The dark figure of a mother, an alpha staggered back to her lands. Her tail held low and her head the same, loking more like an omega then the alpha that she really was. She had let her son go and whether she would see him again, only time would tell.
Her brown paws took her to the edge of the river where she collapsed. Her eyes darkened from the sadness of living. People said absence made the heart grow fonder, but to her, absence made her see what she didn't have. Her love for Diego, it was there, but yet... it wasn't. The pain of giving birth without him had birthed an anger in her that never seemed to cease.
She had now let go of the only other male who she would care for. She had a bond with her son, a strong one. She had taken him to the village and then brought him home again, teaching him to hunt, keeping him occupied so his mind wouldn't get carried away and he would go into the crazed state that could kill him.
She had birthed children who were dangerous to themselves. Chips mind was something that needed to be kept active or he could, well... she knew what happened. Rune was mute which could get her in so much danger one day, Blue believed she could fly and her other girl, she rarely saw.
Maybe Pack life wasn't for her... after all.

She let her paws dangle into the water, making small ripples as she remembered her life, the running as a pup, the strange pup like personality she had once had before Diego had taken her to Reicher where that was squashed out of her.
She remembered Ran, the small strange pup who she had loved derely but not heard nor seen since. She had vowed to go back and see her but then her own pack... it seemed to want to call her, even though she didn't seem part of it anymore. She had wanted to go with Stray and Chip, join the pack of wanderers where they could just go where they wanted. Was't that the life she really wanted?
She lowered her maw to the water and lapped up some of the cool liquid. She needed a drink. She needed to stop thinking but she couldnt rid herself of the image of Chip, happily bounding after Stray.
At least he was happy, her son, her only son.
She let a sigh escape her maw as she watched her own reflection. She didn't look like an Alpha and nor did she had the energy for it now. Maybe, if she could just find Ren, maybe she would take Alpha for the pack so River could leave... Diego wouldn't miss her, he was always off here and there and the children could live happily without her. They had done so far...

River was about to roll over on her side till she saw a shimmer of green come towards her across the river. She watched the bird as it landed beside her and lowered its beak in a welcome. The wolf watched curiously, not quite sure what to make of it.
"Strange wolf you are. Alpha and Loner all in one."
The crow spoke strangely, it made sense but the crows voice seemed to cackle a little, though maybe that was Rivers imagenation.
"Who are you?" She spoke softly, not really having the energy to commang her voice at the moment. It was easier this way, simple.
"Rippa they call me." She ruffled her feathers and turned back to the wolf. "You needed some company!" She pecked at some of her feathers, or maybe she was doing something else, River didn't understand birds, not at all!
"Oh.. ok. I am..."
"I know who you are. I been watching ya for months. Kind of guardian thing."
River just stared at the green creature. She had been watched, she kind of knew this already but, well, she was a little annoyed with this but happy at the same time.
"I am sorry Rippa. I am guessing you know whats in my head too?" She tilted her head a little as the crow flew into a tree jst above them.
"Mostly. Not that I can read ya mind but body language says alot." She seemed to know more then River like, that was for sure.
The alpha sighed and lowered her head onto her paws. At least she had a friend who seemed to go with her everywhere anyway!

The crow suddenly took off, flapping her green wings she circled high above the brown wolf, like a vulture would for some food. She circled her about twenty times before she lowered herself back down to a branch a little above the alpha.
"Why you still here? I was getting ready to leave!"
A smile spread across the Alpha's maw as she listened to this strange bird.
"Well, it takes time to adjust to talking to food, for one and second, how could I? Diego can't look after the pack and the girls! He just isn't capable!"
River was partly lieing and partly telling the truth. She didn't believe that the girls needed anyone now, they were safe on their own but Diego, who knew what would happen to her mate if she decided to suddenly leave?
"They will live, you know that. We going?" The crow suddenly seemed a little pushy and River wasn't exactly happy with it.
"No. Not yet... anyway."
A sigh escaped her maw once more as she laid her head back down on her paws. This was going to take alot of thinking about.

"You shouldn't be staying, no, should be a leaving!" She cawed into Rivers ear, making the wolf snarl a little, flicking her ears back onto her head.
"Will you stop telling me what to do, I will decide myself." She snarled out the sentence, she wasn't being the nicest girl at the moment. She longed to go with Stray and his pack, but yet she didn't want to leave Diego, maybe the packs could join? No. Diego wouldn't like it.
The crow started tottering around, going backwards and forwards in no real direction. She was happy on his own, that was for certain, after all, she didn't have the things to think about that River did. She would make a decision that would change her life!
"I am staying. For now at least. I don't know what I would do if I left and also, if I left, I would always just be thinking about what would have happened if I had just stayed here in the first place!" She smiled a little and looked up at the sky. "I always have you to talk to right?"
"You always have me wolf. I think you should go though." She cawed lightly back to the alpha.
"I know you do, maybe.. one day... not today though." She smiled and stood up turning to head back to the den, more the waterfall. She wanted to climb it and let out that howl that she had wanted to do for a long time.
