Peeking into his favorite watering hole - Wow was it ever shrinking! - and staring at his reflection, Zimwi marveled at how his mane was growing in. He was starting to look more and more grown up by the day, his stoney mane becoming more filled-in. Sitting back, the mainly white lion blew the silky tresses from his face. With his growing body, he'd realised some things. One was that he was very much alone amid the females with mates and cubs. He was also feeling a tugging at his very soul, one that wanted to pull him away from the land he felt so secure and safe in. It was the wanderlust bug... But fear of the outside world kept him rooted to the lands, leaving him with a trapped feeling. He signed at his reflection, orange orbs flicking a bit. "Maybe if I had someone to travel with, I'd be less afraid to leave..."

"Are you admiring yourself or are you wondering about the outside world again?" She walked up next to him, and looked at her reflection. She had stayed here a while. It was time she went out and traveled around. She needed to. But she didn't want to leave Zimwi. He was precious to her, not as just a friend, but as someone who needed to see the many wonders of the world they lived in. "You and me are growing up great, aren't we?" She smiled as she looked away from her reflection and at him. "I've learned a lot staying here with you." Her tail flicked side to side as she stared at the watering hole, where she had first learned to swim, her teaching being Zimwi, of course. Her ear twitched when a dragonfly zoomed by and landed on it, before flying off again. Ruby eyes blinked as she once again tried to figure out how to bring Zimwi outside his comfort place. She had thought about this for a while, too.

The spirit-like lion looked up, amusement glimmering in his orange orbs. "Just seeing how I've grown..." He looked out towards the distant horizon amid the trees. "Some day... I might go out there again... Right now, though, I'm not sure..." He sighed, looking back at Safura and into her red eyes. Somehow, the white lion got lost in them. He thought about the future, and the idea of them together came to mind, bringing a blush to his face. "I was also thinking about... About us..." Yup, he was fidgeting. A lot.

"Were you?" Safura said, staring into his orange orbs. "How fun! Why were you thinking about us?" She technically knew what he was hinting at, but she decided to act naive and innocent. For the moment, anyway. "I'll take you places, Zim!" She grinned. Ever since she had given him his nickname, it had stuck, and she never really called him "Zimwi" unless she was being serious, which was very rare in itself. "You're looking nervous! What's wrong?"

As he blushed a bit, Zimwi said "Well... I was thinking... You see, I like you... A lot..." He swallowed. How did others deal with this...? With no male role model, he was stumbling over his words. "And was wondering if you'd... If you'd..." Somewhere in his mind, what was left of his bold side gave him a kick in the nuts. "Willyoubemymate?" He'd missed the part about the traveling, or at least he had verbally. Travel with her... That he could handle, as long as he wasn't alone.

Safura blinked. Okay, she had just barely caught that. "I..." She blushed so red when he asked. "I... Your mate?" She fidgeted. How in the world did he do that to her? Finally, she just licked him. On both cheeks. Then she touched her nose to his, ruby eyes brimming with happy tears. "Yes, Zimwi. Yes." Her blush was dulling a bit, but it was still there. But she was happy. Very happy.

Pale ears, at first pinned back for fear of rejection, lifted up. She would be... She agreed to be...? At the licking, he completely relaxed, a purr escaping. He indeed felt happy! He leaned over, licking her cheeks in return. "And maybe down the path... We can go out and explore when we're big and strong..." A smile moved onto his pale maw. They could return here for safety... It was perfect in his mind.

"I can show you my adopted family! Have I ever told you?" She nuzzled him, in an extremely happy mood. "But... the best part is... I have a home... two homes..." She whispered, tears spilling over silver cheeks in her happiness. She had had a difficult accepting that she was accepted, and so, with Zimwi, home was wherever he was... She missed many of her friends, but now, she knew she could go and visit... but she had a place to return to... "Big and strong? Yes!" She licked his cheek happily, before laying down abruptly. "The Swimming Pool has gotten small, hasn't it?"

"That'd be nice..." He smiled, nuzzling her. "We can share both our homes..." As she lay down, he settled next to her, gently grooming behind her ears. Indeed, the pool of water they'd once swum in was much smaller... "It's the lack of rain... Since I got here with Denge, I've not seen it rain once... It's slowly starting to die away, the lands the pride lives on..." He sighed heavily. "That's why I wanted to find the source of the great water fall. If the source is found, maybe the water can be brought back, at least in the river... Otherwise... Who knows what'll happen to the pride..." The ghostly lion nuzzled the pale lioness. "But I guess that shouldn't bother us right now, should it? That may be generations away." An easy smile made it to his maw as he went back to grooming her.

Safura growled softly with pleasure, even as she narrowed her eyes in concern. "It there's a drought, I'd better leave. It's not good! The food for any cubs would die out, and..." she worried over being kicked out. "I'm not exactly part of the pride. I've just stayed here because I promised you, love."
She closed her eyes. Her mate's grooming was relaxing, but it did nothing to diminish her worries. "Maybe we should go and visit Juhudi," she suddenly said. "I'm sorry, but I snuck away for a little bit, and discovered some other mountains called the Ela'wadiyi." She blinked as the rest of Zimwi's words processed in her mind.
"Oh! So that's why you wanted to look for the waterfall when we were juveniles! I thought you meant a game, but now it makes sense..." She stared sadly at The Swimming Pool. She had grown to love it. After all, it was where she had first learned to swim... and had gotten a best friend... and now, a mate.
However, she had to admit that her heart still had a small area that ached for her Pridelander prince, Kijito. She didn't have the heart to tell Zimwi that, for she loved him just as much, if not more. My life has just become more complicated than it should... she thought wryly, eyes closed tight, but she soon began to relax slightly. She didn't need to worry her mate.

"Yeah..." His ears flicked back. The wandering he didn't mind, in fact... "Say... Amid those.. Ela'wadiyi... Would we be able to go stay with them? I don't think it'll rain any time soon, and the water's drying, the food's stretched thin... It might be best if we didn't stay here." A sigh escaped. As much as he hated to leave a land where he felt safe, it was necissary.

"Zim, I've been to Ela'wadiyi; it's safe, plenty of food and water, and we'll be able to stay. I doubt there's a pride over there... and I have a friend over there, too." Safura said, nuzzling him.
"Sorry, but I kind of snuck over," She said, feeling a little worried he'd be mad at her. "I was feeling kind of claustrophobic (sp?), so I snuck away a bit. It's good over there."

Closing his eyes a moment, Zimwi took a deep breath, then nodded. "Alright... I trust your word on that. It won't be easy for me, but I think I can handle it.." He leaned over, licking her ear. "I'm not upset that you snuck away, it's understandeable. I'm not going to MAKE you stay here." He smiled, the kind that makes your eyes close and speaks volumes to the soul. "I just have to say goodbye to Denge and Nyu before I go." He would miss them, but if it was for the sake of the land, he would leave. Besides, it was best if he faced his fears instead of running from them.

Safura closed her own eyes, taking deep, even breaths. "You'll be fine, Zim. Just fine," she whispered happily. "Mmm, heehee. I just don't like going back on my promises. After all, I did promise to stay." She would wait for him on the outskirts of the mountain so that she could take him to Ela'wadiyi.

"That you did." He smiled, nuzzling into her neck before inhaling deeply. "I should probably talk to Denge... But later." Zimwi rested his head on Safura's back, tail flicking gently. Right now, he wanted to just spend some time with his mate. It had a nice ring in his mind. His mate... A deep, rumbling purr escaped his throat.
