...and there you will find the sacred guardian, a creature that glints with every colour of the spectrum. Her pelt is a rare beauty and those that lay eyes upon her say that their heart grew warm and never cooled.

She was the creature of colour.

She was a creature of youth.

She is a wild dog pup with a pelt that matches the most beautiful of all rainbows.

And her name you ask?

It is known to many as Osumare the very name meaning rainbow. But to the male wild dog who meets up with her in the future...she is known as Kalpana, the name which means imagination.

Behind the pelt:

How did Osumare gain such a beautiful pelt? Well this is the story behind it. For when the little pup was very young and had only just managed to open her eyes she was left alone with her two siblings whilst her mother went hunting.

Her mother was a single parent and so there were times when the pups had to be left alone.

It was on one of these occasions that Osumare decided to explore. So on shaky paws the tiny pup began her adventure and by coincidence met up with a God. Raising her head she peered up at him and smiled and told him that her name meant rainbow because her mother though her the most beautiful of her litter.

Finding amusement in this the God decided that he'd change her appearance so that it matched her name, and with a chuckle he dissapeared.

When Osumare returned home her mother was already back and astonished to see such a brightly coloured pup. She was not a cold-hearted adult but she knew in her heart that one of such bright colours could never survive and spared no time in rejecting her.

And when Osumare awoke she remembered nothing but her name and that somehow something had gone terribly wrong.
