The grown male made his way slowly to the waterhole, his ears standing in case someone were to attack him. A minor precaution, that's all. His green eyes, though trained on the body of water before him, were watching the surroundings as well. Peripheral vision. He'd used it countless times as a rogue, and though he was within the Pridelands, his safety wasn't entirely ensured. He knew that by experience. Within minutes, Kazi reached his destination, and he lowered his head to the surface of the water, taking a small drink before lifting his head again. The winds had changed slightly, and his ears twitched in response. "Huh..." he murmured before lowering his head and lapping the water for yet another drink.

As the winds moved, so did the pale lioness that guided through the grasses. She too was heading towards the watering hole, the heat of the day bearing its toll upon her pelted form. Though she was a member of the pride, she still had yet to get to know the others around her, and upon seeing the grey male, her form stilled.
Not letting go even a breath, she watched and waited for Kazi's movements, studying his tense form and wandering eyes before her head lowered. It almost seemed as if he was a new lion on the lands, and currently was making sure not to be found. As she silently stalked towards him, she pulled up only a moment away from his form, and decided to speak.
"There are no preditors here in the pridelands..." Her voice was like a breeze, soft and whispy as the tones moved with the wind. Moving to his side, though far enough away to pose no threat, she settled to lap some water.

The voice startled him, though he kept himself as calm as possible and lifted his head, eyes turning to the lioness beside him. He exhaled deeply and took a seat where he stood and turned his head so the wind was blowing gently against his face. "I know better than to believe that..." he said in a low voice. Kazi looked at the lioness again and watched her with a bit of caution. She seemed peaceful enough. The male stood once more and lowered his head to the water to take another drink.

Letting out a light chuckle, her laugh was deep and earthy, and her eyes glowed with an amber hue. Shaking her head as she lifted it from the waters, her eyes trained onto his form once more.
"Than you know nothing of the Pridelands." Settling her words at that, she moved a step back and looked up towards the sunny hills, the wind playing with her small mane as it told her stories and happenings that have fluttered through the lands. Turning her back away from Kazi, she was unsure where the conversation would go. Being a once rogue, she had no real intention to stay and talk, so instead she moved to gaze out and search for a possible meal she could catch.

He cocked his brow at her response and lifted his head from the water, his gaze following after her as a sigh escaped him. "I think I would know these lands a bit better than you, having been born here and all..." he retorted. Kazi followed slowly after her, his mane blowing off to the side with the breeze. "Predators can be anywhere you know. No place is safe, save for a hidden shelter or something of the sort. Open land holds dangers of many kinds...no matter where you stay..." Kazi's voice was smooth and calm, his throat having been moistened by the recent drinks he'd taken. His ears twitched about and his tail swayed about slowly behind him.

"For being born here, you smell quite a bit like the winds..." It was a thoughtful comment, and she just sent him a sort of smirk before continuing her walk. He could follow if he wished, but she was content with just hunting on her own, her paws leading towards a distant herd of wildebeast. It was around the time that their young ones pushed away from adults, and perfect to catch one or two without a stampede.
"The only danger is those who decided to be stupid with their affairs." And with that, she moved to jump on a large rock, eyes peering out and scouting just what her true options were. After a long moment of stillness, she turned to glance at Kazi, her wise gaze showing her wisdome and her ages of wandering.

An amused smile graced the ash-colored lion's features. "I left after my parents were killed on these lands," he replied swiftly. His eyes were on the wildebeasts, but he showed no sign of interest. He was there only to speak with her...he'd gotten rather bored of wandering around the lands aimlessly. "A simple family walk isn't something I would call stupid. Nevertheless, I suppose out in the open, when you're alone, what you say is true. My parents believed in the safety of these lands, and thus they died in their ignorance. I won't suffer the same fate..." Kazi looked up at the lioness, feeling her eyes on him. "I'd like to hear someone argue that issue of 'ignorance is bliss'...it'd be interesting." His gaze fell to the ground as he stifled a yawn.

Catching the sight of a stray that was easily catchable, Palesa studied the location of the others for a moment. Satisfied with her choice, she finally brought her attention back onto the gray lion beside her and kept her face blank.
"No one said that life would be easy...Parents, sisters, brothers, they all make mistakes. Because the mother assumes her child is safe, she is leaving the child open for my attack. A mistake she wont make again."

The male's ears twitched as he looked at the lioness beside him. "Agreed," was his simple statement. What else had he to say about the subject? He yawned again and moved his gaze to her prey, smirking as he was reminded of his first hunt as a rogue. "Oh...I'm Kazi by the way." The gray lion turned to her with a friendly enough smile. "I don't suppose you'd mind giving me your name as well?"

She smiled to him, though it was faded and small, before nodding slowly.
"My name is Palesa," With that, her eyes trained once more on the prey ahead, and she thought for a moment, "Shall we work together on this, or attempt for two different ones?" Of course, she referred to the wildebeast before them, but the big question was, did Kazi wish to hunt alone, or help her in catching the small youth that was her target.

Kazi's ears twitched for a moment or two as his eyes moved to her prey and he sighed. "Actually, I'm afraid I'm not in need of a meal right about now," he replied, a faint apologetic look on his face. "Perhaps we can talk more once you're finished?" The male never averted his eyes from her prey as he spoke. "Or should we say goodbye for now? I wouldn't want to be a bother." He yawned again and looked over at Palesa, awaiting her reply.

She faltered a moment, but it was moreso because she took a second to think over his responce. With a light sigh, she finally decided how to answer, and turned away from the prey she had intently been watching.
"I would be the bother if I requested for you to wait," She whispered with another light smile, before it fell, "It appears that, on the current circumstances, we must take our leave. It has been a pleasure exchanging words with you Kazi, and maybe we can do it again. I shall always be around the pridelands, there is not much else to do now a days but rest and hunt." With a bow of her head, she just flickered her brown eyes back towards his form, nothing but a peak of intrest within the depths before once more they were back on her prey. She had no need to let her catch disappear before she took one step to its direction.

He gave a small nod and flicked his tail once before beginning to turn around. "In that case, I may come and find you. A friendly talk is always nice every once in a while." He flashed a small, friendly smile back at her. "Goodbye for now," he said before bounding off toward the inner portions of the pridelands. He stopped after a small distance and slowed his run to a walk, and he began to search for a place to stay the night. Kazi glanced back once to see if she had started her hunt yet. "Hm.." Kazi's eyes turned back to his task at hand, and he decided that he'd get to speak with her again some other time. Right now...a place to sleep. "A wise word or two never hurt anyone..."
