Obie was in an uncharacteristically good mood. She wasn't sure why really. She just woke up with a smile and decided to go with it. Not even when the other students threw glances her way, did her mood change. She really barely noticed today. Flipping some of her long black hair over her shoulder, she opened the door to the cafeteria and walked in. After grabbing the hot plate dish and paying, she sought out her usual table in a back corner of the busy cafeteria. Sitting down, she pulled out her newest book and flipped to her page as she picked up her fork.

Makito yawned and moved his head over to see who had just sat at the table next to him, and for a moment a flicker of annoyance crossed his right eyebrow. It twitched slightly, hardly enough to attract anyones attention - including his own.
Ah well, it was her right to do whatever she wanted, and it was Makito's right to ignore her or wait for her to say something to him. Either way she probably wouldn't recognize him dressed normally like this, with his hair down and his mask nowhere in sight.
"Hnn..."
He idly chewed on the chopsticks that poked from his mouth, his gaze directed upwards towards the sky. It seemed like it might rain later.

Obie glanced up at the soft sound. It really shouldn't have been noticible with the hustle and bustle of the students in the cafeteria, but it was just that reason that attracted her attention. She looked around for the source and her blue eyes fell on a rather good looking boy sitting at the table next to her. He looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn't put her finger on where she had seen him before. She started to go back to reading and eating when her good mood provoked her to do something she had never considered doing before. Setting her book down, she looked over at him again.
"We've met before, right?" she asked, a small blush coloring her cheeks at her boldness. She usually did not speak unless someone provoked her into doing so. This was turning out to be a really weird day for her, she thought as she waited for his answer.

Makito blinked a bit, his eyes wide with the sudden question and the look on Obie's face. It seemed that no one really did recognize him as he was, and he let out a soft chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck. He took the chopsticks from his mouth and set them down on his tray, turning to fully face the other student.
"Of course. You were kind enough to lend me these, and I forgot to return them before we parted ways. Sorry about that."
Reaching into his pocket, Makito pulled out a pair of sunglasses and held them out towards Obie, a soft smile resting as his expression as he waited for hers. If Izumi knew that Makito was out making a girl blush, Obie would be as good as dead, but for now things were okay.

Obie's blush deepened a little as Makito held out her sunglasses. He would be someone she had snapped at. Ra was right. She really needed to lighten up. Looking at Makito in a different light, she found him to be actually quite polite and not annoying at all. Slowly she reached out and took the glasses from him with a small smile.
"It's okay. I'm, uh... sorry about being so rude the other day," she conceded. It was the least she could do in response to his politeness.

"No big deal, I'm sure it's just your nature. We can't help but be who we are, you know? For me, nothing rattles my cages so I don't think I've ever been mad before. Well, maybe."
Makito smiled again as Obie took the sunglasses, and he found himself quite amused by the deep shade of blush on her face. Was she really that nervous around him because she knew who he was, or was it because of some other reason? Stuff like that always eluded him, so maybe he'd ask Mimi later.
"Anyway, what are you reading? Same book as before, with your dignitary? Cleopatra wasn't much different then Helen of Troy, she still used her looks to destroy many men in her wake."
He spoke in a calm and flat voice, his gaze upwards towards the sky once more. It was sort of odd that Maktio always felt calmer when he looked up, maybe it was because when he was younger he spent most of his time in a hospital bed while staring at the sky.

Obie smiled again at his acceptance of her apology and glanced down at the book she had set on the table as he mentioned it.
"No. This is just a fiction I'm reading. That stuff about Cleopatra and Helen of Troy was just something that Giani apparently likes to do. It's a silly game where you pick two people and decide who would win in a battle to the death," she replied, her eyes flicking upwards to see what Makito was looking at. When she didn't see anything she looked back down at him.
"I never got to ask you... how is it that you knew my name before I gave it to you?" she asked, sitting back in her seat.

"Hn, let's just leave it that your reputation seems to preceed you in some areas. As for me, hardly anyone knows my name, nor do they really want to. It's almost better to assume I'm unknown and go about life that way."
Makito moved his hand up to his head as if he was about to run his fingers through his hair, but his face paled and he stopped while lowering the hand back down. He pulled his glance away from the sky and back to Obsidian, his eyes serious but his mouth blank.
"But hey, I'm not here to tell you what you do is wrong, or what you've done is wrong. We're all our own judges in life, and how we think about what we've done is our own choice. At least...that's what I'd like to think and say, but it's mostly a waste of time to think that way. In the end we'll all go up to the sky, maybe become a star or something."
Mimi had always told Makito that if he died, he was sure to become a star. And that star, Mimi always said, would be his favourite in the whole sky because it was Makito. Maybe that was why...

Obie frowned at his answer and looked away. One damn time... well... one damn person and people just assumed the worst. Her mood was about to turn sour when he continued to speak. She looked back up to his eyes though her smile and blush were gone now. Her scientific mind scoffed at his silly thought about becoming a star, but she made it a point to never get into those types of debates. People tended to get angry and she just really wasn't in the mood to upset Makito today.
"That's very beautiful," she supplied instead, absently toying with the hem of her skirt. Her mind rolled his words around in her head as she stared down blankly at the cover of her book for a moment. Slowly she turned her blue eyes back up to him and sat up to lean on her arms on the table.
"Why do people not want to know your name? Why do you say it's better to assume anonymity?" she asked, genuinely curious. Out of everyone she had met here at Aquila, he was the first person to have ever even hint at enjoying the benefits of solitude, something that she had cherished very much up until very recently.

"If you knew my name and who I was, do you think you'd want to talk to me so freely? I don't mind what I've become today, the person who is known throughout Aquila's undergrounds. You saw how the other day those boys ran off when I walked over? That's part of the reason why it's better to never say anything, to simply let word of mouth spread for you."
His head was starting to hurt again from being in a place with so many people, yet it would be okay for now. Makito would simply go back to the room after this and sleep through his next classes without a worry or care since his grades were top mark and his teachers never bothered with him.
"And if you're bent about one person, imagine what a lot of others will do. It's all talk, it's all speculation. People can say what they want because words are words and reality is reality. A rumour can be truth if you know where to find it, and a pit viper can be a pet if you know how to handle it. Words are just words...and nothing more."
Despite having said that Makito's expression showed that he wasn't entirely convinced with himself over what he was saying. Words were only words alright, but usually words came when they were accompanied by something or someone. They never stood alone. He smiled sort of wickedly at the thought, though the smile could be considered one of interest more than anything.
"Having said that, do you still want to know my name? Or do you already know it?"

Obie listened closely to what Makito said, trying to decide if he was being serious or not. She really couldn't see him being the kind to jest freely. When he continued on and brought up the very thoughts that had just filtered through her mind she frowned again, but kept her eyes on his.
"Words hurt and I know you know that's true. Regardless of how uncaring you want to be about them, they can still cut through you," she said, gauging the expression on his face.
"I know your name is Makito, but it hardly strikes fear into my heart or anything as dramatic as all that," she replied with a small shrug.

"Good then, but I'd rather you just use my last name - Saieki - instead of just my first name. It'll save you trouble in the long run if you happen to bump into him. Also, sorry if I seemed to hit a nerve. I'm often told I lack tact when I speak to others. Mimi says it's my honesty streak coming through, which he also says is a bad habit to have."
Makito's head pounded against his temples, and he could feel a wave of nausea slightly sweep over where he was. His headaches were getting more frequent, and he knew that sooner or later he would have to call his mom and let her know. He also knew that by calling his mom Mimi would know too, and that was one of the few things he wanted.
"Hey..you wouldn't happen to have any pain medicine on you today, would you? This headache I've been nursing just won't go away and it's starting to try my nerves something fierce. And for words hurting, don't you think the reasoning behind them is more of what you should be scared of?"

Obie turned slightly to dig into her bag. She still had a bottle of headache medicine from when she had participated in the Astrology Club's festival of the dead event. Producing the bottle she handed it over to him and sat back in her seat again, thinking over what he said.
"I'm not scared of that stupid list. Though I really just don't understand what its purpose was. Why does it matter what Thanatos does? It's not like he ever denied his lifestyle. If some silly little girl couldn't handle it, I don't understand why she even bothered with him," Obie replied blankly. Ever since Thanatos had disappeared and her paranoia at being under the spotlight had increased, she had developed the theory that it was one of the girls that he had brought back to their dorm that had started the damn thing out of spite for not getting her way. It was a small comfort, but one she could deal with.

Makito thankfully took the pill bottle and popped the cap, taking a few out and swallowing them without any aid of water. As he listened to Obie speak about the list and who SHE thought was behind it, it was a bit hard for him to contain his laughter from exploding outwards.
"Ah, so you're upset about a list? Is that why you think I know your name? Hardly, I knew your name because your reputation for being shotty towards people got around faster than the reputation of you sleeping with someone. Hell, if everyone around here knew who slept with who we'd all eventually find out that someone slept with a relative of theirs in the long run."
He handed the bottle back and gave a bob of his head to say thanks, and he rubbed his temples in thought as how he could tell this all to Izumi. Naturally Mimi would find it funny beyond all reason and laugh himself sick, which wouldn't be so bad compared to him screaming in his sleep.
"For me, I wonder what you'll eventually be told. People have seen us talking together, even though we're not sitting at the same table or holding hands or anything of the like. Of course the rumour will be that I'm threatening you into service, or someone will simply come to you with friendly 'advice' on how to avoid me. Easier, said, done."

Obie took the bottle back from him, frowning slightly at the reason he claimed for knowing her name. She turned and slipped the medicine back into her bag and looked up at his next statement and raised an eyebrow.
"Threatening me into service? What's that supposed to mean exactly?" she asked, also wondering why anyone would bother to tell her to avoid him. Sure he was a bit on the annoying side, but nothing she couldn't handle, she thought.
