Gentleman & Ladies: Gothic and Lolita Manner Dictionary: In order to be nice gentlemen and ladies you have to learn how to carry yourself and use polite words.
Let's try now!
~How to carry yourself- Your Gaze Always look straight, try to look forward if you do that your posture will actually become better.
~Expression Smile, Smile, Smile is what it's about. A person of High class must always have relaxed confidence. If you're looking stern then people will think that you don't have real confidence, always smiling is the motto.
~How to walk and sit. Sit down with your toes, feet, and knees nicely aligned. Even when you sit down don't relax your posture, if your body is slouchy your posture does not look pretty so you need to watch for that. Try to avoid crossing your legs as well although crossing your ankles simply is acceptable. When you walk keep your back tall and straight and if you walk from your waist it will look elegant.
~Greeting When you bow you stop for a moment and make eye contact. You Bow after saying a greeting such as good morning or good afternoon, this is such a sweet and polite greeting. To stop while saying hello is proof of ladyness (i.e. on the street, etc). When you bow the best degree to bend is 45 to 60 degrees.
~Present and thanks you's Collect ribbons on a daily basis and then put ribbons on anything you give. For a present on a special occasion attach a big corsage with a card as that's the way of a fine lady. A present is something you give from your heart, it's a basic manner to give a gift of the best quality possible. But of course there is such thing as a budget. It's not always the case that the most expensive is best. If it's a good quality (gift) it can be as simple as a handkerchief. If you give something too expensive the reciever might feel burdened by the gift, simple sweet elegances is an excellent approach. An admirable lady is a person who can give presents that match that person.
Part 2
~ Artistic Appreciation Opera, Orchestra, Ballet, Painting, etc. Aristocrats and lolitas always have a deep passion for the artistic field. Ordinarily, you must train your eye to be come the "Seeing Eye", and we recommend this. On pages ninety-six and ninety-seven are the recommended cds; please use them as a reference.
~ Drinks Enjoy your chatting time with a cup of (herbal) tea. If you drink alcohol, please be aware of the following: In Japan, the average teen is not allowed to consume alcohol until he or she is twenty years old. Please make a connection with alcohol to those who are twenty years old and older. Beer is a peasant's drink. The basics are wine and champaign. Aristocrats should especially drink whiskey and brandy (if they drink). Also, you must drink in a smart manner; don't let the alcohol take advantage of you. Table manners are on pages ninety-two and ninety-three.
~ Dance For Aristocrats and lolitas, dancing is a must. You will not be able to attend a party if you do not know how to dance. There are two genres of dancing, "Modern" and "Latin".** - Party Knowledge -
1. Always attend parties as a couple; this is your chance to find the handsome prince. 2. Parties are the place for socializing. Always know about of yourself, and your home country so that you have something to talk about. Be ready. 3. If you are invited to a house party, always bring a gift. 4. Always know the concept of the party.
~ How to Dress From Morning to Six PM: Lolitas: Wear a silk dress or a separated outfit with pearl, or sea-coral accessories. If it is a garden party, wear a hat with a really big brim. Aristocrats: Wear dark suits and a silk top hat. Six PM to Midnight: Lolitas: Wear evening dress; cocktail dresses, with diamond, emerald, or opal accessories. Never wear a long dress at a cocktail party. Wear a hat with no brim or a small brim. You will not wear a hat at evening parties. Aristocrats: Wear a teal coat and a dinner jacket with an opera hat.
~ Wording The THREE MAIN RULES OF LOLITA WORDING 1. Speak slowly and politely. 2. You may not use shortened/abbreviated words. 3. Be elegant and don't be rude.
~Some lolita wordings: Watakushi--I ~desu koto--A more formal version of 'desu' Arigatou zonjimasu--Thank you very much Sayou de gozai masu no--Is that so Oyurushi asobashite--I'm sorry Gokigenyou--Hello Gokigenyou--Good-bye Gomen asobase--Excuse me Osore irimasu --Excuse me Dochira ni odekake desuno?--Where are you going?
These are all from The Gothic Lolita Bible. First part is by Nefarious Vile and as for the the second part... I could never find the glb scans again that had the manners so I wasn't able to have the rest translated but I did end up finding the remains translated thanks to Lady_Adokenai . I read that once before, and started to practise the things told as good manners immediately. I still need some practise, I think. I need a large amount of ribbons...

heh...I do um...almost none of those things...I guess I carry myself pretty confidently and stand with good posture....I sit with horrible posture though....>.<
I try to smile as much as I can...I do a lot better now methinks.
I've been told that I used to not smile enough.....
and I think that explanation is correct.... I think it was because I wasn't self confident enough.... heart

I get most of this, and already act on a lot of it, except... ~Stares down at sometimes duck-footed, sometime pigeon-toed, but never perfect feet~ ... If I recall... It was okay to be pigeon-toed, wasn't it? You see a lot of lolis running around like that... And to top it off I am knock-kneed... crying
And the smiling makes sense... but what about all the loli pictures where everyone's pouting? Oh, Mana-sama has broken a rule! xd

Oh, Mana-sama has broken a rule! xd I don't exactly do many of theses myself most the time. I see them more as guidelines, they aren't exactly rules for Lollies'. :p The pouting is very cute, the idea is to look cute. Cute = Loli whee
Though the dictionary is a good impression and very polite, I think it is most important to keep your personality a long with it. You shouldn't want to look like a snob hehe or have a big fake smile all the time. I think we should just keep the smiles small. And you know, not everyone is perfect, infact no one is perfect. I have horrible posture as well but sometimes when it comes to tea times or important people I try to present myself mannerly. You don't have to use theses manners all the time. Most of the time with friends, I suggest being your cute self and have fun and not worry about too much mannering. Self confidences comes from being yourself!

Toukai what about a guy?...does he follow these rules too....well, im not walking with my waist...lol... Most of these guidelines are more focused towards females but men can follow theses as far as gaze, expression and greeting goes.. I mean men who aren't into walking with the waist thing can use their common senses and just skip that stuff. :p This is only part 1 of the manners afterall, I'm sure there are more focused on males.
