I'm assuming that that means that it's in the US (since Asda-Walmart isn't fully rebranded because of the already established name), which means that it's most likely a magazine that isn't published in the UK.

Those of us on this side of the pond should have a look for "Retro Gamer" magazine. This month's edition celebrates 15 years of Sonic. It will also give you more info than you ever knew about old computers from the Spectrum onwards. Rocking!

I should be in a place that's actually big enough to have a newsagent sometime tomorrow. Thanks for that!

you can buy 'codebook' pretty much everywhere in the world i believe...you just need to know where to look...but mostly can be found in newsagents

and that issue would be handy to have...since i keep forgetting all the old codes for sonic 2 and 3 sweatdrop

I had something this discussion with a group of guys a few months back. I'm 26 in a couple of months, they were between 18 and 21, and I was giving them all a fairly sound whuppin' on Sonic Mega Collection.

I remarked that I'd grown up on this stuff.

They retorted that so had they.

I then pointed out that in being just about to hit my teens when I started following the franchise with Sonic 2, I grew up on it in the era when it still had novelty value, and the reason why I had quite so many tricks and routes hardwired in was because I still had large stashes of codebooks and even full colour level maps from release-era cheat magazines lying about.

Oh yeah I saw that at Barnes and Noble, it's pretty nice that they gave our hedge that respect.

It was actually the retrospective on Sonic Team itself rather than Sonic which caught my attention when I checked that out - but I didn't have £4.99 (that's US$9.15 per magazine, folks! eek ) handy.

I'll admit to taking advantage of Smith's tendency to let you read the magazines in the shop for years.

Magazines have no appeal to me these days. The only thing they can offer that the internet cannot is a hard copy of the maps. If the cheat sheet in the first post has all of the maps printed out poster sized (I used to have Carni Isle act 2... I wish I still did), I'd snap up faster than Sonic on a chilli dog. But gamefaqs for cheats and every news site on the net for news.

I mean, Magazines are printed once a month and are stupidly expensive, websites are updated on the hour. Which win?

...

Even demos will be outdated when the Xbox-Wii60 finished coming out.
