According to scientists, dinosaurs were around 65 million (or billion?) years ago. On the other hand, the Torah says that G-d created the universe 5766 years ago.
So... are we Jews supposed to believe in dinosaurs? eek

Not sure bout that, but if that is believed it would make sense. Why would an all knowing, all powerfull being live on the same time as we do?

Correct, that is one of the main points of the debate - many theories of modern science do not slight the torah, on the contrary, they strengthen our understanding. G-d not only exists on a completely different dimension, he is eternal, all knowing, and incomprehendable with our humanoid limited senses.

A Hebro, a religious Hebro told me that "When G-d Created the earth, he created it as if it was around for millions of year" Think about it.

You also have to think-G-d didn't make the sun on the first day. So.....that "day" could technically have been billions or trillions of years 3nodding

Akhilles A Hebro, a religious Hebro told me that "When G-d Created the earth, he created it as if it was around for millions of year" Think about it. Yes, I've heard of that, and it makes sense. Not only that, but scientists used extrapolation to calculate the years earth has been around by the level of carbon (I think) in earth's matterials. Since when using extrapolation you can be WAY off (Imagine extrapolating child growth - ages 1-5 are WAY different than ages 30-40. You would eventually get a child that is 10 meters high eek ). darkphoenix1247 You also have to think-G-d didn't make the sun on the first day. So.....that "day" could technically have been billions or trillions of years 3nodding My dad really loves that one... He says that since G-d didn't even create the concept of "time" yet, its possible an infinite amout of time had passed since then, worlds rebuilding worlds, many things we cannot understand, and it is known there was "utter chaos" on earth before G-d set it right. Who knows what creatures of entities there were rofl .

A teacher of mine at my temple told me about this theory of an ossolating(sp?) universe (that the universe expands and deflaits constantly) and that when our version of the universe happened (big bang or going from smallest universe can be to expanding again) that either an extreme conciousness was created from it (g-d) or that g-d is a rememnent of the universe that came before us.
I dont know if I believe it or not, but I found it intersting
