oh and btw...

since i was talking to you about essays right before i went to bed, what did i wake up thinking about?

'how to structure persausive and comaparitive essays (since they're really the only ones i know, apart from narrative) and other tips on making the job easier'

yes, that's the title i thought of....sounds like some book gonk

and i couldn't get back to sleep becuase of that - have a lovely list on how to write history essays though 3nodding

hmm *thinks more* actually, it'd make a good slide show......

Ahem. Since I now have the criteria sheet with me here's what it says.

RESEARCH QUESTION

Nikita Khrushchev ststed in his memoirs that the Cuban Missile Crisis was "...a great victory... a triumph of the Soviet foreign policy". Was Khrushchev accurate in hsi assessment of the crisis?

Within your respomse be sure to draw a variety of sources to substantiate your argument. You will also need to draw on your knowledge of teh given historical period, gained throughout the course of our classroom enquiry. Your essay should consider both Soviet and American objectives during the crisis and your evaluation of the validity of Khrushchev's summation.

And I CAN'T DO IT crying

excellent!

*reads over*

And you CAN DO IT!

oh geez women - this is one of the easier types. Your looking at a persuasive
essay, m'dear..and maybe a bit of comparison with that soviet and american objectives but mainly persuasive. 4laugh

Now, *thinks* i should probably wait till you get on to walk you through it but meh.

first step - identifying your question - which is that question (lol) - now, your first job is to decide whether you agree with his statement. was he accurate or wasn't he?

step 2 - *grabs out note* i wrote this down in quiet study ...god knows why, i think i got bored with singing end of fashion now *ahem*

step 2 (again) - write down, and when i say write down i mean make a list or a table, every point you can think of that will support your argument. these will be your topic sentences on the paragraphs. It's anything that springs to your head. (i'm asuming your familiar with the structure of essays, if not..i'm charging for tutoring now, stare xd )

step 3- under these points is where you have to gather all your evidence, these will form the paragraphs.

step 4 - will be your conclusion, which is summing up your essay so use your topic sentences again. it's also usually easier to write your intro and conclusion last. don't ask me why but it just is. The intro is just stating what the point of the essay is.

do you have to reference your sources? if you do remember to do it >
if this all confuses you, i'm bring out the examples next, ok? this is mainly planning and it always works for me.
