He ambled along at a light trot, no particular purpose in mind, just felt like visiting the coast today.
It was something of a trek from his and Naib's den by the lake, to the seaside, but he didn't mind the excersize. He didn't do much else with his time except dream, sleep, eat... Since he reported to Phib first thing in the morning, unless he was specifically needed that generally left him pretty free.
A soft hum could be heard harolding his approach, a sweet melody that he'd learned from his sister.
Now as Ame's scent drifted into his nose Rio's tail took to a gentle and happy wag.
"Hermana, who are you speaking to?" Rio asked, siddling up alongside of her with a curious examination of the sea.
She speaks with the music makers, child, they are here for the spawning season.
"Music makers...?" Rio blinked, looking to his companion questionably. She was speaking to music makers?
But how?

For the moment Amelie's odd admitance seemed to go over Rio's head as he drew in closer to the surf as well, settling both his bandaged (but no longer wounded) paw and his other paw into the water. His bond with the element was at it's strongest when he was in contact with it, so if they wanted answers this was how they'd have to get them.
"Music makers, that's what she calls them, but I don't know. Maybe? I survived in the river for who knows how long, maybe they ARE wolves that got trapped in the sea?"
Come in deeper, child, I will show you what I can. Deeper, a bit deeper, Rio. A soft chuckle...
It must have been quite comical to anyone who could have seen it. Rio was edging his way in further, and at the final coax he gave a soft whine.
"Oi! It's cold!"
Yet in he went, all the way as instructed! Rio was out to just up to his chest now, still able to stand his ground comfortably, but deep enough in that he could feel the ocean's presence all around.
His eyes fluttered shut where he stood. Everything about the Mexican wolf fell quiet, and if Amelie' was aware she'd notice Rio's thoughts quieting down too, until there was just the clear sound of waves fading into his mind.
What are these music makers? Are they wolves? ... Can you show me what they look like?
A bit more silence passed between... but then the "waves" gradually began to calm to a soft, ever present roar. It was almost overwhelming, as if he'd been left in the middle of a massive lake, and all he could hear was the water lapping back and forth. The only difference was that this was much larger than any lake that he could imagine. It felt deeper and larger than any lake he could imagine, and for a moment Rio feared that he'd be swallowed up in it's massive existance, even within his own head.
Eventually even those sounds became blurry... blurry, fading to nothing in place of another. It had a... strange echo to it, but he was sure that what was hearing was nothing to do with the sea itself. A deep, high pitched keen resounded within the confines of Rio's headspace. It was incredible! As though that weren't enough though he suddenly heard the familiar soothing sound of water's voice again.
They are the hunters of the sea, like you, but they cannot dwell on land. They have been with me for many years, singing their songs and exploring my depths. They are my children, just as you and your friends.
Incredible...! They must be HUGE to make sounds that loud!
They are, child, Came the amused reply. They are. You are not quite strong enough yet for me to show you more, but when the time is right, I will. Does this answer your questions for now?
"Si..." He smiled, eyes still closed. Oh man, maybe there was a way that he could show Amelie... hey, wait! If he could heal others by touching them while he was in contact with the water, surely he could share what he heard too right? Maybe? It was worth a try right? "Oi! Hermana, come here for a second!"
He grinned, turning and pulling himself back up alongside of his blind counterpart, nudging her shoulder with his nose encouragingly and brushing his shoulder against hers a moment to help guide her in.

He could hardly wait to hear Ame's reaction, currently still unaware of her trifling through his thoughts, though vaguely aware of a tickle in the back of his mind. He was focused too much at the time to pay it any heed.
As the smaller female joined him in the water Rio gave a warm chuckle at her joke.
"Don't worry, hermana, I won't let you get swept off."
A second passed after that before Amelie would feel the underside of Rio's jaw rest across her shoulders gently. This was the most bodily contact that he could comfortably maintain without pushing her under, and since they weren't in so far he didn't need to worry about drowning. Once again he shut his eyes, and began instructing her with a calm voice.
"Try clearing your mind, relax and let everything go blank. I'm-- no, we're going to try to show you something."
She felt the other's presence wading in, but found it odd that just moments before there'd been another presence in Rio's mind, not once, but twice. It was like when their Wind-brother healed Rio, she'd been able to feel his presence through Rio, not like she felt wind's. There was something different about this other. After all, how else could she speak to the whales? She'd heard whispers about such wolves, such creatures before, spread through her by the news that her younger branches brought back. The streams and lakes and pond waters often had tales to tell after bearing witness to rare feats. Not many seers had made their presence known out in the open, but they could not escape the eyes that were all around. The trees, the saw everything in the woods and in turn she herself had learned a great many things while sharing space with their roots.
But for now, she'd simply do as Rio wished. It did not anger her that this other kept this a secret, she could feel through her "son" that she was a good kind soul with no ill intentions. For what reasons, then, did she hide what she was?
Now, just like before, Rio.
Once again he felt the comfort of the sea rolling in and out around the two of them, never pulling too hard, never pushing with too much force.
His body went lax with much less effort this time as silence reigned once more. It took a bit of encouragement, and a bit of pinpointing, but finally Rio was able to make out Amelie's conciousness-- just as if he would seek her out for a healing.
Stay with me, Amelie, it's just me and the sea here. We both have you. You'll be able to hear them in just a few seconds.
You could hear the smile in Rio's tone, speaking with a bit of subdued excitement. She was going to love this, he just knew it! He'd have to try this with Naib and some of the others sometime too!
The emotional feeling of being pulled out to sea came again, the water filling their ears and submerging them, though they never once actually left the spot where they stood. Rio felt just a bit of a strain, pulling a second wolf into the mix, he'd probaly need to rest after this but it would be completely worth it to share this with his friend. She missed so much already with her blindness, if he could show her something that others couldn't see, then it would definitely be worth it.
There came the soft roar again, then just as before those fuzzed out slowly.
That was when they heard the whales singing, and not just one as before, now there were three, one starting off the chorus while the other two bounced the calls back in a higher and lower pitch.

Yes, this is how they speak, just as you howl, bark, and keen to one another. She answered, through Rio's mind.
Isn't it the weirdest, most amazing thing you've ever heard?
Rio waited for a while longer, still allowing the sounds to swim in their heads for a while. He was not unaware when the vast voice of his bonded-partner began speaking again to Amelie and himself.
Tell me, child... can you see them? Can you truely understand what my music-making children are saying?
.... Okay, wha?
