at the clouds and the sky, thinking of how Michael had wings.. how Adrienne had wings... and then how Ryu had a tail. He was indeed special. The only thing she disliked about the little tail was that he couldn't move about on land...

Her eyes widened and she quickly turned her head to him. "If you can't walk on land... how do you get apples?" She looked around, but couldn't see any limbs hanging down near the water. "And... pick flowers? And... and... and... climb trees? And..." She was getting a bit over-excited now, due the the caffeine that was kicking in it's final burst before it wore out.

She peered at him curiously. "Hmm.. what do you eat?"

A faint rising of color appered on her cheeks and she look down at her toes again. "Er.. sorry if im being rude!" She didn't know about what to do if she

Ryu blinked before he laughed, he had no idea how she managed to say all of that without breathing, or at least that's what it sounded like to him. He hadn't thought about it all that much.

"Well.... I eat... little fishes sometimes, and seaweed, sometimes our siblings bring us something else. If something is close to the shore we wiggling on to grab whatever is there," he gave her a thoughtful looking before making himself sit up.

"Flowers from the apple trees blow into the river, or any other flowers that come from trees. We can't climb trees but we can dive down deep to see what it's like down there."

Chi froze at his laugh, wondering if she had done something wrong... then giggled herself when she noticed that it was a happy laugh, not a mocking laugh. "Hehee... I've heard of people eating fishies and seaweed before.. MMm..." she thought hard, trying to remember the many conversations she'd had with Michael and which part of which one partained to fishies and seaweed. "Umms... sashu? Sashi? Su... Sushi!" She grinned, bouncing briefly...

...

Her eyelids fluttered as she stretched. Caffeine lows hit her hard. She's go about being really hyper and excited, then suddenly crash and retreat to her 'normal' self. "What is it like down there? Is it scary? There must not be that much light..." She looked over to him and stiffled a yawn.

"Hmm... sushi.... haven't had that in a while," Ryu mused on that thought before turning back to Chi.

Did she seem tired to him? Well maybe it was a lot to come out all by herself? Who knows... he certainly didn't know a lot about Chi except she was a very energentic person, in a different sort of way.

"It's...." how would he describe something he already knew? Known for most of his life? "It's very pretty, it's not that dark, but I think it's because the river isn't all that deep. It's only scary when there are fish bigger than you, but some people don't find that scary at all. There are always moving things and shiny things at the bottom that sparkles."

Chi nodded. "Shiny things?" she blinked, trying to focus. She never liked the minutes that it took for her to return to her normal self after the tea-high wore down, the minutes in which if given the option she'd be more than willing to settle down and take a nice, long nap. "Hm.. that sounds fun... 'cept for the ocassional big fishies..."

Try as she might, her eyes wandered just as her mind had started to. She looked at him for a while, then at the rock, at her toes, at the water, at the sky, and finally at him again. She couldn't lock her gaze onto anything, nevermind think of anything knew to question Ryu about.

Ryu watched her and tried to bend down so he would be looking at her face, he blinked and asked very sincerly, "Would you like me to get one of those shiny things?"

After all he could it wouldn't take so long, Ryu prided himself on being quick.

On an opposite shore Feng was sitting on the sandy part of the river beach. She was shifting through for some random things, like shells and the like. The little mergirl combed out her hair with one hand, the only thing she liked more than adventure was shiny things.

Chi wobbled a bit, her head nodding downwards. Get her one of those shiny things? Like a present? Michael gave her presents. He gave her lots of presents. (She stiffled a yawn.) Like the little bobble-head doll, and her first apple-blossom, and... she wiggled. The caffeine's last effects, the drowsiness, had begun to fade. "Mm! I'd really like that!" She smiled, her eyes still slightly glazed but an inner light still able to shine through. "If you wouldn't mind, please!" She turned her head to the side, her smile softening around the edges. Chi wondered if the shiny things at the bottom of the river would be like the... shiny thing.. that glinted across to shore.

She leaned over, perched precautiously on the rock, to get a better look. "What's that?" she aksed, confident that Ryu would have some sort of answer for her.

"Hmm?" Ryu looked torwards where Chi was pointing as he was getting ready to dive in.

He chuckled a bit seeing the very person he was comparing Chi to. Who was, for once acting like a girl who wanted to dress up instead of get into trouble.

"That looks like Feng collecting shinies to decorate herself with," Ryu replied taking a better look.

"OOo!" She squinted, though she could still not see very many details of the other Second, this 'Feng.' Chi looked back over at Ryu, her eyes sparkling.

She pictured Ryu with a bunch of marbles surrounding him, his tail decorated with stick-on jewel earings and his hair in a bunch of small braids, with ribbons in it. She pictured teensy bauble earings in his ears as well. She couldn't help but giggle; from what she knew of him, that would probably never happen.

She peered into the water, her little hands gripping the edges of the rock so as to not fall in. "Hmm.. I hope you don't get cold..."

"Don't worry," Ryu put on a grin for her, "I live here so I'm use to it."

With that he dove in, swimming deep looking for something that he thought would look pretty to Chi. The river wasn't that fast moving, but upper stream it was, so all the rocks were kind of tumbled of sorts. Not to mention all kind of strange things ended up in the river... He shifted some pebbles until he saw a kind of pinkish one that caught his eye.

"Perfect!" Ryu thought as he grabbed that one and made his way back to the surface.

Chi nodded, her eyes wide as she watched him dive into the water. "Be careful.." He probably couldn't hear her, but she had remembered his earlier nonchalant comment about big fishies, and didn't want her new potential friend to get hurt. She peered closer, trying to see where he had went off to. The tips of her hair barely touched the water, and she quickly pulled her head up a bit to avoid getting her hair wet... if her hair got wet, it would drip onto her dress, and if her dress got wet it would get dirty.

Ryu splashed out of the water, with enough force so he could land himself back on the rock. Water driplets coming off the tips of his hair as he rolled onto his back and presented her with what looked to be a polished, pinkish rock that now that he thought about it kind of looked like a heart thing.

"It was hiding...."

Chi grinned and looked back over to Ryu, swiveling her body about so as to face him full-on. Her soft brown eyes widened at the sight of the pinkish rock. "Ooo... it's so pretty!" She stared at it, but didn't reach out her hand for it... not yet. She simply wanted to admire it's beauty for a while... that and she was afraid that her reaching out for it would cause it to jump back into the water. After all, something that could hide would also be able to move about, right?

She noticed that it had two little curved arches at one end, and was pointed at the other. She lifted up one of the strands of hair on either side of her face, and held up the little ribbon that held it there. "Whee! It almost matched my ribbons' color! Thankyou so much!" Her thanks were sincere; she really did find joy in the simple item. She moved to hug him, then remembered that she'd get wet. She sighed, wondering what she could do to express her gratitude for the little gift without getting herself wet, or causing Ryu any discomfort.

"It wasn't a problem," Ryu smiled giving the stone to Chi.

She liked simple things, maybe she and Feng weren't so different. He was happy enough that she seemed pleased by the little stone. Though she did seem to be bothered by something.

"Is something wrong?"

She nodded her thanks again, smiling and staring down at the pinkish stone in the palm of her hand. "Huh? Ohh, no... just... wondering how I should thank you." She crunched up her nose a little and turned her head to the side, peering at him curiously. A simple thank you in words didn't seem to be quite enough. She always thanked Michael with a little hug and a quick peck on the cheek, and he went away smiling and happy, feeling his efforts well worth the little reward. She knew it was simply a kind offer that Ryu had given her, but still wanted to do something for him.

"Mm.. want an apple?" Her eyes lit up, remembering what he said about their siblings bringing them apples and other such treats from the land. "Or maybe a flower?"

"You don't need to," Ryu replied, "I offered anyhow."

Which was true, after all why want something in return if you had offered in the first place. At least that's how Ryu felt about it.

Eep! Keena said i'd better turn the light off and go to bed now, and Michael's hiding under the covers because a lot of light makes him too hyper and he has to go to bed so we can get up and go look for caterpillars in the morning.

I hope I meet Ryu again soon!

Chi's Diary

Entry #2

Dear Diary,

The idea of talking... er.. writing to a book is seeming more and more fun.

I wasn't able to meet anyone today. That's because Keena took me aside and started teaching me about plants. I thought it would really fun if I could teach others, too, and after a really long discussion Keena agreed that we could set up a Plant School! Tea (one of the goddesses of the shop) said that we could, too!

We haven't gotten any students yet...

I know the first part is boring, but i'm sure the last two lessons will get some people! They're on poison and magical properties of the plants.

I'm going to go see if I can find some more plant samples for the school! This is so fun!

Dear Diary,

Um... I guess people aren't as interested in plants as I had first hoped... no-one has shown up for lessons yet. I'm still hopefull, though. Keena said that sometimes it takes a long time for people to admit their interests, especially in something considered as wimpy as plants. I was sure the medical and magical properties of plants would inspire at least one doubtfull mind to embark on this quest for plant knowledge!

Michael came to the school once and was hanging out with me a bit, but he said he didn't want to be a student. I think he doesn't like the idea of me teaching him... well, really, I don't think I could. He's so much stronger and intelligent than me!

OO! Maybe someone came in while I was writing in you, Diary! I'm going to go check!

Entry #4

Dear Diary,

I checked to see who it was... it turns out it was just the wind.

I could have sworn I had heard someone out there. Maybe it was a squirrel? Or a bird? Or Michael?

We still have gotten no students. Keena keeps reminding me to be patient, but I don't think I will be able to if this continues for much longer. I really want to share my knowledge with someone!

Ohh well... at least Michael hasn't left me. I don't know what i'd do without him.

I love these pink pens that Keena gave me to write in this Journal with. She gave me so many, I don't think i'll ever run out! I just hope I can find time to write in my Journal a lot... It really is quite fun, once I got past the fact that the Journal cannot respond back to me and... well... it looks funny sitting on a tree limb giggling while writing.

I'm going to go see if Michael wants to play tag. Talk Write to you soon!

Dear Diary,

We got our first student today!

Her name is Kadri, and she's a Human Bear-Girl. She's not scary though! She's really cute: she's got fuzzy bear ears and a cute little tail! I can't wait to start teaching her all about plants!

I can't believe we've finally got one! Wait until I tell Michael!

Chi's Diary

Entry #6

Dear Diary,

Oh! I'm sorry I haven't been writing to you lately. I've just been so busy with School and all!

Haha, that sounds a bit like i'm the one in school- but i'm not! I'm teaching! ... Oh, but you know that already, don't you?

Well! If I told you everything that's been going on, it would take way too long and i'd run out of pages in you, but i'll just tell you a bit! For fun!

So. I was walking along, talking to my students about plants and all their functions, showing them a few prime specimens. I had noticed that they had been silent for a really long time, and so turned around to ask if they had any input or questions- and they weren't they! I was so afraid. I'd thought that i'd lost them! But that was silly, I mean, how can you loose people? Well anyway, it all worked out and I found out that they'd just stayed back and were chatting.

Oop! I think Michael's here to pick me up! Gotta run!

Love, Chi
